Directory Opus v9.0.0.4-YAG

Directory Opus is another interesting application which may do a lot of good in your computer – it’s basically a replacement for Windows Explorer which offers everything but user-friendly environment. Although I prefer Total Commander which is yet another level in developement, Directory Opus will be more than enough for standard users used to classic Windows file manager. This is a tiny utility with a lot of potential.

Directory Opus is the complete File Management and Explorer Replacement Solution for Windows. A file manager is, at its simplest, a utility program which presents lists of files and allows the user to perform actions of some kind on those files. File managers are useful for moving files between folders, making backup copies of files, viewing pictures and playing sounds, running other utility programs on lists of files, deleting unwanted files and many other “housekeeping” tasks.

Directory Opus goes beyond the simple file manager metaphor, and offers you a complete replacement for Windows Explorer and many other utility programs for handling FTP, ZIP, viewing files and images, running slideshows and more. It provides you with all this within a user-friendly and fully-configurable environment within which you can access and manage your important data with a minimum of effort. Harness the power of your computer like never before!

Product features:

  • Powerful File Manager & Explorer Replacement
  • User-definable File Display Views
  • User-definable Toolbars, Menus, File Types
  • Advanced built-in Image and File Viewers
  • Built-in ZIP and Advanced FTP
  • Visually Synchronize Files & Find Duplicates
  • Advanced Search and Rename Functions
  • More Configurable than any other program
  • Easy Slideshows…and much more..

I persanolly prefere Xplorer² It supports “tabbed browsing” which really isn´t only usefull for internet browsing but also for file explorers.

Makes my life a lot easyer.

    May 30th, 2007 | 12:23

    elevis: Awesome program!!!

DenkenFrost: as dannybuoy said, tabbed browsing is easy-peasy with Directory Opus

One Zillion Options and you can adjust almost everything to your needs. It takes you almost a day to figure out all the options you are able to set somewhere. Complicated – yes, for nerds – yes. Perfect for you guys :)

What’s the fuss about this program , it’s crap and has been crap for years. It hogs resources like a mother fucker. Total commander is faster, has a cleaner and more intuitive interface and uses less resources.

  9. May 30th, 2007 | 14:34

    This is THE file manager.
Mega-customizable, I remember it since the good old Amiga times.
This new version has the awesome feature to become USBable, so it doesn’t have competitors now.
Believe me, you must try it!

Like most oldskolers, i’ve also been using DOpus for the last 15 years orso. And it is by far the best file manager around and i have tried most of them just outta curiosity.

Total Commander is nice for scriptkiddies and average users (it’s not customisable and the list of options that total commander doesn’t have is way bigger then the list of options it does have)

XPlorer2 is perfect for filehandling but thats about it.

And unlike the comment by Ramsey, DOpus doesn’t hog resources.. the last time i rebooted was sometime last week and its resources are around 7mb..

So for the kiddies out there who are interested, follow this link to get to know Directory Opus: http://www.pretentiousname.com/opus/

And btw, you name me a program that can synchronize with Flickr, Imageshare etc etc

I’m considering switching to this from Xplorer² because this actually has an undo feature, something I’ve seen only in this and Total Commander (and it takes forever to get TC looking how you want)

Directoy Opus was the bobm on the Amiga… I used it daily..

But on the PC, I’ve found that PowerDesk 6 is the best file manager around..

Anyone have any problems with this after installing the serial and rebooting. Says serial is invalid after awhile and the universal patch makes it crash unexpectedly. Need to somehow block this app from contacting opus directly and blacklisting the serial itself. If anyone knows of a solution please post. Thanks.

nice one, Ive always liked DirOpus. :)

the crack supplied with this “release” isnt up to date. its a old crack made for DirOpus 8.2.2.x that by chance kinda works with this new version. trouble is, its not built for this version and it breaks something inside the DirOpus exe making it die frequently.

Ill stash the installer away on a safe place and wait until someone releases a cracker designed for this version of DirOpus.

    May 31st, 2007 | 16:59

on a side note, the patch is unneeded.

just install Dopus, install the serial that’s in the universalpatch folder and turn off the autoupdater!

the serial is valid, and as long as you keep Dopus from contacting GPSoftware it should remain valid! :)

    Directory Opus v9.0.0.4-YAG

This release contains a serial not a patch. What are you talking about???

At least all last 5 YAG releases for Directory Opus include a serial that fully activates the program.

Directory Opus is the oldest file manager, with Norton Commander in second place. But Norton Commander is discontinued a long time ago. Directory Opus is as old as Amiga is and is as powerful as you wanted to be. It is highly customizable. So before say something about it, make sure you first tested it.

    May 31st, 2007 | 19:01

If it contacts Opus accidentally how do you go abouts deleting the serial and re-entering it again so it doesn’t become blacklisted?

  31. WillyWanka
    May 31st, 2007 | 21:09

Say you are going to save a file that has the same name as a file in the location you are trying to save the “new” on in.

Is there any File Manager that can automatically enumerate a file you are saving without displaying the popup window telling you a copy already exists?

People name their files “1″ or “A” or whatever so that there’s a lot of repetition in file names.

My opus is blacklisted, i didnt realise we werent meant to update the program. Now everytime i isntall it, the serial still doesnt work, how do i get rid of black list?

  35. June 26th, 2007 | 23:23

“Total Commander is nice for scriptkiddies and average users (it’s not customisable”

WTF are you talking about? Total Commander has multiple views, directory trees, thumbnail browsing, tabbed file panes, configurable command buttons, FTP and all that extra stuff, and supports hundreds of plugins and viewers. It also doesn’t require installation, and uses very few resources.

Maybe you just don’t know how to use it.

basically the same as Xplorer² ????
    NO!!

Directory Opus has EVERYTHING you want! I’ve customized it with ALL I need, scripts included, and I will NEVER return to MS explorer again!

I’ve tried other software, but NO one is nearly as good as Directory Opus!

mmm I need a crack or serial for the last version =( !!!

we don’t think it is reasonable to spend hundreds thousands dollars to buy a decorating watch. you can use those money to invest in other industry which will return you good profit.
here you just need to spend 100-200 dollars to buy a replica rolex watches.
Gucci replica watches are made by the rating 1:1 according to the original watches, and you can’t distinguish the original and the fake watches when you look at the surface of the watches.
