Control LiMiTED DVDSCR XViD-HLS

Control is a new limited biographical drama talking about early life of a punk singer Ian Curtis who commited a suicide at the age of 23. The movie wins basically every film prize he is nominated for and the fans and critics comments are absolutely positive. This looks like a very good choice for today’s evening. There’s a blurred “property of” notice, the movie is completely black & white.

Control is Anton Corbijn’s 2007 black and white biopic about the late Ian Curtis (1956-1980), lead singer of post-punk band Joy Division. The screenplay is based on the book Touching From a Distance, by Curtis’ wife, Deborah, who is also a co-producer of the film. The film details the life of the troubled young musician, who forged a new kind of music out of the punk rock scene of 1970s Britain, and the band Joy Division, which he headed from 1977 to 1980. It also deals with his rocky marriage and extramarital affair, as well as his increasingly frequent seizures, which were thought to contribute to the circumstances leading to his suicide on the eve of Joy Division’s first U.S. tour.

…Ian Curtis lived 3 streets away from me when I was a kid!

..it looks to be a interesting movie, and i`ll probably end up buying it, but i`ll be downloading it to watch now.

…now all we need is Morrisey to die so we can have a movie about The Smiths….or forget the movie, all we need now is for Morrisey to DIE!!!

    November 17th, 2007 | 20:29

is it actually filmed in black and white, or is it because its a screener ?

    November 17th, 2007 | 20:34

The movie was meant to be in black and white according to IMDB, but as far as the coolest British movie of 2007, when is suicide cool? Just another wasted individual. I’ll pass on this. Too depressing.

    @ Jon Locke

It is my humble opinion that if parents didn’t let their children listen to the goth-esque bands during the 80’s, they wouldn’t be so emo today.

    And Morrisey’s still whining…

Didn’t anyone tell Morrisey that there shall be no whine before its time?

    @TRON

..it`s the “coolest british movie of 2007″ for the simple facts that Joy Division were pioneers of a new musical sound/direction and that it makes a change from all the sucky costume drama`s that we usually make…so it is bound to get comments and recomedations like that.

..although, i actually think that the coolest british movie of 2007 was Sunshine:-

…yeah i think you may be right, like you can trace the line of overwrought angst back to it`s pre-new romantic source……

why is this a 2cd release? it seems that the B&W would compensate for the 117 min running time… another group oughtta come out with a single cd internal version IMO

Just FYI, I’m sure most of you know this, but the members,
influences and style of Joy Division played a major role
in the development of the band “New Order”, one of my favs.
I think for that reason alone, anyone who follows
electronica should find this interesting. If nothing else,
it shows a chapter in music evolution that is, IMHO,
important to know about. Give it a shot, it’s actually
    a pretty cool flick.

For the unknowing: launch your frost (not lime) wire and do a search for joy division. Clock on all the tunes you see; realise that much of what you’re into now is but a seedling of these boys. those who saw the iggy pop and recognised the ‘hay day’ bowie will know.

search, download joy, you will be happy. manchester spurred some bad ass bands (of the genre i love).

    joy divison
    new order
stone roses (and the ian brown minus his latest album – artist in love writes boll-ocks)
    happy mondays

and a few more i’m too wasted to think of….or can’t…

seriously hook up joy division, your 16 year old friend will think it some sort of new sh=t born of other muzak – little

Yeah… Still no english subtitles for the moment. :(
I had a look on Extratitles, DivxStation, DivxSubtitles, Opensubtitles… but I didn’t find anything.
I will probably give a try to the film without them, if there is still nothing until the end of next week.
