Demonoid back online under new admin

A famous BitTorrent tracker Demonoid is back online after months of downtime. The former administrator of the site, Deimos, had to shutdown the project in Canada. There were numerous attempts in relaunching Demonoid under different hostings all over the world, but it always failed after few days. It’s just a few moments since a new administrator took over the site after Deimos stepped down from his function due to personal reasons and relaunched it.

A quick look into WHOIS discovers that Demonoid is now hosted by American server hosting company Softlayer - I could probably imagine a better country for hosting a torrent website or tracker because of legal climax regarding peer to peer websites in the USA, but it seems to work fine now. And as we know the importance of reliable trackers in the BitTorrent community, I’d like to wish Demonoid team on behalf of our whole staff a very long uptime and a good luck in eventual legal battles.

    Hah, I was just checking it randomly as I would every so many weeks, and exactly today it got up again.
    Strange move hosting their site in the U.S., don’t know if I have to consider this brave or stupid.

    I’m about to cry! I’ve been so deprived of a site that has real stuff that I was about to admit myself to a looney bin!! I hope this stays up. I hated the fact that the minute I joined it went down. Someone’s optimism sorta killed the mood by saying that it’s going to go down again in a few months. Thanks a lot.

    i am a little suspicious. they are really hosting it in US? i would think it’s a trap. our laws would really bring down some pain on the host and possible ruin their lives… unless of course, it’s actually ran by the FBI to nab all american lawbreakers…. but good luck all. i hope it’s real!

    but where is the link to the site? I tried hxxp://www.demonoid.com but it says the site is still down and it will give a link to subdemon forums. Is the site still down but the tracker is up or I I’m missing something?

    Yeah! Strange for some reason when i go to demonoid on my PC the new site works just fine and I can log in with my old info. However, on my mac I can only access the old forum even if I am completely logged out on my other PC… any ideas?

    If you are having problems accessing the website because you are still getting the “site is down error” you have to use the ip address. Type this address into your web browser to bring up the new server. http://62.149.24.66 . If you look at the whois posted above you see that this resolves to demonoid.com

    I also have my doubts about it lasting very long on a server hosted here in the states. The so-called “Higher-Ups” will do whatever they can to make examples out of people, just to prove a point. It would have been better in my opinion, to have it hosted in another country, but I guess we’ll take what we can get for now (United States users, use with caution).

    The reason you are not seeing the site, and getting the forums page is because they are still blocking Canada. Hopefully they will fix that soon. Try a proxy.

    it takes usually around 12 hours for the ip change to resolve throughout the world, lag times with DNS servers etc

    Demonoid was the first site that i used.I also use and like TPbay.I just discoverd release log.It’s a perfect world:-))))
