Finally the release of Cloverfield has arrived in DVDrip. Its been a long wait and I don’t think we’ve EVER gotten more offtopic replies in the comments section than about this film. There was a huge build-up for this film so lets hope it was worth it. Movie giants Diamond are the ones to release it first and thank god for that because as we all know, Diamond stands for quality. Enjoy the monster mash!

Quality: Theres absolutely no need to comment on the quality here since it is top of the line. Diamond provide quality as usual. It is on one CD and for some reason that has been the case with Diamond recently (whereas often in the past they’ve supplied 2 CD rips) but the quality looks very good anyways. English, French and Spanish subs are included.

Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of hand held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character.

    Wow, i come home from work… And look at what I come home to… 3 sweet movies in the same day! 3 Cheers for rlslog! :D

    By the way, 1080p is no longer the highest of qualities available… My theatre just got a digital screen in it that downloads their movies from private servers in a WHOPPING 2160p… The short Harold and Kumar trailer was friggin’ 2GB large!! Can’t wait for rlslog to be posting up some of those bad boys… It’ll take up my whole hard drive just dl’ing a file! :P

    Kick ass movie. One of my top 5. But.. erm.. DiAMOND hasn’t been doing too good lately… such an awesome movie NEEDS 2 CDs. We’ll see how this goes.

    Big screen??? I hv 50″ 1080i/720p LCD HDTV and a projector but thats 800×600. Most of u guys are saying watch it on big screen. So shud i watch it on projector albeit less clear or HDTV? since the torrent will take an hour or so to d/l i thot i’ll chk for opinion.

    I’d recommend watching it on the projector, since it’s a lesser resolution than the 1080i HDTV that you have =]

    plus the projector might have an equal or more viewing area.

    with less pixelation than the HDTV, so the question’s a given.

    Don’t know your set-up, but if you got an “upconvert” dvd/divx player I would definitely be watching this bia in HD. Personally, I don’t think you can beat the color saturation in a flat panel tv, even if it is a higher resolution than the video.

    @149….its listed on imdb as Language: English / Russian

    so i tihnk there may need to be subs for the russian parts, not positive though and they may be hardcoded….just burned it so hopefully dont need it

    I love the comments… it’s like the opening act before I DL the movie!!
    Clearly a “Hate it or love it” movie.

    I loved it.

    I especially get a kick out of the folks that are slammin’ the Standard Definition version of a movie that was “shot” with a camcorder..hahahaha!!

    (note the quotation marks around SHOT…I know the movie wasn’t shot with a camcorder)

    For a movie like this you really need 5.1 or better sound. The sound on this movie is amazing. I loved Cloverfield but i’m still debating on whether or not to pick up the DVD. I wish it had more special features… Diamond really needs to stop with these 1 CD releases. I agree with #100, #49 and #31.

    It might come as a total eye opener for narrow minded people, but there are a few billion people out there who doesn’t have english as their native language - and yes for us subs ARE VERY important. It’s not that I don’t understand or speak english but its definately enhancing the experience of seeing a film cause it’s hard to catch everything especially if a lot of slang or difficult words are used. Sometimes the essence of a film with a not to obvious plot gets totally destroyed if there key parts of the film where you don’t understand most of what’s being said.

    Hmm, every time I try to extract the dmd-cloverfield.partX.rar files I keep getting the same error “cloverfield.part8.rar appears to be corrupted”

    I’ve downloaded that final part from 6 different sites and it says the same thing. Arg!

    After re-downloading each part againt i get the same error.

    or dl the traditional way via torrent…make sure is the diamond one and uncheck all files but the .r00 then when finished copy that one into your folder and extract if does not work since that single rar file will be in its own folder then copy all the prev .rar into that folder and should be able to extract.

    You wont get all or any of those on the DVD-R scene releases always cut-out the DVD extras , but they could make dvdrips instead.
