    i have all the main players that we all use but ive always found that the DivX player looks the best, especially on my hdtv that i use for watching movies……it just looks a lot more defined and less pixelated than vlc or mpc…..and the DFX audio enhancer is great too….anyone else prefer it?i dont see what the fuss is about vlc apart from being able re sync and change the aspect ratio

    And it’s free.

    xvid is a better encoder, and Kmp player is far better than the divx player (or any other player for that matter) the divx player is a joke, only total noobs would use that

    VLC is the only way to go. I’ve tried practically all the players and I’m sticking with vlc. It has everything I want in a player - can handle any file format (except real, but come on - who uses that format anyways?) without any codecs to download, has a nice clean and clear interface, and best of all, out of all the players out there, vlc is the most resource efficient where everything else is a resource hog. This makes it great for all systems - even ancient ones! Can you honestly tell me that your player can play movies on a 500mhz system with just 256mb of ram without any hiccups at all? VLC can!

    I am a noob (as said before) so how do I use the keygen? I know I pick the product, click generate and put it in the register place but I don’t see a Register This Product button. Any help would be nice

    @eric
    i haven’t done or use this in a long time but there might be a “register” .exe in the Divx install folder on the C drive.
    Go to the program folder where divx is installed and it might look like reg.exe or something. Sorry i can’t remember. If you click on it, it will give you a window to place the generated key you copy/paste and ur off…..i pretty sure.

    @ eric

    You gotta go to Start > All Programs > DivX > DivX Codecs > Register Products.

    Just use a serial from every list on the keygen and it should register everything.

    Strange, just about everything was already registered. Was it meant to be like that?

    @1 & 7… AVC H.264 + AAC/AC3 in MP4 container incl. subtitle FTW! L :D L!!

    Now on topic…
    Just a few months ago they were handing out free Pro version serials for a few days only. Made the best of that chance and now all I need is the legit installer of a newer version coz I already have a key! ;)
    I still like DivX coz it can easily compress videoz for my Nokia Smartpnone with suprisingly good quality/size ratio way better than the 3gp/Mp4 alternative! And the mobile DivX player for symbian plays those files with equal grace! :D

    February 9th, 2008 | 18:23

    @18 Yes mine can! And it can do that in a system with even lower specs!
    This payer also includes everything and it is so modular that you can config it anyway you want! Supports skins in a more staight forward way without changing the type of GUI (unlike VLC).Also it can handle even more formats than VLC for conversion right out of the box with a companion converter tool that comes with it! It is portable & has been ported to ALL of the major OSes. My player is Mplayer-Mencoder combo! :D
    (BTW, I also like VLC though!)

    For those running 64bit windows: Change the path to in the registration shortcut from X:\System32\… to X:\SysWOW64\

    Otherwise you get an error. Just thought I should let you know. :D

    @18 vas es tu namen?!,

    About VLC: Try enabling the full-screen controls and watch as it opens a window that obscures 3/4 of the picture. Play with the de-interlacing options while a video is open. CRASH! Try opening two copies of VLC and then open two videos side by side. You’ll get two slideshows with stuttering audio. Try playing a large MKV file. Another stuttering slideshow, even with just ONE video open.

    VLC is great. But thanks for the divx bundle. I use this becuase my bedroom tv is not connected to my pc. So i have a standalone $34 divx/dvd player. with this bundle it is so easy to just drag my .avi’s into the player and burn a dvdrw with however many tv shows/movies I want and watch it in my bedroom.

    Thank you for making my life even easier.

    not sure why but burning my video dvd’s from divx makes them more compatible with my dvd player.

    I’ve got a problem, Everytime I try to execute the exe on this file I get an error saying it needs to find an r00 file, anyone else have this problem?

  39. vas es tu namen?!
    February 10th, 2008 | 01:30

    @Rekrul
    Yeah, like Jarrod said, you need a serious upgrade if that’s happening. While VLC can handle playing movies on even the most ancient of systems, to do some of the more demanding tasks like you’re describing requires a somewhat modern system. I have a pc running on a 2.8ghz p4 with 512mb ram - which by today’s standards is a little old and it can do what you’re describing without a hitch. Oh, and of course you’ll lose a little quality if you make the window fullscreen - how do you think the picture gets expanded. Magic? No - it has to stretch out the image. I have never seen a video player that can go from normal size to fullscreen without loss in quality - If you know of one please do let me know.
