Any remote can be used with VLC you just use Girder which in its most basic form takes the input from your remote and changes it to key strokes. You just define those to be the hot keys that VLC uses.

My personal preference for the HTCP is Zoom Player… It just looks the cleanest. For the PC I use MPC for almost everything. If I have something weird or corrupt then VLC to the rescue. It will play anything. I think if you gave it a text file it would make something pretty good out of it!

As far as powerdvd… I havent liked the interface of the previous versions. I doubt the hardware acceleration is enough to get my HTCP to play HD without jitter anyway. I did install some version to get the MPG2 or AC3 decoder out of it, cant remember exactly.

What the hell does a video player need 100MB for?!?!?!

what remote control’s are compatible with VLC? I obviously don’t want to watch a 1080p video on tiny 19″ computer monitor, so I need a media player app that can be controlled by a remote control while I watch on my 47″ LCD in the living room. like the microsoft remote does with windows media center does.

Of course, the stuttering issue was due to the fact there was another instance of PowerDVD.exe running, which had hung and using already 50% of CPU resources..

Also, when i last time uninstalled Cyberlink PowerDVD ->goodbye decoder, no DVD Playback after that..So i had to reinstall it just for the decoder. Although i had Nero 8 Ultra installed at the same time, for some reason Nero’s decoder wasn’t working (could that have been because i didn’t install Nero Vision/Home/Recode or any of those multimedia parts of Nero, only the burning stuff.)

I seriously hope they have fixed the problem that i had with the previous versions of this software.

After watching a DVD for some time the CPU usage could go through the roof and make the video stutter.

I haven’t had that problem with BSPlayer PRO’s DVD playback though.

Then after Exiting the program, if i would fire up taskmgr there would still be a process PowerDVD.exe running with CPU usage ~50%. Pretty annoying having to shut it down twice.

You should just be able to rename the .mkv to avi and powerDVD should be able to play them….works for me

Will this play avi and mpeg from dvd others ive tried freeze when playing a file from dvd. I use this as it allows me to use my remote control vlc wont. my older version plays files from dvd, these newer ones i find freeze freeze freeze.
