The demo to this game came out in South Africa last year or the year before that. I remember it came packaged with a NAG DVD. I love this game. I bought it...

I was reading the posts by someone and guess what, I think he's right. I'm a software developer and I make software (or games depending on the situation). I do my freeware stuff for myself. I charge companies and people when they want me to do things for them.

I don't like to sit and listen to people whine about the fact that there are bugs and stuff in software, it's the reason why programmers sit and work them out.

You may not have realized this but most software states that *after* you buy them you'll be granted to updates for the rest of your natural born lives.

This defeats the purpose of whining when bugs are found. So screw you whoever tells a developer that they should not charge for whatever they create...

@38, thank you for the game Petri. I always like to see ewho I am stealing from, I am not one to run behind a little old lady and snatch her purse, but face to face is another story.

Now you can make some friends, hopefully one that will help you write protection that may work for people who can't be bothered cracking a $20 game.

@77 Someone.

Your post and my addendum post were probably fighting to get on at the same time :-)

Anyway, yes you are right. Opinions will differ and this is good. In the end only time will tell which will be correct.

The fears of piracy in music a few years ago are now starting to disappear. Only time will tell if this will be true of the gaming industry.

In the end, my belief is the public like in other industry will do the right thing and support the people that give them joy, directly.

Cheers. And nice debating with you.

Addendum:

I did watch this video presentation a while back (a year or two ago). "Piracy is good?" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1720068211869162779

So, some of the ideas may have been stuck in my head.

'When you copy something and claim it as your own it, that's plagiarism. When you copy something and reference where you got it, that's research'

@Someone

So did you download and play this game? And more importantly did you pay for the $20?

Because it seems that couple of those leechers that don't pay for games actually did fork out the cash. (I'm assuming that they leech, cause their posting on this site. Otherwise, why are they on here?)

And no, I didn't copy my blog from somewhere, but it would have been easier if I did.

And no, I still haven't play this game.

i read all the posts here and I agree with #62, this guy put most likely years of his life into this game he could have spent that time working for a salary but he took a risk that if he made a good game people would pay for quality, he deserves to make money from this.
I don't think anyone here can hand on their heart say that downloading any game,movie,album is right. I do it, but i am not proud of it. If everyone was like us would there be any games,music or movie industry. If you couldn't make a living from it how would your favourite band ever have been able to justify giving up a normal job to go full time?
Would you work for a number of years full time if you though you were not going to make a cent.

To those who say "i download to test it and then I buy", fair enough (there is alot of crap games) but how many on here actually do buy it (or uninstall if they don't buy).

I played the game, I liked it, not enough to spend $20 on it so I am uninstalling and deleting the download.
I know this post will get flamed but most on here know it is true.

I wrote a pretty long post this night and it seems like it got lost or whatever. I basically said:

Wow Smithy, what the hell, did you copy some blog post about the MI and tried to adapt it to this case? Well... done.

But thanks for mentioning the MI, people downloading music are even more pathetic than you. You know what? Listening to music is a privilege either, you pay you listen, you don't you don't listen, it's as easy as that. What made people think that if something seems unfair to them, they may ignore rules/laws? Does anyone ever go into a shop and steal things that are too expensive (Spare me with "but copying is no physical stealing", you get the point). The reasoing is even better "Well the MI charges too much money, so I take the right to download their music", "The MI makes crappy music and casting bands... so I download their music (wait, didn't you just say it makes crappy music?)" and so on. We as the customers have the power for god's sake. If we don't like the pricing policy, stop buying their music and even more important: Don't download, it gives the MI the strongest weapon at their hands because they can reason all their doings with "Well, piracy forced us to do this and that", but the average leecher is a dimwit from my experience, just as Smithy here demonstrates.

So, back to topic:

You say (well, your copied blog post says but you posted it...) you don't like trials. Well, you know there are time trials with full access to every feature locked to 30 days. You probably don't know that cracking time trials is amongst the easiest things to crack. Do you think someone would let you test drive a car if the change of you stealing it was above like 1%? I doubt it but on computers you can't ask for you ID so they can sue your ass if you don't return the car so deal with it.

And last but not least: What do you think made the author write the commercial version in the first place? The huge success of Crayon Physics, of course. People KNEW about the game, people DEMANDED a full version of Crayon Physics. Do you really (as in really) think, Mr. Purho NEEDS promotion on a page full of dishonest leechers, in a post alongside about 10 links to some rapidshare download? As I said earlier, your excuses keep being pathetic. Go away with your wannabe economics knowledge.

The reasoing is even better "Well the MI charges too much money, so I take the right to download their music", "The MI makes crappy music and casting bands… so I download their music (wait, didn't you just say it makes crappy music?)" and so on.

You say (well, your copied blog post says but you posted it…) you don't like trials.
