Collectorz.com Movie Collector Pro v5.2.1-TE

Well, this is what i recommend to all movie fans here. This nice tool will help you to organize your collection of movies. I’m using it since version 4, and i bet when you try it, you’ll gonna like it! An must have! ;-)

Catalog your collection of movies and TV series on DVD. Including all movie data (genre, studio, release year, cast, crew, etc.), episode titles and all DVD details (cover images, subtitles, audio tracks, features, etc.).

Adding a DVD to your database is quick and easy, just type the movie title or scan its barcode. The program will then automatically download all data and images from our own online DVD database (currently containing 80 thousand movies and 100 thousand DVD editions). Other data sources include IMDb and Amazon.

Lists your movies in any order, either as list or in Image View. Group them in folders (e.g. by producer or genre). Use the Quick Search feature to find a movie in your database.

Browse your movie collection and start linked movie files directly.

Print a list of all movies or just a selection. Export lists to CSV, HTML or XML format (PRO only). Or export your list to the Notes section of your iPod and check it while in the DVD store (PRO only).

Always know who borrowed your DVDs and forgot to return them.

The Windows edition runs on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Windows Vista, and is available in the following languages: English, Dutch, German, French, Turkish, Polish, Croatian, Italian, Slovenian, Swedish, Greek, Russian, Danish.

This is a nice program for about 5 hours!! It’s quite quirky connecting to IMDB and downloading the film info and searching for your own display image of the film. Then you realise you need a lot of time on your hands if you want to input all future films into the database – i.e every single film you download from then on.. and then you realise who the frigg are you going to show that database to? Well, your dog might sniff your balls but he wont give two fucks about this- and well thats about it cause everyone else -it would take them at least an hour to sit down and read through all the info about each film until they find one they want. On the contrary if someone knows the film they want, you dont fuck about – you just burn it straight to disc, why on earth would you open up this program then! It makes it redundant.

Also if you want to use this software properly, you need a few terrabyte drives. WHICH IS NOT WHAT THE AVERAGE DOWNLOADER WILL HAVE! Therefore making this software limited to a very select user!

    July 12th, 2007 | 22:45

    Anathema,

a few terabytes isn’t far off for the average joe, though. you can get 1tb of space for $350-$400 NZD these days (~$270-$310 USD)

    probably cheaper in other countries

I’m a downloadaholic so I’ll check this out – the ‘rental’ thing looks like a good idea.

    Greetz to fellow kiwis!

    @ koopsta

Not only do you need mass storage space, you also need to be signed up to a ISP which gives you a huge monthly download allowance. Or be stated in a country which doesn’t give a shit.

    Again, a minority.

anathema up there is full of crap. it’s incredibly easy to enter movies into the database all you need enter is the title name and it searches a host of resources for all the movie info including covers. you can do it in batch as well. IMDB works perfectly with the new version, or by using an updated template available for old version (imdb changed formats within the last year)
i use it to index 450 movies located on almost a hundred DVD disks in xvid format. it would take forever to search those discs and find a movie I wanted without this tool.

    July 12th, 2007 | 23:47

@Anathema: Just because you won’t spend the time it takes to make a good archive of you collection doesn’t make this software crap.

If this doesn’t interest you, just move on – simple as that. Don’t feel anger just because you can’t master all programs out there – you’re only hurting yourself.

    Peace out!

from what I understand, you don’t actually need to have the media or actual movie files to make use of this application. For people like myself, who hit IMDB every single day because they are watching 5-6 movies a week, it’s a great way of just keeping track of what you’ve seen, what you have, and would like to see/have eventually.

Thx Anathema! You speak from my heart. I used this program too with the last version and entered a few of my movies cuz one of my friends asked “what movies do you have”. Of course he wouldn’t install the program so I used the Export to HTML function so he can see all the movie covers. Heck, I don’t wanna browse through 100000 Movie covers, nor do the names tell me something interesting. It is like Anathema says, you have to know what you are looking for otherwise it doesn’t work. If my friends ask me to show them some comedies I know exactly what is good and worthwile watching, I don’t need the program to list all 100 comedies I have as there is only 5 good ones anyways.

The program itself is good though I have to agree with the others. It is really easy finding DVD covers and infos. If you are a collector (hence the name) and love having all your information in databases – this is the way to go.

    MEDIAMAN is an awesome alternative.
And not only for movies, it has computer games, console games and books!

  17. July 13th, 2007 | 01:18

Although i think that the program may be quite good, i believe the best program to keep a movie database is Extreme Movie Database, which has been there for quite some years now, and i have to say is the best there is. Everything else is just following it’s lead.

All in all, u can use whatever program suits you, but trust me in this, it wont be long before you get bored adding movies to your database. As others have already said, and i agree on that, your friends – and i know that my friends also – will ask you about good movies recently, which means that all you have to do is lay down the most recent movies in one months time, so if you are a big movie fan, i dont think that you are in the need of having a database or printing thumbnails with covers and titles, or even exporting the database and sending it to friends.

Subscribe to a DVD rental store’s newsletter, and forward the mail whenever there are new releases, and keep the e-mails archived. The easiest way, hustle free.

you dont even really need to enter the name of the movie.. if you actually bought the movie you should just buy the barcode scanner from the site, thats what i did… i have about 500+ movies and i just scan each movies barcode as i get em, and all the info runs through the prog… good soft.

im going thru 1000+ movies, and so far its not as bad as i thought. I can que up all the movies at once in the advanced search menu and than do the rest without having to go single by single movie. I find it interesting lets just see how well it works after im done.

    July 13th, 2007 | 09:14

Hmm..not sure I applied the crack correctly. When I installed it said it was trial software and I would get 50 entries. So used the crack and got to 99 entries and now it’s telling me Trial edition expired. Was really liking the software up to that point though, I have over 750 DVDs so this was something I had been looking for, for awhile now. I’ll keep playing with it to see if I can somehow fix it.

Now this is one kick ass app!

I have a few TB of movies to catalogue and this is just the ticket.

Many Many thanks for giving us a heads up on this Christian, its the dogs danglers :)

You have a big movie collection and want to catalogue it instead of having to trawl through each movie, this is amazing!

    Hi all,

I am the CTO of Collectorz.com and stumbled upon this conversation while looking through our log files.

Glad to see that you guys like our software! I am happy to see that our software is this popular, a crack being available a few hours after the release, that is sooo cool!

I was surprised about Anathema’s comment about the software needing terabyte drives to use this software. The program is for cataloging your DVD collection and only stores information about your movies, take only about 20 kilobyte per movie (including the cover image). So for a thousand movies you would only need about 20 Mb.
I think Anathema is assuming the software downloads DVD rips or something? Weird… Anyway, it doesn’t do that.

I am also surprised about the hassle some of you seem to go through just to try the software, using torrent software to download the torrent, unrarring rar files, applying unfriendly and risky cracks etc… If you only want to try software to see if you like it, why go through all that trouble? Why not just download our regular free trial edition from our website?
    http://www.collectorz.com/movie/download.php

Anyway, enjoy the software. If you really like it and decide to keep using it, please consider supporting its development and getting your own license.

Well i like the program soo much I will be registering for a full version as soon as I get paid on Monday.

By the way the program is not fully cracked, when you get to around 100 entries you cannot download any more info about the the movies.

Well worth a purchase imo, but I would never have stumbled across this program if i hadnt seen it on RLSLOG, so these sites arent all bad :-)

iv been useing the old version of this and comic collector, both good proggys if you have alot of movies etc, i mainly use it so i can keep track of what iv seen and got, to save me from downloading things twice, i dont know about this version but the crack on the old one worked then when you do so many entries it stops working but if i wait 20 mins – a hour it will work again, perhaps it is a case of cleaning the reg what fixes it as someones already said, try ccleaner
