DEAD REEFS-POSTMORTEM

I only have one thing to say about this. Why make it 800 MB? I mean that really annoys me. Make is 700 MB so i can fit it on a CD or make a game that’s got more content so i don’t waste 3 GB of space on a DVDR. *Rant over*. Anyway you just get the feeling of budget when you see this game don’t yah? Pirates might be your thing though so yea give this a go. Yarrr… so on and so forth.

It is said that for hundreds of years, pirates from the English island of Dead Reefs were looting the ships sailing by and slaughtering their crews. One of the wrecked ships was carrying an old relic, kept secret and locked by a centennial monk order. It is known to have been then stolen and retrieved by the ruler of the island, Baron DeSantra. Shortly after, inhabitants of the island started dying in unnatural ways one by one. The first victim of this strange series of events was the Baron’s wife, who was killed by her husband with his sword.

Ten decades after these alleged “facts”, a new death is reminiscent of the legend and casts fear on the island of Dead Reefs. A detective from the mainland, Amideo Finvinero, is sent to investigate the death and find the killer. You are this detective. And you will need more than natural skills to shed the light on this terrific case.

Features:

  • A fascinating and mysterious adventure that takes place in the 18th century and spreads over several decades, combined with an absorbing murder investigation
  • Play as a detective and defy unnatural events, solve challenging riddles and risk your life to defeat a vicious killer
  • Truly non-linear gameplay in which your actions determine unique outcomes and endings
  • Full 3D environments using Virtools® technology
  • Stunning graphics, real-life characters, and gorgeous animations

  • Operating System: Windows® 2000/XP/Vista™

Ok, looks like I’m not the only one who haven’t heard of it. Passing for now.

Shiny, burn games like I do, in their ISO form. This way you can fit a couple of images on one DVD and later just mount them with Alcohol/Daemon Tools.

This game got the worst control ever. What kind of retard dev only put keyboard as ONLY controller, can’t program key to use mouse or gamepad. !_!

an 80min CD will actually hold 800meg – use overburn in nero.

(anyway sif’nt just burn it in data mode to DVD and load it in Daemon)

Does anyone actually still use CDs?

Where I live the price difference between CDs and DVDs is pretty much non-existent. The only reason I’d buy CDs where if I had to burn an OS or something like that. Even then most stuff comes on DVDs today, Linux distros and Vista for example.

  14. June 30th, 2007 | 07:48

I only use cdrw’s for windows xp installs cause I use nlite to mess around and add & subtract the iso files. I pretty much use dvd’s for games, music, apps etc backup so if my harddrives crash all together for some weird reason I can just get new ones and restore.

how is it that we get a opinion or mini review of every game thats listed here before its even played? Shiny you have a answer for that? Or are you so enlightened that you just guess at what’s good and whats not depending on low budget which means in your book automatic bad, and high budget titles get a good opinion from you. BEFORE YOU PLAY THEM EVEN lol. why have a opinion just list the damn game and play it first. THEN post your opinion. otherwise it seems very immature the way your doing it.

Seems like a fair game. Runs smooth, game elements are solid.. the music really fits the storyline.

But I’m stuck about 30mins through already :)

Tried this for about 20 mins. Observations:
    - I started feeling dizzy after it changed to 3rd person camera, it started swinging up and down when the character walked. Game chooses the camera angles for you, there’s dick you can do about it.
    - Default keyboard settings were pretty screwed. Check them first.
    - Absolutely no mouse support whatsoever. Looks like devs are hardcore keyboard controls fanatics.
    - Graphics settings can’t be changed from in-game (can be found in Windows Start menu). However, this is the first game for a long time that chose the same resolution that my desktop uses.
    - Backgrounds and environment look good (7900GT, 1280×1024, Bloom on, Trilinear). Same can’t be said about character faces. General atmosphere is good.
    - No crack needed. You don’t even need the cd-image mounted.

The last but one seems to be Acorn as it says boar’s treat.
Unborn laborers looks very much like Ant Eggs.
The last one going about “green” and “eternity” is either graveyard grass or 100year old moss.

Sorry, I don’t use instant messengers at the moment…

meat, have you tried just leaving the cemetery? :) Through the main gate.

UFO, to combine something in their crappy interface you have to open inventory at the necessary item, press ‘walk forward’(W) then scroll through the inventory to item you wish to combine with and press ‘combine’(arrow up).

Walkthrough say: “Edward’s room – Go to the second level right wing. Try to get in the door at right and across Patrick’s room; it is locked.

Look at the door and a comment about a simple pin can open the door.”
