All standalone DVD players with (Ultra) DivX logo will support the playback of DivX encoded movies.

Those with USB port even support direct playback of DivX movies from most USB storage device, there is no need to put the movie files on CD or DVD media.

There is no DVD player that can playback H.264 or X.264 encoded movie as far as I know.

For me, I bought a US$500 250GB multimedia player like DViCO M-6500A to solve playback of different type of file & video formats: mkv, .avi, .wmv, .mpg, .iso .vob, .ifo, .mp4, .asf, .tp, .trp, .ts, .m2ts, .mov(H.264); MPEG 1/2/4, AVI, XVID, WMV9(MP@HL), H.264(BP@L3, MP@4.0 and HP@4.0) , AVC(HD) , VC-1(MP@HL, AP@L3).

just a trick that you should know is that if you want to use h.264 x264 codecs is to choose an avi container so it will be played by all standalone home players in the market! you can also use MP4Cam2AVI software to convert mp4 file to avi ! if you are a scene team, please always choose an avi container! btw dual audio is also allowed for avi and most people don’t know it! have fun and happy encoding

Ok, I have DivX 6.0 (I think) installed on my comp. Other than the codecs I really haven’t used any of the other Divx features.

Is this worht installing if I’ll only use it to watch downloaded videos? Thanks in advance

@45 K-Lite, as the name says, is a codec PACK, and it means a lot of codecs. Divx is a single codec. You will still need to install other codecs to handle other types of video/audio, like AC3 or OGG/vorbis. Or you can install FFDShow and enable it´s options to handle most of commom types of media.
My personal opinion is: NEVER install a codec pack. They have a great chance of make your system slower or even crash.
Just install the codecs you will really need, and your system tend to be fast, and free of crapware.

By the way, where can I see what´s new in this version (or any other version) of DivX? I always have trouble to find the changelog for this application.

@33 Everybody is allowed to ask for something and ask if there is coming something out for mac… Seriously keep it low guys man. The program is cool. The editors might not have so many mac users? who knows go ask them on the forum.

h.264/AVC is one of the allowed codecs for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Which optical disc is DivX a standard for?
btw, I use a laptop for everything. No h.264 problems here, HD works without a hitch. Payed just over $1000 for it too ;]

DivX and XviD for the win – at least for all those watching their movies burned on DVD. Stand-alone-DVD-players usually don’t accept x264/h264. So please ALWAYS release movies in DivX or XviD.
