Plot: Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night.     this is DRIVE, but this is NOT the theatrical version. This version has a different score and is not completely edited. The color filter hasnt been applied yet and some of the CGI blood effects arent done. This may be a rough cut version of the film.

    DEFINITELY watch the theatrical/completed version before watching this one.

    u ppl know most screeners are leaked from inside of the industry thats why theres no grp releasing it someone from inside of the movie leaked it , they do it on purpose in high quality to get early feel how the movie will do
    if it becomes a viral hit = more cinema tickets
    natural if u like a movie u take ur gf to the movie theater to feel the movie ..

    I have a collection of 300+ DVDs. I buy films like District 9 and WALL-E, (both of the above saw in theaters, then pirated (because studios are slow), then bought on disc) and yes, the infamous “Man From Earth” DVD too, which became known thanks to sites like these in the first place.

    I had a chance to see this in theater. However, I’m not really sure whether this leaked version is actually the same or not as shown in theaters. From what I skimmed through (samples and screenshots on various websites as i have no need to download it), it looks very similar but then again, I might me wrong. It’s definetely not a workprint or some crappy unfinished version sent out between filmmakers. Rather than being finished product and more likely ripped from DVD. It’s surprising why whoever leaked this didn’t label it as DVDSCR. Seeing Screner on rls title I was expecting crappy quality (like, even worse than sceeners of, for instance, Fighter or True Grit last year). So when actually saw the quality of this leaked rip, my jaws dropped LOL. Anyways, I bet producers and the crew of this film really didn’t expect it to leak so damn early. And that’s unfortunate on one hand. It only premiered in a fracture of screens in the whole word and it is yet to get big publicity. Hell, this film is one of the main 2012 Oscar season contenders. So I’m not really sure, the fact of the leakage can go both ways. Either it really hurts boxoffice or it skyrockets. We saw latter to happen in the past, but

    Oh and yea, I hope whoever leaked it removed or at least tried to remove all the dots, beeps and others watermarks. LOL Otherwise someone might be getting a rather loud knock on the door at some point. (remember the story of iTunes screeners leaker not so long ago).

    So finally to end this rant, I shall say this to the actual leaker: you’ve got balls. Just hope it doesn’t backfire on you. Props on bringing it so early for the masses. Even tho, like I said, most likely it will damage revenues of this movie and in the long makers will hire PI’s, FBI, ICE etc to find the leaker. It sucks but that’s the most likely scenario. This movie ain’t no Parry Hotter or Tron or Twilights or whatever that no matter what will still be making tons of money in boxoffice. Nope… It’s more of festival type of a flick (doesn’t really matter that it has bunch of awesome actors) and whoever got to see it illegally probably won’t be seeing in theaters. Hope I’m wrong.

    Hey guys,I just downloaded/watched it now I’m pretty sure this isn’t the real cut for the movie. The much praised Cliff Martinez soundtrack is left out from the film and is replaced with another score (some part’s from Trent Reznor’s Social Network score). Also the violence in the film seems to have been toned down as I’ve heard several reports of it being extremely violent and graphic, as people were all unanimously gasping in the cinema, I can’t say I experienced the same as the reports. Also the running time is stated officially to be 100 minutes, however the film finishes at 94 minutes with 4 minutes of blank black screen, totally 98 minutes altogether.

    I’m not trying to diss this release at all, I’m just commenting to let purist’s, like myself, know that if you haven’t seen it, it might be wiser to go and see it at the cinema, I watched this in it’s current state because I reside in Australia and it has a month to be released. Otherwise the visual quality of the release is great and no other issues.

    Are you the director of this film? If you are so aggravated at people here then you need to do several things. 1) Find out who leaked your movie. No one on this site did. Someone had a DVD of the movie (probably a SAG member) and decided to upload it to the World. 2) Push for simultaneous releases. Not everyone enjoys the “theater experience”. I f**king hate it. I like watching movies on my own time. If I need to pause it then I can. 3) Complain to the SAG that you have to pay such high salaries. I don’t feel bad at all for the actors. It’s the writers and rest of the crew that suffers. The over priced actors can go pound sand for all I care.

    Are you guys really that E-tarded? Its a SCREENER. They often are not completely finished, as in some special effects, some voiceovers, or musical scores might be missing or sometimes different. This screener is pretty much perfect. It IS finished as in it ends at the proper end. It has an incomplete blood splatter in one scene.. it wasnt fully CGI rendered. The end has no credits, they werent added yet. It was perfectly watchable movie. IMO its better than all the ones completed and with black and white scenes throughout.

    Just to reiterate like everyone else 1) Go see the film in theatres. 2) This is closer to a workprint than a screener. As most others have pointed out, the Cliff Martinez score has been replaced with temporary music. During the opening credits, Angelo Badalamenti (David Lynch’s frequent composer) has the “Music by” credit. Other instances such as color timing and incomplete effects can be seen (but probably wouldn’t be noticed by anyone who hasn’t seen the complete version). I would say skip it unless you’ve already seen it in theatres and are interested in comparing the incomplete version to the complete version. 3) Seriously, go see it in theatres. Everyone always complains about how Hollywood never makes films that break formulas, and that’s because people don’t pay to see them. If you aren’t paying for the films you like, then no one in the industry will care to cater to your interests.

    @160: It’s based on a 2005 novel by James Sallis, not a video game.

    @ Refn: what a giant load of crap. almost everybody with a brain, moral compass, etc. is open-minded when it comes to piracy. it is precisely the makers of transformers who hate/blame pirates the most.
    i have yet to come across an indie guy ranting about piracy the way representatives of huge companies do (because the director of “drive” would surely not be as stupid as to post here with his real name…). actually, it’s usually the opposite – indies realize the power of word of mouth. if “drive” would not have been released like this, i probably wouldn’t have heard of it and wouldn’t go watch it at the theater TODAY!
    IF the people in the film industry would really despise anybody who downloads a movie here or there, then they are just average a-holes pretending to understand more than they actually do. and don’t deserve to be considered worthy contributors to our culture.
    because one person here already pointed out some of the REAL issues keeping people in the industry down. though one thing people keep forgetting: management/producers! with every movie that is made for $10M but rakes in $100M, where do you think those $90M are going?! sure, some of it is reinvested. but a lot of it goes into the pockets of those least deserving it. because you can bet your ass most of the actors, directors, writers, etc. won’t see a cent of it.

    Loved the film in theatres, saw it twice. This is definitely a rough cut. Some unfinished CGI bits and a lot of different audio, both in dialogue and some in music, as well as a poorer audio mix overall. Additionally, there is some slightly different editing throughout. Still fantastic quality for a SCREENER and a highly recommended film for all to see.

    However, as I said, this is indeed a rough cut, so the theatrical release is much cleaner and significantly sharper on the notes I pointed out. Definitely worth the ticket price to see it in theatres, and this is a nice way to hold us over for the DVD release.

    WOW, Like wow. Watched it and LOVED IT! ViSUALISE version was to dark, M4v WAS the best Quality, but what do you play that on besides the computer? For AVi the PlayXD version was the best with a few minor video glitches. Complain that the studios are not making their money, well maybe not as much, but they are making alot! Personally this movie should be one to make alot so that more movies like this are made. Movies that are different. When you have crap like Twilight making millions upon millions and this goes kinda un-noticed at the Box office it makes me cringe

    If anyone is interested you can change the file ext from m4v to Mp4, just right click in windows and rename provided you have windows set to show the ext. Then it is more compatable with more media players. For example anyone with a wd media player who tries to play m4v will find that they cant forward or rewind or pause but rename it to mp4 and voila.

    Note : Anyone that knows anything about DVD Screeners, the purpose they are cut/shipped, and who handles such a task for a movie like this, knows that this isn’t a DVD SCreener
    Despite it’s modest budget, Drive is a studio film, and studio films don’t have screeners distributed by the producer in a garage. They are handled by PR firlms, paid to do said
    task. No studio would ever allow a screener of it’s widely released film to go out incomplete. The fact that there’s just a placeholder in place of the end credits tells you this. This might not be a DVD Screener, but it is the textbook definition of a workprint. It’s incomplete in some ways, and not mastered at all. There are several video glitches throughout the film, one of which around one hour and 12 minutes, caused the already out of synch audio to go way out of synch. Though a small video chirp remains, the synch issues have been fixed. Had to split into several files, demux, synch and remux, then join the files back together. Corrected AR to original theatrical which was 2.35:1 I think it turned out pretty well. And, for a workprint, this is spectacular quality. This was also a phenomenal film, so if you haven’t watched it yet, now is the time.
