Dragonforce - Ultra Beatdown [Promo]//2008

What a surprise! I was actually talking more or less about this album and the next moment a good friend of mine spammed me like crazy with the news, that QTXMp3 released this in the scene. Some of you may know that this was available as p2p release, but obviously with some random-lame encoding ;).
Enjoy this release and make sure to support a great band!

DragonForce was formed in 1999 from the remnants of the band Demoniac under the name of DragonHeart, but they changed their name to DragonForce before releasing any commercial albums due to possible issues with Brazilian band Dragonheart. Their career began with the publishing of their early songs on the first incarnation of MP3.com, claiming the top of the site’s heavy metal charts. The hit song “Valley of the Damned” reached over 500,000 downloads in the first few months. Two of the original members, Steve Williams and Steve Scott, left the band to form the power metal outfit Power Quest. Sam Totman also started a side project called Shadow Warriors featuring himself and ZP Theart. Sam has confirmed many times that Herman Li was not involved with Shadow Warriors.

DragonForce is pretty pathetic of a band if you come to think of it. The only thing they do good is come up with 2 or 3 decent songs. The thing about dragon force is, they can’t actually play their music. Go to youtube and search up dragon force live. All their music is done ether note by note then digitalized, or all on a PC. I can do that if I really wanted to. I’d just need someone to do vocals.

Seen them live a few times, and they’re not too good live. I like the CDs though

Doesn’t matter what encoding this is, the album is lame, just sounds like a crappier version of their last album.

Rubbish and a waste of time.

    Dragonheart? Dragonforce? Power Quest?

Who are they trying to fool with names like that?

Eddie Van Halen needs to whip himself back into shape and kick these punk kids asses.

They call themselves Power metal, but they arent. These guys are speed metal, plain and simple. Vocals are power metal ish, but speed influences are so much more prevailant

Really, I am dissappointed. I like Dragonforce, but these songs. A few sound just like their previous songs with just some twist to it. Some of them are good though…

  23. Hmm

“A few sound just like their previous songs with just some twist to it.”

Um… isn’t that the Dragonforce formula for the last 3 albums? They’re all still great.

    “Quality: VBR/44,1/Joint-Stereo”
..well, it’s great that we dont get rubbish like “202kbps avg” from you, but.. VBR doesnt really tell us much.. you should add at least a preset.. is it V0? V2? (I’m assuming v2 since it’s only preset allowed in scene rules, but just pointinh out that you may want to fix this in the future)

This sounds like Inhuman Rampage: Expansion Set. Just more of the same. Yeah, Dragonforce is mostly pretty boring but at least on older records there was some variation. How many times can you hear about “hearts so far away burning for tomorrow” - this could be actual quote but I’ve made it up.

    @15

If you don’t like it, post elsewhere.

IMO, Power Quest OWN DragonForce any day. Sure their music is slower and they are nearly as famous (DAMN GH3…) but they can play all their songs live and are the real deal.

Bands like this (well, only DF really…) have twisted peoples minds on what REAL power metal is meant to be. It’s not meant to be this super fast paced steroid metal, but more technical with crazy solo’s and clear crisp vocals, as opposed to traditional metal with screaming.

these groups look all the same on the cd-sleeve pic’s allways the same kinds of outfit, looks, colors, posing since the early 70th !

I have most of the album already and it is AMAZING!!! Most of the songs are basic DF, but they throw in some interesting tempo changes and hooks. Some of it sounds like a new side of them, like The Last Journey Home, and those are the best songs.
