Diamonds In The Rough-RELOADED

http://www.imageflux.net/uploads/189604916655box.jpgRELOADED has realeased a new game for us - it’s an adventure called Diamonds In The Rough. It’s quite surprising to see a 1 CD release nowadays but lovers of the genre will probably try it anyway.

You play the role of a 20 year old American called Jason Hart. Jason is a high school dropout who works as an office boy. All that is about to change in the beginning of our story, when he is approached by a mysterious man who seems to know more about him than Jason does himself.

The man claims to represent an organization that recruits people who are believed to have “special abilities”. Those abilities could be telepathy, telekinesis, or other extraordinary powers. Jason has had such an ability all his life, fearing to admit it to himself, let alone others. He accepts the job offer for this organization, which is called “Diamonds in the Rough”.

The story begins as soon as Jason moves to a town in the Midwest, where he will be employed doing this mysterious “work”. He will soon start to wonder who he is really working for, and what the purpose of the organization is.

Why are you saying that, therapix1? The story sounds awesome, and the gameplay is the old kind that is a lot of fun to play a weekend night. I miss this kind of games, and it seems to be receiving good critics so far: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/diamondsintherough

I’ll definitely give this a go. Thanks for the post.

    Seriously?
Point and click is great when your name is Myst, Atlantis, Broken Sword, Monkey Island, Space Quest, etc…
The dummies are out Poser. The font is just ugly. No shadows cast, perspective laws not respected, the dummy is floating on the floor… Innovative? Talk about innovation…

Btw, Murder In The Abbey got out a week ago, and it’s by far much better than this piece of crap.

Oh, and Jack. I saw on a rls website this article:
“A message to Jack ” by Xolerman

    It was kinda funny ^_^

    Iron.Man.DVDRip.XviD.AC3-DEViSE

There is an Internal from BestDivX floating around too- that’s the one I’d want to get if it’s better quality.

It’d be nice to post this, I think.

There’s a DVDr from REPLICA available too. I think there might be an retouched single layer version available also.

If it has a good story, that keeps the gamer interested, then innovation isn’t necessary for everyone when choosing something to play. Some people aren’t happy unless they’re criticizing another’s work.

Damn, can’t believe that out of all fanventures (which there are a great many, a lot of them very high quality (King’s Quest 1 & 2 remakes by AGDI (Who JUST released Quest for Glory 2 remake (totally freeware: http://www.agdinteractive.com/downloads/thegame/downloads_snd.html) (and commercially released Al Emmo: The Lost Dutchman’s Mine, also very good, under the company name Himalaya (homage to Sierra)))) and Infamous Adventures, who made King’s Quest 3 remake and are working on Space Quest 2 remake and several original adventures, just to name a few :p ) RELOADED released this utter piece of crap?!? Most of the games made with AGS are free anyways, and of the few commercial ventures there are so many better ones.. I’d recommend the Blackwell series among others..

If you’re curious about fanmade adventures go to the official AGS (Adventure Game Studio) site/forum at http://www.bigbluecup.com/games.php

    ENJOY!!!

I’m shaking my fist at RLD, this just pisses me off.

It’s the second game of a very small Greek company (almost one-man-comany) that released Other Worlds a few years ago. Relax. And the reviews prove that it’s not bad at all.

This game has received on justadventure.com a final grade “A”. It cant be bad. But one thing is interessing: “Diamonds in the Rough has copy protection built in. HANG ON TO THE LETTER THAT ACCOMPANIES THE GAME as it is needed early to access a password that allows access into the Diamonds in the Rough headquarters”. As far as i can see Reloaded has not cracked this game!

    paragraph 4 sentence 1 word 1

    the word = searching

    worked like a charm!

erid: it doesn’t work for me. are you sure “searching” is ‘4 paragraph 1 line 1 word’?

  29. erid
    September 7th, 2008 | 03:17

yep worked for me, but I found it in a walkthrough for the game when trying to figure out my legit copy (the game is well worth buyin!)

Here is the quote use it well

    COPY PROTECTION

At some relatively early stage of the game you will need to go into the DITR building. The first time (ONLY) that you attempt to do this, you will not be allowed to enter. Instead, a window will be displayed with the words “Please consult the letter you found inside the game box”. It’s meaning needs no explanation!

NOTE… the actual number of paragraphs can cause an error! Altogether there are 6 paragraphs. The first one is the opening 2 words “Dear customer,”. The second one is the 2 lines following. The third is the longest paragraph starting with the words “This product was made by ……” and is 9 lines long. The fourth is the paragraph starting with the words “Speaking of the ending, ……” and contains 5 lines. The fifth is the 2 lines following. The sixth and last possible paragraph is the 2 word signature “Alkis Polyrakis”.

there ya have it! I used no hacks … just couldnt figure out what they meant was a paragraph or not. This game is so oldschool! Hope the next one has a turn wheel like monkey island!

    DITR Building
If this is your first visit here, you will now have to get past the game’s security protection. You will need the “letter” included in the game box. Click through the instructions on the screen until you are told the paragraph, line, and word number to find in the letter. Be aware that “Dear customer” is the first paragraph. Now type the word that you found. If you are correct, you are granted entrance. Otherwise, you have to try again. These words are randomized.

Download this letter off of rapid share.
