Cormega – Born And Raised 2009-BEEF

Born and Raised is Cormega’s highly anticipated follow up to The True Meaning which won the Source Magazine’s prestigious “Underground album of the Year” award in 2002 and his critically acclaimed 2001 debut The Realness.

Cormega, real name Cory McKay, grew up in the Queensbridge Housing Projects, forming childhood friendships with future rappers such as Nas, Mobb Deep, Nature and Capone-N-Noreaga. Noted for his vivid and poignant narratives about inner-city life, Mega gained notoriety in the 90s, despite still being incarcerated, following a shout-out from Nas on his song “One Love” on the classic Illmatic album.

After his release from prison in 1995, Cormega became determined to pursue rapping. Nas featured Mega as a guest on “Affirmative Action” from his second album It Was Written. From there Cormega started his own record company, Legal Hustle Records and dropped the two aforementioned releases.

Born and Raised features an all star cast of legendary producers including DJ Premier, Large Professor, Pete Rock, LES, Buckwild, Havoc, Nottz, Easy Mo Bee, Ayatollah, Fizzy Womack, and DR Period as well as appearances from EMPD’s Parish Smith, Brand Nubian’s Grand Puba, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Tragedy Khadafi, Mobb Deep’s Havoc and Fame of MOP. This album is a must for any true Hip Hop fan.

    @mr. mdma.
    Cormega has been around for decades, he’s not just another fool spitting about money and material things.
    He’s noted and well respected for telling his side of the story of growing up in QB and his rhymes are often much deeper and more meaningful than the average rapper.
    He is one of the greater hiphop artists of today.

    Legal Hustle RECORDS is HIS record label, and did you even think about what it means? Legally making money and living your life, it doesn’t sound that crappy and stupid to me?

    What about Murder Inc., Aftermath or any other label with a name I’m sure you think is stupid? Good artists are not determined by their label name. Although bigger and better labels will sometimes attract greater talent, it can come from ANY label and the name usually has nothing to do with it.

    Please think about what you’re saying when posting something like you did, it just makes most of the more knowledgeable people reading it think that you have no idea about what you’re talking about…
