Crysis Demo from Crytek

I know, little late, we do not really post demoversions, but this is something you can’t just miss. Probably the best game of this year, sci-fi first person shooter Crysis is here and you can try the first level of the game in this singleplayer demoversion, together with Sandbox level editor. The full game will hit stores on November 16. The installation file is super huge, 1.8 GB will probably take you some time to download.

Crysis demo download mirrors: EA.com, FileShack, FileFront, GN-Network.de, Clan-Ak.de, Exp.de, GameDemos.de, Fragland.net, OnlineWelten.com, Softpedia, Actiontrip, Fz.se, Gamershell, CGO, GGmania

Hardly overrated. This is a good download and probably the best demo for a game probably ever. Hopefully the game follows closely. A few minor annoyances, but the game allows you to play a lengthy part of what appears to be the beginning of the game with full use of your suit and on any of the 4 difficulty settings.

    Good stuff.

I actually liked farcry, I was waiting for this game when I heard it was being made with the new engine. It looked good last year, but I think the hype will make the game kill itself. The suit is ugly as hell. I also read that crytek shouldn’t of released details and screenshots of the aliens. Ialso think the game requirements are too high. I will not update just for one game. I know I will have to sooner or later but I can wait til motherboard prices and memory and videocards are low, once I see a highend card around 180 bucks i will upgrade. I also think 1.8 gigs for 1 level is way to much for a demo. I remember when demo’s were 40 megs :/.

    Dual Core AMD x2 5000+, 4gb and 8800 Ultra

I don’t get it. BioShock gfx similar to Crysis, still it won’t work by any means. And Crysis will work. And H-L2 Episode Two works totally perfectly. And looks kinda similar to Crysis.

Does it mean that Unreal Tech. (BioShock) guys are n00bs when compared to Valve (H-L2)? :>

What is so unusal with a 1.6 gig demo, there is one of those released quite often nowadays, and I dont think 1gig memory and a 256k videocard with directx 9.0 is “ridicilous” specs for anyone who bought a (rather cheap) computer in the last three years.

this game is nice yes but its not THE BEST GAME ive ever seen.
graphics are really good but gfx is not everything ;)

just another totally overhyped game with crap balancing and bad overall performance, sp might be good but the mp is horrible

and yes i played the beta over 6 months ;)
and yes i also own a high end quad core with 6 gigs ram and a 1 gig vram gfx card and the performance still sux for nowadays.

  61. Josh
    October 28th, 2007 | 00:28

    @ ballllls

During the press releases the makers of crysis said that they had to disable parts of the game because todays hardware could not possible handle it. these additional pieces of the game will be enabled 2 or 3 years from now when there is hardware out that will be able to handle it.

With that said can you really think that a 2 year old computer will be able to play it at a decent framerate with the eyecandy turned on?

Its your whole computer holding you back your proscessor, ram, hard drive and to some extent even your video cards.

  62. aerowen
    October 28th, 2007 | 00:50

AMD64 X2 4200, with 2gb ram, and a brand new 8800 geforce card, I can play the demo at 1600×1200 on high settings. But in some places it does get a bit shocky, so for a bit better constant framerate I’d probably have to use a couple medium settings.
Awesome demo btw.. also install the sandbox editor and open the multiplayer map. You can also place helicopters, tanks and hoovercrafts etc, although some don’t have any sound effects yet. The singularity tank with the huge nuclear-ish blast effect is pretty cool. Too bad you don’t see the blast itself in the demo, only the destruction it does.

Well the game set everything on the lowest spec for playable framte, but I had other ideal’s.. I set everything on high except for shadows effects cause shadows effects are useless to me. I was getting 5 fps but it was somewhat playable :) . The game does look good at the higher settings, like water effects and explsions and the moon and the stars.. etc.. it is a fun game and the weapons rock. I really like the HUD GUI.. I guess I like everything about it. Except the storyline. We just happen to fighting north koreans? Not likely.. Of all the countries north korea is not one I think we would be fighting in 2020.

    To post 73@

Gainward ExpertTool, but i think the motherboard bios did this by itself when i installed the new System Ram some time ago.
The motherboard is a MSI with MSI Bios.
don’t ask why, it just did that.

The first time i saw this was in the Display properties>Advanced

here i can clearly see this:

    512MB Dedicated Video memory
    546MB Shared Video memory

  73. 8600 GTS overclocked

    Yes i’m sure..

“Total Available Graphics memory: 1058 MB”

    so what would happen if you buy a 8800GTS 640 MB? maybe 640MB + 512 Mb .. i don’t know

But i’m gonna find next year.

dah you get low Fps becouse you run the game in a horrible high resolution.

try using much lower resolution, higher resolutions are difficult to use becouse of the small Text and that you see no diffrence in qality.

    NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    Direckt x 9.0c

I run Bioshock no problems, but I cannot seem to run properly this demo. I can play but it’ got lots of ‘invisible mountains, people are just eyeballs, invisible guns yet the in-game hud is perfect. Might it be the version I downloaded or maybe something harware malfunction?

    Kinda clueless here

In the game lower the console and type r_displayinfo 1. This will show FPS. There is a console in game for a reason you know….

If you have a graphics card within the 8600gt/ 8800gtx range. Than this is a good game. It’s standout points? Presentation, and thats about it.

    pros:
    1. Amazing graphics,
    2. Amazing Physics,
    3.good special Abilities

    Cons:
    1. Concept/story RIPPED from predator 1.
    2. Generic Gameplay with special abilities thrown in..(how original..)
    3. Plays piss poor on even a “just above average” computer rig.
    4. Goals/aims: Recieve generic orders from your commander, complete them, and recieve more generic orders. fun.

    Bottom line…
If you are a graphics junkie, than this game is for you. Used to love FPS, but there is only soo much you can do with one. The biggest benefit any fps should recieve is an amazing storyline. There is none in Crysis. Just a generic scenerio, another thing… It plays nearly identical like Far Cry…

I fell for the hype, and ended up dissapointed. piss poor.
