Just use FFDShow and you’ll never need any other codec again. FFDShow includes DivX and Xvid support plus a boatload more. Except Matroska ;)

Latest version of DivX has the best support for multicore CPU’s! The encoding is 2 or even 3 times faster than XviD!
Oh and it also supports encoding video at resolutions up to high-definition 1920 x 1080! One of the best codec ever(blazing fast conversion).

    @14

Try h.264. So much better than crappy DivX. Smaller file and better video.

h.246 washes out the blacks to create less black pixels/less filesize… meaning, it licks balls.

Some funny comments, some good ones.
Firstly, who cares about macs? Seriously… why consider about 10% of the users when majority are on PC.
This site puts out what is available by scene groups for most users, which is fair to say about 90% PC users.

2nd, x264 or H246 or whatever you want to use, are not the standard. DivX and XviD are. Until there are more consumer products that are using other formats, people should be putting out DivX and XviD material. This will change eventually (we hope), but for the time being - - it is what it is.
I agree there are better formats but doesn’t take a genius to know you will have more users who want something that is more compatible for their hardware and portables.

Back on track - - nice release and does what it’s suppose to. Like it, download it, don’t like it, move on.

“HigherIQ? you just killed your comment off with irony, congratulations. lol”

Rofl. Well said. Quite selfish to not consider 10% of the world which is actually 600 million people, just to make an extreme comparison. Once you go Mac, you´ll never go back!

DivX and XviD for the win - at least for all those watching their movies burned on DVD. Stand-alone-DVD-players usually don’t accept x264/h264. So please ALWAYS release movies in DivX or XviD.

DivX Create Bundle kills h264 in the end because it cheated on him.

Yeah - even here I find spoilers to spoil it all for you! Am I the president’s giant a$$hole or not? :-D

Anything but that DivX junk *ewww*

I dunno why anyone still bothers with that junk, especially when x264 and xvid are FAR, FAR better, and free.

    @33

h.264/AVC is one of the allowed codecs for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Which optical disc is DivX a standard for?
btw, I use a laptop for everything. No h.264 problems here, HD works without a hitch. Payed just over $1000 for it too ;]

@33 Everybody is allowed to ask for something and ask if there is coming something out for mac… Seriously keep it low guys man. The program is cool. The editors might not have so many mac users? who knows go ask them on the forum.

Remember what the forum is for and it’s disc. like these :D

I comiled the files to one so that you people dont have to wait if you dont have Pro accounts there and here.

Mac users deliberately chose to have a platform that seriously lacks software. It is not even 10%, but much more less, only relatively popular in US.

what is better k-lite codec pack or Divx.Create.Bundle.v6.8.0.5 ??

  41. Warel
    March 29th, 2008 | 17:39

@45 K-Lite, as the name says, is a codec PACK, and it means a lot of codecs. Divx is a single codec. You will still need to install other codecs to handle other types of video/audio, like AC3 or OGG/vorbis. Or you can install FFDShow and enable it´s options to handle most of commom types of media.
My personal opinion is: NEVER install a codec pack. They have a great chance of make your system slower or even crash.
Just install the codecs you will really need, and your system tend to be fast, and free of crapware.

By the way, where can I see what´s new in this version (or any other version) of DivX? I always have trouble to find the changelog for this application.
    And thanks all!

Ok, I have DivX 6.0 (I think) installed on my comp. Other than the codecs I really haven’t used any of the other Divx features.

Is this worht installing if I’ll only use it to watch downloaded videos? Thanks in advance

just a trick that you should know is that if you want to use h.264 x264 codecs is to choose an avi container so it will be played by all standalone home players in the market! you can also use MP4Cam2AVI software to convert mp4 file to avi ! if you are a scene team, please always choose an avi container! btw dual audio is also allowed for avi and most people don’t know it! ;-) have fun and happy encoding :)

@46 I have no idea what any of that means!

All standalone DVD players with (Ultra) DivX logo will support the playback of DivX encoded movies.

Those with USB port even support direct playback of DivX movies from most USB storage device, there is no need to put the movie files on CD or DVD media.

There is no DVD player that can playback H.264 or X.264 encoded movie as far as I know.

For me, I bought a US$500 250GB multimedia player like DViCO M-6500A to solve playback of different type of file & video formats: mkv, .avi, .wmv, .mpg, .iso .vob, .ifo, .mp4, .asf, .tp, .trp, .ts, .m2ts, .mov(H.264); MPEG 1/2/4, AVI, XVID, WMV9(MP@HL), H.264(BP@L3, MP@4.0 and HP@4.0) , AVC(HD) , VC-1(MP@HL, AP@L3).
