Dodesukaden 1970 Criterion INTERNAL DVDRip XviD-PARTiCLE

An interesting INTERNAL rip has been released by PARTiCLE. Dodesukaden is a film by Akira Kurosawa set in a Japanese rubbish dump in the period immediately following World War II. The film focuses lives of a variety of characters who happen to live in a dump. The movie is directed by Akira Kurosawa, who is a well known writer and director. A nice 2cd DVDRip by group PARTiCLE which includes subs.

Episodes from the lives of a group of Tokyo slum-dwellers: Rokkuchan, a retarded boy who brings meaning and routine to his life by driving an imaginary streetcar; children who support their parents by scrounging or by tedious and ill-paying endeavours; schemers who plot or dream of escaping the shackles of poverty. The critical failure of Dodesukaden sent Kurosawa into a deep depression, and in 1971 he attempted suicide. Despite having slashed himself over 30 times with a razor, Kurosawa survived his suicide attempt; however, he would not return to filmmaking for five years, releasing Dersu Uzala in 1975.

    BTW, would someone care to explain why Vantec didn't post "Gardens Of The Night 2008 DVDRip XviD-VoMiT" under DVDRiP and posted it just under the general "Movies" sexion instead?

    FFS, its gonna be over 24 Hrs now! Someone plz FIX IT, NOW!

    And respect for this movie! Definitely NOT for the potheads.

    @Vantec
    Of course it is. Why categories are there for?
    Imagine one wanting to see the latest DVDRiP releases, someone who is not interested in other stuff, and then misses a major release just bcoz you didn't think it was necessary to post it in its proper category.

    Besides I hate to see this site going down to the level of other wannabes (which is gradually happening after Dr00n came on board, I am sorry to say).

    Anyways, best wishes to you and keep up the social service ;)

    That's an amazing movie. This is actually the first time it gets a DVD release with proper English subs. All the ones floating previously are a horribly mangled chinese to english mistranslation. That Criterion DVD was supposed to come out years ago, but they ran into some problems with releasing it. Glad to see it finally out.

    Why still bother with CD-sized files? Does anyone still use them CDs? Come on, make them one big file instead..

    @Zider, I use CDs because they're cheap and practical for passing movie files to not so computer-savvy people, and if rippers would finally start using AVC/AAC, a feature-length film could fit on a CD in acceptable quality. With modern codecs, 1 CD is a good size for a DVDrip, and 1 DVD5 is a good size for a BDrip.

    For 2CD releases, it's trivial to re-join them with tools like AVImux, if the encodings match (which they should). But a good player will concatenate movie files seamlessly, so I don't really see the point.

    Great post, shame about the film really,
    this is easily Kurosawa's weakest offering.

    Still, it's nice to see some quality world cinema releases.
