Dawn Of Magic CLONEDVD-iTWINS

It has been quite a long time since last game release and I’m happy that iTWiNS finally breaks this waiting for some decent game title with a CloneDVD of Dawn of Magic. Dawn of Magic is an RPG also known as Blood Magic (UK name). This isn’t somehow epoch-making game, just an average title trying to get some popularity. The positive side of this release is presence of 4 languages: English, German, Italian and French. The game is protected by StarForce so you need to follow instructions in NFO to make this work (just mount it in the latest version of Alcohol).

In a realm of magic, the immortal Modo has been stripped of his powers and sent to live on the Earth as a mortal in punishment for his crimes in the Afterlife. Now the furious Modo is on a quest to not only regain his lost powers, but to gain enough strength to destroy the Earth once and for all. As the story’s hero, players must decide to either thwart Modo’s plans for destruction and ultimately defeat this evil being or to aid him in his diabolical quest. The Bloody Magic is single and multiplayer, 3rd person RPG for PC where the weapon of choice is magic. The game is set in a richly detailed medieval-style world, allowing the player a wide variety of choices both in individual quests and character development.

The Bloody Magic is different from most other popular RPG titles in that the player characters are all of one type: magician. There are over a dozen different fields of magic, allowing players many choices for specialization. This is especially useful in multiplayer games, allowing each member of a party to have different specializations. The most unique aspect of magic system is the ability to combine spells. The The multiplayer aspect of The Bloody Magic is the most innovative system seen in any modern RPG. In addition to converting the single-player story line to allow multi-player gameplay, players may take their multiplayer characters and compete in 2-person duels or in large arenas against many others in true melee combat.

Game features:

  • Highly detailed terrain, characters and building models
  • 3 different attitudes offer 3 ways of playing the game: you can either be the knight in shining armour, be neutral or live through the story as a sinister villain.
  • More than 600 NPCs, more than 100 locations
  • 12 different magic schools with 96 learnable spells
  • Over 1500 items with unique properties, plus runes, skill in wrought iron work and spells
  • Powerful engine with state-of-the-art shader application

Minimal system requirements:

  • Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP operating system
  • Pentium-4 1.6 Ghz or Athlon XP+ 1800 CPU (SSE support required)
  • 512 Mb RAM
  • 1.5 Gb free HDD space to install the game and 0.5 Gb free space to keep the saved games
  • 64 MB video board with vertex and pixel shaders 1.1 support (for example, GeForce3 or Radeon 8500, for example)

If anyone’s having problems with the protection, like I first did, install the latest daemontools.

Lots of really bad user reviews on this game…but most of them seem to be of the demo, and all their complaints seem to be problems with a poorly made demo.
The few reviews I’ve read of the full game seem much more encouraging. I think I’ll give it a shot. Might have some fun with this one..but I doubt I’ll be paying for it.

I thought I was running the latest, but wasnt, went and got latest, installed, mounted the image, have all Emulation options turned on, and the PROTECTION SYSTEM still will not allow it to play. Says there is a detection of emulation software and it needs to be shut down to play.

I shut off the emulation options and it still detects DT…. anythign I can do to get this working or do i need to just uninstall and forget about it?

Question: Do I have to install Starforce to be able to play this? Cuz if so…. I doubt I wanna. I don’t want that fucking crap on my comp.

If so, is there some crack or such that makes it so that you can play without starforce installed?

This game…is not out yet, according to gamespot.

I figured out on mine what the issue was. The image was on a hard drive partition that is in COMPRESSED format to allow for more storage… I moved it to the desktop where C drive is not compressed…. I mounted it in daemon tools 4.0.9.1 and made sure all emulation options were OFF. I hit the shortcut to the program, and the SYSTEM PROTECTION came on, and went off and the game started… I shut down the game several times rebooted and everything and each time I restarted the game and it went straight through the SP and started the game.

  24. April 29th, 2007 | 23:02

I have the latest version of Daemon Tools 4.09 and the protection detects the emulator.

“Attempt of using emulation software has been detected. Please, insert the licensed dis, deactivate emulation software and try again.”

    Tric

No, there is absolutly no support for this game as yet… it was released on the 27th in Russia and the UK, but not in the US yet… as for after market support, depends on how well the game does as to how many folks with the knowlege do other stuff to make the game more playable….
Will you do me a favor… when you hit the shortcut before you install SF it will tell you to install it, but will give you a few more options including a FAQ… hit it, and see where the Can I update this/yes here is a link: URL…
and the Can I Uninstall this?/Yes you can, here is a link to the uninstaller: URL
Would you post both these especially the uninstaller…. I messed up and installed it without grabbing the uninstaller first…
As for it working and messing up the PC… I have not noticed anything, but I have ZoneAlarm installed, and manage it to when I install a program, even before it tries to access the net, I set ZA to either allow or deny, and it saw SF install so I told it to deny along with DoM. Also, when I start any game if it is not a net game, I disable the network card manually, I dont rely on ZA to do it because these are resorces I want for the game…. I honestly dont see you having any issues with this, but you can install it, disable the net, and then uninstall SF every time you are done playing the game….

Use DT + Yasu. Yasu isn’t for starforce, but is good for unblacklisting dvd/cd emulators. You found it in daemontools page.

  27. Tric
    April 30th, 2007 | 14:49

Ok, thanks serp. Can you clarify one thing though? When do you mean that I should physically disable my network card? Every time I play any game or just Starforce games? Or what?

  28. Tric
    April 30th, 2007 | 15:09

Here’s the bit about uninstalling Starforce, from what I can gather…

“How do I remove all components of the protection system from my PC?

The protection system has all tools to remove itself from the system. The publisher makes the decision to include these tools into uninstallation script of the product or not. If the protection system was not removed from your computer during uninstallation of the protected application and you want to remove it, do the following:

    # Download the SFREMOVE tool as a ZIP archive. (http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55).
    # Extract and store sfdrvrem.exe anywhere on your hard disk.
    # Run sfdrvrem.exe.
    # Reboot your computer if needed.

Keep in mind that if any application needs the protection drivers, the drivers will be installed again when this application is run. For further help, please contact the helpdesk of the application publisher.”

i installed the game using an older version daemon tools. now that i was confronted with the problem of the game not starting due to copy protection, i downloaded the newest version and tried to start the game again, but it still refueses to start. i have no idea why, and i think that my hard drive partition is not compressed, but i dont want to waste a dvd trying if the game starts via dvd from a physical drive. so has anyone any solution?

  30. serp
    April 30th, 2007 | 17:04

TRIC, I just disable to net card before playing and leave it disabled durring play… not like i need it to surf or check mail while I am playing….
Thanks for posting the uninstaller URL.

BLAIR, check and make sure the partition it is on isnt compressed, open up your windows explorer, and look at your drive names, if listed in black, they are not compressed, if listed in blue, they are compressed.
Also, make sure that the EMULATION options in DT 4.091 are not selected.
Other than that, I cant help, thats what mine was and it worked after I moved the image from the compressed partition to a non compressed partition.

So,i finally got this game working today. Since there aret many comments about how the game plays i will sum it up. This game is in almost every way that counts is diablo II with what i would call neverwinter nights graphics. When i say diablo 2 i really mean diablo 2 its about 90% the exact same game from “auto pic up look” to pop potions as fast as possible to even the damn ui is almost exactly the same (remember the health bubble on the left and the mana one on the right? EXACTLY the same). Most fights involve clicking the screen so the monster fires his arrow to the left then clicking the right side of the screen to avoid the arrow while finding time to throw an attack in every other time you dodge an attack. You can easily figure out terrain glitchs to kill most mobs. The AI is simply the worst most mobs will chase you for about 4-6s then turn arround. After they turn arround you can simply shoot them again then they turn back. You can catch them in an cycle endless cycle of “comeing” “going” until they die. The dialog is kinda dumb wont really draw you into the story much. The quests are “go out of town and kill 10 wolves and you get a prize” Without a manual its really hard to figure out how the magic system and loot works. If your looking for a life changing game then this wont be it. But, if your looking for a mindless click click click click game that puts your brain on chill mode then i would actually say this is kinda fun. enjoy.

One thing i forgot to mention is the the character creation. This is is one thing i love in an good RPG. This game has none. Your choices of character are. 1. Nerdy bookworm 2. Gypsy with nice rack 3. Fat 65+ y/0 woman called “the bakers wife” 4. Fat old friar called “The fat friar”. You cannot change the way these characters look in any way, no hair color, height, or anything like that.

Maybe there is something in the story later that explains why i want to give a fuck about these characters but right away i just dont get it.

there is a new Dawn.Of.Magic-RELOADED.torrent where the NFO reads:
    1. Unrar.
    2. Burn or mount with Daemon-tools.
    3. Install the game.
    4. Copy over the cracked file located in the crack dir on the DVD to
    your installation directory.
    5. Play the game.

not sure if you install the SF or not…

    TRIC,

“Let me get this straight - is there some kind of danger in having an active internet connection while playing a starforce game?”
I just take the precaution of haveing it disconnect JUST in case… makes ME feel better when it is running….
