Since it does not have an option to keep it on-top of all windows when playing.

To have it permanently in op-top mode:

    edit the following registry entry

hkey_current_user/Software/IntervideoDVD9 click DVD9 and in the registry editor right click VIDEOWINDOW and change the value from 0 to 1

    April 14th, 2008 | 13:40

I tried this the other day, it requires you to register just to install!!!
I’m sticking with the latest version of PowerDVD, it’s enhancments work with divx/xvid files as well as DVDs whereas WinDVDs enhancments only work with DVDs.

    April 14th, 2008 | 14:20

Interesting, but in this release, the windvd.exe installer extracts 2 files into your user temp folder. The first is an explorer.exe (what starts right after the extraction) and the second is the real windvd installer (you can look into it with winrar). Maybe I’m too paranoid, but this explorer.exe looks like a trojan to me…

    RealPlayer = 9.7MB <– Old Version

    AMD64 = 14.8MB

    Windows Installer 3.1 = 2.5MB <– It’s common.

    April 14th, 2008 | 22:18

@44 zabhi: “My monitor on my laptop is not a HD one, will I be able to play HD movies and get HD quality with this program?”

Yes, the revolutionary ALL2HD feature uses bit-shift pixelmapping in frequency space, such that the pixel resolution gets doubled in time domain. So to actually enjoy 1920*1080px (FullHD) you only need a 960*540px display. BUT your screen has to be fast enough, otherwise you get smears.

  49. Eremir
    April 14th, 2008 | 22:20

It’s not Win DVD 9 Plus BR version, just plain vanilla plus version, without BR, same as trial …

  50. superdave
    April 14th, 2008 | 22:20

Anyone have a THinstall version of this? Win/PowerDVD sure can mess with your system…

  51. Oblodo
    April 14th, 2008 | 23:12

@52 I do not know what you have downloaded, but the release mentioned in this post is BR capable. Works like a charm, no virus in keygen, and easy install. The ALL2HD feature is fantastic, and makes your DVD look even better. I have a BR burner, and a HD-DVD drive, and both work fine with thos player. I use VLC for most files, but for mpeg 2 and BR and HD-DVD’s I use this. It does not work with the mkv wrapper, so i have to use MPC or VLC for those.
Make sure you get it from the right newsgroup or private torrent. Rapidshare and public torrents are a waste of time..

@51, If you mean better picture quality, sure.. BUT NO HD on a none HD monitor. You can be all the expert you think you are.. but there is no way in hell you can make gold from salt….HD is the resolution(720p or 1080i or 1080p, not 540p). You can not magically make a screen HD if it is not HD from the begining. Sure you can up the frame rate, or enhance the picture, but not make more pixels appear.

  52. Eremir
    April 14th, 2008 | 23:29

    @54:
The version is the same as in the trial version that appeared a couple weeks ago (9.0 B14.084). Also, the program menu bar states Corel WinDVD Plus, NOT Corel WinDVD Plus Bluray as it should.

  53. M0j0
    April 15th, 2008 | 00:40

Got tempted by the word upscalling.. stay away..Its a virus packaged in a pretty box.. just downloaded and tried to install. before even begin.. got myself screwed up..ton of stuff. antispyware master some other trojan poped up. Appears to be a original repackaged to spoof..

  54. TitosCrackDealer
    April 15th, 2008 | 01:16

Yeah, the upscaling aspect sounded nice. I never watch physical DVDs, I always download my warez, HUZZAH! I like PowerDVD but it never uses hardware acceleration, only on mpeg files.

So having a program upscale downloaded movies would be snazzy on a 24″ 1920×1200 monitor. I need my animal porn to come in as clear as possible for maximum strokage effect. 3===D

  55. Oblodo
    April 15th, 2008 | 01:47

@55 the one I downloaded from Usenet with the same name as this post plays my BD media no problem, so it must be the Blu-ray version…

To the ppl getting vira and stuff, you are downloading from a torrent site.. right? Easy as pie to spoof a release…
Only get your files an stuff from trusted sites.. Just because you think you have downloaded the real deal, does not mean that you have.. AGAiN does not release stuff with trojans and vira…

Thats what I thought, Kanuki. I’m not sure how to stop Nod32 from cutting off the connection to it. The download gets to 100% before Nod32 says its “probably a variant of” (I forget the name–some malware). The protection of the AV is great.. except when it wrongly detects something. ^^; I’ll try your new repacked version.

    @ 64, Help Needed
This may sound dumb, but, are you playing a movie when you try to use the All2HD feature? Because if you just have the player open, W/O a dvd in, then you won’t be able to select it. I had this same confusion when I tried out the earlier CORE release.

So, I grabbed whatever DVD was near (Underworld: Evolution) and popped it in. Toyed with the preferences that way. The upscaling is wonderful. I tried it first in demo mode. Here’s a screenshot (normal on left, upscale on right):

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/Yuna5/Capture-11.jpg

Of course, to be fair, sometimes you can barely notice a difference:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/Yuna5/Capture-4.jpg

Its all a matter of perspective, really.

I jumped the gun a bit yes it does have Blu-Ray HD-DVD support (I checked the info)
But in typical WINDVD style it crashes when I try to load a HD-DVD image with DAEMON Tools,

Too bad it installs a permanent service that monitors the licence. I bet it phones home at every opportunity! I also suspect this to be the culprit of some stuttering while gaming because I had none prior to installing this. I downloaded the RS link provided by the moderator, by the way.

I see some people are having problems getting the KeyGen to work with the Registration & Activation step in Corel WinDVD9.

I will try and add some help on this.

    1. Install WinDVD9.
    2. Once completed, unplug your internet cable.
    3. Start WinDVD9.
First menu will provide three options because internet is not available, choose Register later.

    When DVD9 opens up :
Make sure it is operating in windowed mode - not full screen (this to eliminate some people’s problems to correctly TAB to the keygen while WinDVD9 is running).
Click : Solution Center button -> Buy -> Purchase by Phone.
In this registration & activation menu use the Key Code which you generate form the KeyGen.
Paste this Key Code into the WinDVD9 menu.
    Then click Continue.
On the next page it will provide you with a Installation Code.
TAB to the KeyGen and enter it manually into the KeyGen by using only numbers and small letters, not CAPS, and do not include the dashes (-). If you look closely in the KeyGen, CORE even says that it will be 20 characters long, with no dashes or spaces.
So, enter this Installation Code into the KeyGen and click Generate, this will provide the last code, i.e. the Installation Code.
Enter this with small letters into the second page of the registration & activation menu and click continue, thus unlocking the program. This step should also work if you simply copy/paste it in.

This worked for me without problems as of 2008-06-17. I am referring to the CORE release found on ThePirateBay.org, which was scanned with Norton AntiVitus 2008 prior to installation, without any problems.

  82. seven
    June 18th, 2008 | 09:51

    Meh, typo.

The sentence should say “So, enter this Installation Code into the KeyGen and click Generate, this will provide the last code, i.e. the Activation Code.”

    My bad.

To clarify, you get the KeyCode and Activation Code from your KeyGen and the Installation Code from the Registration & Activation menu in DVD9, after entering your KeyCode.
