I don't understand what's the motivation of posting releases without the torrent, happend also with Zodiac (still no torrent link, besides the one in the comments). Why not wait until the torrent is availiable and THEN post the release?!?

K-Lite?? Now that stuff _REALLY_ gives codec packs a bad name. If K-Lite was offered as a free lunch and dinner buffet to someone who just walked through death valley for a week, I'd say it would be better to starve to death..

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I also use DirectVobSub for subtitles. MPC includes support for subs but it's just not as good as DirectVobSub.
As far as CCCP goes, well, at least it's not as bad as, say, K-Lite because that's just total crap.
But, like I said, I only use what I need, so I don't need anything more than MPC, ffdshow, DirectVobSub, and CoreAVC. I don't use Haali Media Splitter because I don't need it. The default splitter works just fine.

Well, I do give you that.. In fact, if you went that way, might as well choose VLC instead no? Don't even need ffdshow.. Although x264 may be a little less than stellar compared to CoreAVC :)

That said, as far as codec packs go, I think CCCP is the safest yet.. CCCP just has a nice single install wrapper and easy setup for putting the three common parts together, Haali, ffdshow, directvobsub which appeals to me.

I knew that, but ffdshow does everything, so what need is there for all the other stuff?
When I install software, I only install what I need and nothing else. So all that I've ever needed to play any video file was MPC, ffdshow, and now that HD is becoming popular, CoreAVC.
Please give me one example of a file for which CCCP is needed.

@29 - Err, in case you didn't know, CCCP in fact uses ffdshow for most everything, the other main component in CCCP is haali media splitter..

I have to give props to SiNNERS for releasing loads of BluRay rips well before their release date. Big thanks to them! Looking forward to an eventual HDRip of George Romero's “Dawn of the Dead.”

People to need to read NFOs or maybe try... oh, I dunno... the Internet... to search for how to play these files. There are NO set-top boxes, DVD players, BluRay or HDDVD players that will play these HD-quality MKV files! These are meant for viewing on Home Theater PCs or, if you prefer, just watch it on your regular PC monitor.

The “720p.BluRay.x264” in the filename tells you 3 things you ought to know. In this case, 1) it has a video width of 1280 pixels (correlating to a 1280x720p resolution), 2) the rip was converted from a BluRay disc SOURCE (I can't stress SOURCE enough, alot of clueless newbies still think these are the actual BluRay source files, 3) it was encoded with x264 (a popular, FREE, highly-efficient H.264/AVC encoder).

It's all there in the filename, people. Also, MKV is the container format of choice for HDRips. AVI container is dead and obsolete and MP4 container doesn't officially support the preferred AC3 or DTS tracks from the source.

Hope someone got some clues from that. Enjoy!

Now that there's a good flow of hd versions of old movies coming out, we need an HDRip Old category to go with DVDRip Old. That's where the gold is at! Old movies ftw.
