Der Untergang 2004 HDDVD 720p x264-iLL
Been a while since the last HD-RiP, sorry for that. But here’s another one, and it’s good. And when I say good, I mean VERY good: Der Untergang, released by iLL. This is a must-see for everybody. The acting is fantastic and the story is… well… you know what it’s about. WW2 is a very easy subject to make a movie about (same goes for games I guess, shiny? 
) but this movie is different. It has another approach (through Adolf Hitler’s eyes) and it makes a really good movie. I know, it’s 8+ GB but trust me: it’s worth it. Must-see (especially in HD 
)
In April of 1945, Germany stands at the brink of defeat with the Russian Army closing in from the east and the Allied Expeditionary Force attacking from the west. In Berlin, capital of the Third Reich, Adolf Hitler proclaims that Germany will still achieve victory and orders his Generals and advisers to fight to the last man. “Downfall” explores these final days of the Reich, where senior German leaders (such as Himmler and Goring) began defecting from their beloved Fuhrer, in an effort to save their own lives, while still others (Joseph Goebbels) pledge to die with Hitler. Hitler, himself, degenerates into a paranoid shell of a man, full of optimism one moment and suicidal depression the next. When the end finally does comes, and Hitler lies dead by his own hand, what is left of his military must find a way to end the killing that is the Battle of Berlin, and lay down their arms in surrender.

Martin, sorry to contraddict you but this is NOT a documentary but a feature film, based on Hitler’s secretary’s diaries.
This is a very controversial film: the acting is not as good as you may think, being in German. For a German native speaker Bruno Ganz’s “Hitler” is odd, sometimes even too odd, as the actor’s Swiss origins betray not only in the more animated dialogues. Hitler becomes a character with a strange Swiss accent – and therefore less “dangerous” as the director probably wanted him to become. Overall this is a necessary film, but not automatically a good one just because it was directed by a German star director and played by German star actors.

Really interesting film this is and no Martin, you don’t have to be a fan of war films to like this movie. You just have to be a little bit open-minded since it can be considered a little slow-paced to some people.

Liked this movie, and Hitler too, but Bruno should have made an Austrian accent, but perhaps he is not smart enough…
8 gigs would take me at least .. least a week plus to get. I have got to much over the last month so I will have to skip it, but I will trust your judgement and hope it is good. Maybe next month. I have to let things chill for a while.
Great film. Ignore all the mooks that complained about so-called bad acting. The acting and production values are top notch. Some scenes feel as big budget as any American movie.

i totally agree with those who criticized the movie..
it may be entertaining but still Ganz is totally overacting his
‘character’. his pronounciation is absolutely exaggerated. compared to original speeches of hitler, this shares few similarities.. its only purpose is to make hitler sound utterly crazy. even if he was, he didnt speak in a way that every fool ha d to recognize he was talking rubbish.
as a german its quite hard to actually take him serious, his words always have ‘im nuts’ written all over them. that is simply to onesided, there is no room left for interpretation or even character development.

There is nothing wrong with the way Hitler was acted in that movie, i can assure you that certain people, when angry, shout as much in rage as the character did in his movie. (I’m one of those)… And even more … if the secretary (who was/is still alive when the movie went in premiere) actually said that it was brilliantly acted and resembled Hitler marviously, I don’t understand what people are complaining about.
I guess people always need to complain about stuff they don’t know anything about.

Totally agree with you. Hitler acted in his country’s best interest at the time. He felt that the expanding their borders and eliminating internal threats to Germany were the best route he could take to keep his people strong ans safe.
A movie that looks at the war from his perspective is important for people to see so that they don’t think he was some kind of madman.

I just don’t understand what the German people were thinking when Hitler was telling them they should take over Europe. He must have had a good line of s.h.i.t to convince them it was a good idea.
They didn’t want to be seen as anti-patriots to their country, and they were probably scared. German Army was huge, if he had to he could of killed his own people if he wanted too, in the end that is what happened, he pretty much became a hyprocrite and started using children to in the war and to defend the city. He let the war come to berlin and didn’t want to surrender and alot of some-what innocent people were killed. “just following orders” were never the same after that.

Ganz is NOT overacting, this is how Hitler was & reacted in his last days/hours in his bunker, the few people still alive who knew Hitler well have confirmed that Ganz did a perfect impersonation of him, thats why the movie got so many awards. Besides, I’m baffled to see so many linguists here who can tell the difference between Austrian and authentic German .. Hitler was part Austrian btw

If so its good the subtitles where had to read no back shadow on white text. Its worth a look.

Did this movie have Hitlers dog in it. I cant remember they should make a movie about his dog. Mabye he was an informent for Allied intelligence and gave them info on Hitler as he was killed by him.

Yes. The movie is very good. Hitler is portrayed not just as crazy evil all the time. Even megalomaniacs can show appropriate behaviour sometimes.
I thought this film was mesmerizing. It is so well done — it gives the viewer a perspective never seen before. To me the film was presented without judgement. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in WW2. No wonder it won so many awards.
