Doomsday 720p Bluray x264-SEPTiC

Well its finally here; Doomsday in some sweet 720p quality :mrgreen: BTW, I checked the runtime and yes, this is the uncut version :D

Quality: Kickass, amazing, what else is there to say?

In the action-packed new thriller from writer/director Neil Marshall (”The Descent”), authorities brutally quarantine a country as it succumbs to fear and chaos when a virus strikes. The literal walling-off works for three decades - until the dreaded Reaper virus violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, captained by Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.

    Yes it is, but for a 2.35:1 ratio film the full resolution isn;t needed as the balck bars top and bottom are just ommitted. so the difference between the 720 and the 544 are the black bars you dont see anyway.

    For a 1.85:1 it would be the full 720.

    This should be nuked for too low bitrate, to be accurate. 4035 kbps equals 3.94 mbps. As all of us HD lovers know the rules state that minimum bitrate is 4 mbps. Quite frankly this doesn’t mean anything to all of us, still OK quality for HD movie. Just thought I’d mension the bitrate thing to the leet rlslog staff.

    Actually, I thought this was a better-than-average movie, which I watched last night. I’d give it a 6.5/10 or maybe a little more. :) As for the women, I wouldn’t bother watching it for that, but if you like the typical action films, this is worth a watch.

  19. estacado
    July 18th, 2008 | 00:59

    I just finished watching the LMG release.

    It started out as 28 Days Later, then became Mad Max. After that it turned into Braveheart for a while, then last act was a long advertisement for Bentley in Mad Max style. Overall, it’s not bad.

    I liked Rhona Mitra’s hair in this one. She has that short in the back,long in the front hair that Charlize Theron had in Aeon Flux, but it works better on Rhona Mitra.

    The violence and gore was more of a comic relief at times. The movie started out on a very serious tone, the 28 Days Later portion of it gave no hint of the ridiculousness that is to come later in the movie. But when the first Mad Max act started, you know this was going to be one of those ridiculously fun movies.

    Worth watching even just to see Rhona Mitra. She needs to do more movies and some porn too.

  20. July 18th, 2008 | 01:00

    @15

    You got a little mixed up between the megabit and the megabytes.

    The scene rules require a minimum of 4Mbps (megabits), and this being 4035Kbps (kilobits), this is actually 4.04Mbps (megabits).

    What you did was dividing the kilobits by 1024 to get the megabytes, which aren’t used in the scene rules.

    Please someone educate me. This is a blueray dvdrip? Is it worth the time to download so many files? Can these files be viewed on a normal video program on the computer? Can they be burned to a normal dvd and played on a normal dvd player? or does it take a special burn and play only on a blueray player? Thanks for anyone who can explain.

    @ 39…

    This is a blu-ray rip. Unless you have an HDTV, HD DVD player, or are willing to download that many links, it’s not worth it. They can be viewed on a computer, they can be burned on a normal DVDR, but cannot be played in anything but a blu-ray player.

    July 18th, 2008 | 03:40

    @Ray

    First of all, BR rips might be 5x larger than XviD, but the quality is at least 10x better. In fact, Blueray rips are so MUCH better than XviD that you may never go back. If you have a decent connection, you can complete the download of a full BR torrent overnight and it is worth it IMO.

    If you want to watch Blueray rips on your computer, then you only need two things - Media Player Classic (which supports mkv files) and an H264 codec (get CoreAVC Pro).

    If you want to watch a Blueray rip on your regular DVD player, just convert it to regular DVD format using WinAVI Video Converter (WinAVI supports mkv files) and then burn it to a DVD-R. It’s that simple and because you are down converting (from 720p to 480p) the quality of the conversion is outstanding and your DVD-R will look as good as a retail DVD.

    FYI

    If you don’t have

  46. johnny
    July 18th, 2008 | 03:44

    Wayne is right. dont waste the time if you dont have a bluray. But if you have a ps3/bluray and a normal tv there still is a huge difference. I got 21 as a dvdrip then REFiNED released 21 in BD5, Played both on a 37″ TV with a component cable through a ps3. BD5 wins on the tv as everything is well sharper. My HDTV is alot better than the tv as to be expected.

    @Ray

    PS - just download the sample file from one of these releases to compare the quality and test it out on your home computer/DVD player. That’s the easiest way to see what BR releases are all about.

    Personally, if it is a movie I want to see but I am not in love with, I just download and watch the XviD version. If it is a kickass movie that is best appreciated in HD (like last year’s “Sunshine” or the LOTR trilogy), then go for the Blueray rip as the keeper copy.

    July 18th, 2008 | 07:55

    @61 what do you mean hi-def @4gb dont think so?

    Nowadays its doable. Go learn about CODECs and you will see why its doable.
    Its almost like saying:
    DVDQuality (4.2GB) @ 700mb don’t think so.

    Basically the higher the compression the more processing power it takes to decompress, that is why years back we didn’t have DIVX players since they take more processing power to decompress. Back then processing power was expensive, that is why the DVD Format was created.

    DVD Format doesn’t really take a lot to decompress that is why it was chosen.

  61. Anon
    July 18th, 2008 | 08:01

    @62
    I think he means he doesn’t want to use 4gb if hard disk space, when he can use 700mb for a dvdrip with adequate quality.
    Probably doesn’t have too much storage space. ;)

    Ok, this is my review, and I am honest now:

    Action: Coordinated by idiots, you will laugh.

    Gore: Plenty, but not cool, mostly just repulsive and unjustified, see above. Sometimes it’s so overdone you will laugh, but mostly you will feel disgusted.

    Nudity: None. You wont get a boner. Period. The cover and screenshot is more erotic than anything in this movie. If you already have a boner, it will die. Maybe this is not important to you, but I know it is for some so there…

    Comedy: See Action and gore. The one liners sucks so bad, you might smile.

    Drama: Well, it had potential on rare accations, but they screwed up. You will only cry when you realized that you wasted your time and did not listen to me.

    Story: You can follow it, because the script was written by a nine year old with ADHD. The beginning gets you caught though, but it gets disturbed rather quickly, and by the end you will regret that you where fooled by your smaller brain. The ending will make you swear out loud even if you have people sleeping around you.

    Conclusion: Well, I tried to warn you, but I guess I need to be very clear. This. Movie. Sucks.
    You will understand why i tried to warn you and took the time to write this. Next time you see my name and a warning, you WILL listen and avoid.

    If you love gore and nothing else, then you might like it. But if you are like most people, you will feel that you wasted your time badly. Did I say that this movie sucks and is a waste of time?

    Oh, I did…
    But it’s true. IMHO. If you see this movie, you will feel dirty afterwards. Hence the need to swear, to reject the shame. But it wont come off. Unless you blow your head off. It’s a nightmare.

    yeah, this movie is a bit unrealistic. it -wants- to be a MadMax sort of movie, except it’s in scotland, and it will say or do anything to fit into that theme. Character plot doesn’t exist, there is no background, and no real conclusion either. It’s really all about pretending british people are tough and scottish people are weak, which is a complete load of crap. Overall, I give this movie a 4/10, download at your own risk.

    Opened with winrar. File will not allow itself to be moved to a usb drive. Tried several 16 gig drives. Get error, “disc is full”.

    @90 - Cedreloid

    Obviously you missed the part where the whole movie after the first 8 minutes was set in 2035? How they hell would you find that so unbelievable to the point where you’d need to make a post about it?

    If we as a race are unable to reach a point in 27 years time where and electronic optical replacement is not available, we’d have seriously slipped in our evolution somewhere.

    As for all the negative comments for the movie (about 15% of total comments here) sure you don’t need to think at all to watch this film, but sometimes that’s a good thing.

    IMDB rating of 6.3 with 9500 votes trumps 15 comments in a piracy thread in my book anyway. :)

    The last maybe 10 posts I made here failed to show up but I thought this was worth trying.
    1024 kilobytes per second = 1 Megabyte per second
    1000 kilobits per second = 1 Megabit per second

    This is actually 4.035 Megabits per second and so within scene rules.
