This plan fails, splitting the comet into two sections. What's this with Blueray? I don't understand why most they invent new things all the time. If i watch Blueray or traditional DVD, it sh*t matters to me. The movie and it's plot is what matters. If the quality of picture is so little better that you just and just can see it, but the price of hardware is much expensive, what's the point? Here in Finland where we have had digital TV just for few years, same thing. The quality of picture is so little better that it's ridicilous. And jet the fuzz about digital TV here in Finland was like we where electing new president, or something,LOL. I have played computer games since 80's and watched TV since 70's, and these new formats are totally useless. That's my oppinion. This was in wrong forum, i know but, anyway.

    @Ripe

    "So little better"? Consider yourself lucky for not having to spend so much money in HDTVs and Blu-Ray players… lol :P

    Watch Batman TDK on Bluray with a 42" LCD TV or bigger and tell me you can't see a difference from the DVD version. There is a huge difference in picture quality.

    Some transfers to Bluray do look like crap but done right Bluray movies look real nice. Obviously you won't notice on a piece of crap tv but most people will have a decent TV by 2010/11 at the latest.

    By then Bluray players will be as cheap as regular DVD players and the movies will be priced just like regular DVD's.

    @1 Ripe – There must be something wrong with your eyes or your equipment if you do not see a major improvement between DVD and Bluray. Even video from a BDrip MKV is 5 times better than a standard DVD.

    A plot is important, but movies are a audio + visual medium so picture quality and better sound do create a better experience. I have been re-collecting all my favorite movies in HD format and I am enjoying them more than before because now I see extra details in scenes that I never noticed before. Take for example the movie 2001 – A Space Odyssey – for the first time I could read the IBM badge on the Telepads and noticed for the first time that the badge is identical to the IBM Thinkpad badges, except they say Telepad instead of Thinkpad.

    @23 Ripe – No I know :) But you did say you thought the difference was "so little", but I would argue there is a big noticeable difference between DVD and BD. The Dark Knight (IMAX) is definitely one of th best BDs to demonstrate the difference. The Pirates of the Caribbean also look better on BD.
