Looks like a good scene-release, much more useful than the previous thread; Korean mumbo-jumbo. Good choice, Releaselog.

Does anyone know of a quality RapidShare application that allows you to download multiple files from RapidShare with a free account?

    January 2nd, 2008 | 06:56

Nope, try getting a premium account, one way or another… Their definitely worth it.

what is so great about RS when you can get the same from Bittorrent, forgive me for being ignorant what are the advantages.

    January 2nd, 2008 | 07:54

Apart from the fact that BT relies on other people, and RS relies on hard drives? Not saying RS is better, it’s just worth getting a premium account of you download alot of there.

I know this is off topic, but why hasn’t good luck chuck DVDrip been announced on rlslog?

I question the point of making such software. All the functions can be replicated using firefox extensions or programs that are free and open source that work identically across every platform and are guaranteed to be worked on as long as there is interest in the app. Given how common these types of programs are, I would even wager that bits of code are stolen from FOSS and other projects. Sure, FOSS comes short when you are dealing with software that is specialized and therefore costs in the thousands (if not tens of thousands) of dollars, but these are mostly for commercial use and so simple apps like downloadstudio are pointless and can only be profitable as long as people are ignorant to the alternatives… and those people will soon retire.

Wow, Mr. X just released another horrible stand up comedy release. I put down a comment about how he sucks in his release’s comments, and my comment (along with about 10 others) is conveniently deleted and no more comments are allowed. Is he trying to hide the fact that no one likes him on here?! SOMEONE FIRE MR. X NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i agree with Atlas.
one question why Rlslog advertising rapidshare premium account. My ISP uses proxy so for me rapidshare link is useless. It’s not good for us sharing community. The basic foundation of torrent is to share. Its Like you are sharing scene release news with us isn’t it.
so my point is give more importance to torrent rather than to those rapidshare premium account holder.
I think there is way around. If you guys have premium account then why dont u make torrent of it.I’m still wondering if there is torrent released for tune up 2008 since it was posted.

@random guy, i had the same problem. I tried a few of the download managers you mentioned until i figured out that if you use the flashgot extension for firefox the RS links will be sent to your download manager of choice properly.

    Fo Atlas and sidquest:
Its simpler thats all. Sure you can gather the features with firefox extensions but that assumes you are geek enough to browse through them, seek for tips of other firefox fans. For the lazy people there is Download manager, it has everything. This is how the world works. You can made your sandwich at home or buy it in a shop…
Usually im for open source but there is a limit for everybody and i cant surf the whole web to find out if there are good alternatives for this software. I had the 3.0 version and it has some nice features like showing the contents of a website. It helped me to get videos embedded in sites but of course you can make it with adblock and a free download manager too.

Rs is simple too. click and download. In my case its usually faster than torrent and i have enough torrents waiting, i dont want to make the queue longer.

It’s not a case of RLSLog “advertising” RapidShare, there are a hundred other ppl here who will also recommend it. Why? Simply because practically every appz site on the net uses it (that I’ve seen anyway).

Do a search for movie, music & appz blogs/forums and you will see what I mean. It’s simply the most cost-effective option right now, and has been for quite some time. It’s popular and easy.

If MegaUpload or ADrive or whatever had the “market penetration” as they say, of Rapidshare, then I’d be paying for whichever one is most widely used. Right now it’s RS.

    January 2nd, 2008 | 10:57

In fact, some sites even have a special Rapidshare area of their forums specifically for RS links. That’s how popular it is.

So I wish people would stop wingeing about having to wait for each RS d/l as if none of the others make you wait either.. or “why should I pay” as if everything in life should be free. You pay for i/net access because it’s worth it. If you don’t think RS is worth it, then fine but don’t whine about it.

Besides the fact that most torrents are slow as hell, most people that I have heard of that get caught by RIAA or whatever corp. for “stealing” , is because they shared the files by torrent or P2P. that is usually how they can prove that you have it because they download it from you.

I’m using Firefox and Flashgot extension + Flashget work fine with RS. All of above software are free. Make sure you enable ‘Direct Download’ in your premium RS account and add login username/password in the Site Manager option in your Flashget. Happy New Year!

  33. FlashGet FTW
    January 2nd, 2008 | 23:57

FlashGet is simply the fastest/more complete downloader. It even downloads from BitTorrent and eMule/ed2k (with speed). Just try it and see what I mean!

    The newest version:

I agree that Flashget is the “best”, but downloading from rapidshare gives me a 99% error (the files stops at 99%) and I have to manually start again, so let me try this app for change.

    @14 sidquest,

To download from RS, you can try using a proxy. Just do a Google search for “open proxy” or “public proxy” and you’ll get pages with tons of them listed. To use, just find your browser’s connection configuration, check the button to use a proxy, paste in the proxy’s IP address and the port number and click OK. Until you change it, all connections your browser makes will go to the proxy and from the proxy to the requested site. In Firefox go to the Tools menu, then Options, General and Connection Settings. In IE, go to the Tools menu, then Internet Options, Connection and finally LAN Settings (older version, yours may differ).

What’s the catch you ask? Well…

Most proxy servers are only “open” because the admin forgot to “close” them. Many no longer work by the time you try them. When you find one that does work, it may be painfully slow. When you find one that works and is fast enough to use, chances are that it’s already been used to download from RS and will give you the same “You’ve already downloaded too much” message. If you keep at it, eventually you’ll find one that works, but it might take you a while. Not really something you’d probably want to do on a daily basis, but you might want to keep it in mind in case there’s ever anything you really want from RS.

Freedownloadmanager Lite is the best. Try it. If you want torrent and/or streaming flash downloads just add the plugins. They are free as with fdm

If you download websites use httrack.
