Clubland UNRATED LiMiTED DVDRip XviD-DoNE

posterClublandHere comes an interesting release from popular rls group DoNE. This is an Aussie comedy film. Personally I haven’t seen a lot of Australian films but maybe some Australian film buffs can share their experience in the comments. This rls has pretty much your usual 1 CD DVDRip quality from one of the more known scene release groups.

“Clubland” is a heartfelt comedy about a mother who tries to come between her son and his coming of age. Tim’s mom, Jean, is a bawdy and risqué comedienne still hoping to make it big. His brother Mark helps their mother rehearse for shows. Together, they inhabit a non-traditional household where chaos is the norm, the music is always on, and Jean’s larger-than-life personality takes center stage. When Tim meets and falls for Jill, his home becomes a combat zone as his mother fears this new girl, whose name she refuses to remember, will break up the unique family unit she’s tried so hard to keep together. In this quirky and oftentimes touching tale, Tim must learn to manage the emotions of the women of his life without losing himself in the process.

Clubland opened in the US on the July 4th holiday weekend, the first Australian film ever to do so, under the title “Introducing the Dwights”.

It has good ratings – but I hate it when they have really pathetic comedies that are not funny but they still claim the ‘comedy’ genre.

Haven’t seen it, but mostly all AUS movies are sh!t, and I live there so I should know… :/.

  6. November 30th, 2007 | 05:28

@NuZZ: I’ve heard so many australians calling aussie movies shit :P

Australian accents aren’t AUFUL. At least we don’t turn I’s into U’s like Kiwi’s.

At least Australian movies aren’t hollywood mass churned out sh!t and we are not afraid to take risks. I’ll admit there are some bad Aussie movies but there are also some really good ones, i.e. Bad Eggs, Crackerjack, Fat Pizza, Wog Boy, Chopper.

Having said that though this doesn’t look like one of the better Australian movies!

If you wanna see a good Australian Movie download one of the ones I mentioned in my last post.

    14) They are less in number in Australia, so maybe they do not make that many? (I never even met an Australian so would not know but their population is not that huge despite having their own continent.)

I was wondering if any of the Torrent submitters or us commenting here know of any good Australian or Canadian tv comedies that were good for international audiences :)

When TV Links still worked I watched some, the little mosque and some others the names I already forgot :(
The american comedies are easy to find from tv.com but after 70’s show, Seinfeld and Friends none have been such that I _really_ wanted to watch. Although have dl’d Big Bang Theory-series after it was here on rlslog.
(Somehow I understand almost all of the Canadian and Australian English but not all of the British (and already seen all the Allo Allo, Red Wharf (in which the language is quite hard to follow) and Fawlty Towers anyhow, all of which got torrents for whole series so if anyone has missed them, highly recommend them)

Babe is an Australian movie that is a lot better than the majority of similar movies made by Hollywood.

    @22

Best aussie tv show comedy made this year was probably “Summer Heights High”. Most aussie tv shows take the piss out of aussies themselves so don’t translate that well internationally, but this one might do. Hard to say.

You’re right – population of australia is only 20 million. Combine that with the competetion for oz audiences with US and brit films and you’re left with enough financing for a handful of small (but decent) independents no one overseas will hear about.
The only aussie flick i’ve been meaning to see this year is “Noise”.

Thanks. When I get home in two hours will put it to my torrent client.

We don’t all turn our I’s into U’s. That was mainly that comedy chick who spoke like that on purpose. Most of us actually speak proper English, and we don’t mutate our vowels.

@22 Australia is mainly desert which is why they have a low population density, comparatively speaking. Bad Boy Bubby is the only Aussie movie worth watching.

The rest of you – look at the good movies from NZ eg Once Were Warriors etc, and we have Peter Jackson :D

I’m an Aussie who lives in NZ and loves it.

Like anywhere, both Australia and NZ have produced some good films and some…umm…less good films.

But then, it all comes down to personal opinion doesn’t it? Personally, I’ve enjoyed Two Hands, Chopper, The Castle (Aus) and The Worlds Fastest Indian, Eagle Vs Shark, and of course the Lord of the Rings (NZ). Hope you did/do too.

    Peace.

sorry #28, Eagle Vs Shark was actually one of the crappest auzzie movies EVER (in my opinion)! Despite Jermaine Clement’s role. High imdb rating, yes (maybe a backdoor deal was made with them to boost popularity). The was just simply crap!

  29. Bangfat
    December 1st, 2007 | 13:48

Hehehe – the crappiness is why I think it’s so good. It’s VERY dry.
Eagle Vs Shark is a NZ film. Verrrry Kiwi.

Thanks for your apology though ;)
