Finally the release of Cloverfield has arrived in DVDrip. Its been a long wait and I don’t think we’ve EVER gotten more offtopic replies in the comments section than about this film. There was a huge build-up for this film so lets hope it was worth it. Movie giants Diamond are the ones to release it first and thank god for that because as we all know, Diamond stands for quality. Enjoy the monster mash!

Quality: Theres absolutely no need to comment on the quality here since it is top of the line. Diamond provide quality as usual. It is on one CD and for some reason that has been the case with Diamond recently (whereas often in the past they’ve supplied 2 CD rips) but the quality looks very good anyways. English, French and Spanish subs are included.

Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of hand held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character.

    Saw it in films and thought it was meh. Good cinematography but next to 0 entertainment value for me. Could also be because I’m not a creature flick kind of person, Godzilla and the like never interested me.

    Why in year 2008 they still release DVDRips with MP3 sound? For a movie like that AC3 5.1 is a must! :( The 1.36GB space (2 CD release with 5.1 sound) is not a problem i think…

    What can I say… Crap, total crap. I just wasted something like 50 minutes of my life to this boring s**t. 50 because most of the time I was forced to FF it, so that I wouldn’t fall asleep. Watching something filmed with totally hand held makes your head ache, maybe for a few minutes, but a whole damn movie?
    Anyway, I remember the big talks about Blair Witch Project… Now, this is totally the same, well maybe marginally better, but a total waste of time anyway… Horrible.

    Why do you keep posting that certain subs are included in the release, and then point to a torrent where there are no subs included? This has often been the case recently and it’s really annoying. There ARE NO SUBS included in the torrent posted at newtorrents.

    This movie sucks so much balls guys. Apart from the abnormal headache i got, there was nothing special about this movie. Its crap, you barely get to see the monster, you dont get to catch the main characters names, so you always have that annoying thought in your head “who is he again?”

    Yep. Although there is rumors of a blu-ray releasing the same time as the dvd on April 21st theres no confirmation.

    DiAMOND have shown themselves to be inept, once again.

    One of the most anticipated movies of the year and they pack it into a 1CD with MP3 sound? Mind boggling.

    They recently did Dewey Cox – A 120min MUSICAL – with MP3 sound and 648kb Video.

    A while back, they packed a 140min movie into 1CD. 528kb video and MP3 sound. It was a DVDRip, yet the quality was terrible.

    DiAMOND are the worst group in the scene, yet will keep living off their name.

    By the way, 1080p is no longer the highest of qualities available… My theatre just got a digital screen in it that downloads their movies from private servers in a WHOPPING 2160p… The short Harold and Kumar trailer was friggin’ 2GB large!!     I’d recommend watching it on the projector, since it’s a lesser resolution than the 1080i HDTV that you have =]

    plus the projector might have an equal or more viewing area.

    with less pixelation than the HDTV, so the question’s a given.

    Don’t know your set-up, but if you got an “upconvert” dvd/divx player I would definitely be watching this bia in HD. Personally, I don’t think you can beat the color saturation in a flat panel tv, even if it is a higher resolution than the video.

    For a movie like this you really need 5.1 or better sound. The sound on this movie is amazing. I loved Cloverfield but i’m still debating on whether or not to pick up the DVD.     It might come as a total eye opener for narrow minded people, but there are a few billion people out there who doesn’t have english as their native language – and yes for us subs ARE VERY important. It’s not that I don’t understand or speak english but its definately enhancing the experience of seeing a film cause it’s hard to catch everything especially if a lot of slang or difficult words are used. Sometimes the essence of a film with a not to obvious plot gets totally destroyed if there key parts of the film where you don’t understand most of what’s being said.

    I’ve downloaded that final part from 6 different sites and it says the same thing. Arg!

    or dl the traditional way via torrent…make sure is the diamond one and uncheck all files but the .r00 then when finished copy that one into your folder and extract if does not work since that single rar file will be in its own folder then copy all the prev .rar into that folder and should be able to extract.

    Holy cow, I just came from trashing Charlie Wilson’s War and here’s another one, and this time not just some comedy that can survive low bitrates, but CGI-filled sci-fi? What is wrong with DIAMOND, really? My grandma does better encodes than this on her cellphone, dammit.     to all those who crit the quality.. i just finished watching it on a 42″ plasma screen and it looked just fine.. yes a 2 cd rip may have been better .. but if u want quality just get the DVD replica, or HD rip when it’s out.

    For those of you that dont know how to use a NZB file use a program like Grabit or my favorite Hellanzb. With HellaNZB installed just put your nzb file in the programs directory and it will download it,check the archive(like quickpar) and extract it (like winrar), when its done it deletes the archive and leaves your file in a seperate folder. With Grabit you load the nzb with the app and you need other apps to check the archive and extract it. Try using hellanzb, its great, I got Cloverfield dvdr in 30 minutes, fully extracted with just one 4 gigabyte iso file left in my folder.

    it’s a movie made first hand with a handheld camera. how great could the resolution get?

    sorry for hatin’ on the film’s content though. the meat of the movie was good, just not the bookends…and the actors.

    i don’t really think it’d matter if this movie were HD. DVD vs HD on Cloverfield….I really don’t think you’d notice much difference considering the quality of the film itself.

    Now, Transformers, and I, Robot, those are some friggin’ good HD rips!

And “The film was shot and edited in a cinéma vérité style,[19] to look like it was filmed with one hand-held camera, including jump cuts similar to ones found in home movies.”

    @94: I never comment about movie, that I haven’t seen. I ordered a DVD as soon as it was released at USA (Blair Witch Project and I’m not American). The disappointment was horrible, just like with this. I found nothing even remotely scary seeing a couple idiots running in woods and acting to be scared ;)

    hmmmmm. This movie isn’t that good (at least for myself and others I know). That’s not to say some won’t like it, but I don’t waiting for an HD release will make much difference on jittery movies like this and Blair Witch.
    That being said… the “scene” are showing themselves to be putting out more and more crap quality stuff.
    Sure it was a standard some years ago, NOT ANYMORE.
    AC3 should be in all these movies by now and not lower than 224Kbps (as AC3 below that loses it’s true sound quality).

    We are starting to see more P2P release surpassing the so called “scene” now, with rips now being at 860MB-1400MB with AC3. The age of CDs is over guys. Upgrade to DVD already.

    Honestly getting tired of reading through pages of rapidshare links. Where’s the reviews? Wheres the sarcastic remarks gone?     I have just downloaded the .rar files from 1 to 8. But after unraring everything, I am missing file dmd-cloverfield.r06

    I tried extracting it again from Cloverfield.DVDRip.XviD.DiAMOND.part1.rar but it says I have the wrong password. I can extract the other dmd-cloverfield files though.

    Can someone please upload or send me via email that one dmd-cloverfield.r06 file so I don’t have to download the whole thing again?

    If something runs at 23.976fps, it has to be over 105 minutes to be a 2CD, if it runs at 25fps, it has to be over 100 minutes to be a 2CD and if it runs at 29.97fps, it has to be over 87 minutes to be a 2CD. I think that’s how it works anyway. Have a read of the scene rules for this type of stuff here…

    Wow, thanks for this! Can finally replace the TS vers. DLing ATM, but our internet in AU is slower than other countries. So 1 CD works good for me seeing I’d be here forever otherwise. Will wait until my DVD arrives on release date for special features and that.

    Oh, and to all who say this movie sucks. You need to open your minds and realize a movie that dares to do something different rather than just Hollywood spewing out the same old crap all the time. So impressed by this movie saw it 20+ times in the cinema. Fav movie of all time.
