Chris Sligh was one of the competitors on last year’s American Idol, Season 6. He was a cult favorite based on his unconventional look and sense of humor. This is his first full length album. Although I enjoyed him more than most contestants on the show, the Christian Rock thing really isn’t for me. However, there are undoubtedly some of you out there who would enjoy this.
The debut album, titled Running Back to You, is being produced by Brown Bannister, who has won multiple Grammy and Dove Awards for his work with artists such as Amy Grant, Third Day and The Afters. Other producers include Stephen Leiweke, who helped produce Jars of Clay’s debut album and Will Owsley, a guitarist and producer who has worked with Shania Twain and Amy Grant, and was lead singer of the band Owsley. Sligh’s album will be released on May 6, 2008 by Brash Music. The first official single, “Empty Me,” was added to radio playlists in February 2008

I’m really kind of appalled at this, I am reading this comment and hearing a bunch of people calling rlslog crap because they decide to post one Christian rock album…. so what if you don’t like Christianity, don’t take it out on rlslog because they want to comment on a wide array of releases from the scene.

It is not that people are getting mad over ONE post of christian music… there has been a BUNCH of christian rock/pop postings on here in the last little while.. I can see why people are getting mad!

@40. I agree. Nothing wrong with some Christian music once in a while. I’m an atheist, yet I still listen to that stuff sometimes. It’s just another type of music to me. Being an atheist does not mean you have to treat all things religious like cooties.

who mentioned cooties? i just think its a shame that rlslog is posting so much stuff so few people will like. theres plenty of good music out there. and no, singing about god or faith or whatever isnt the worst thing in the world, but as an atheist myself, i find it hard to listen to religious evangelicalism – which is ultimately what it is when people try to package up their beliefs in their music.
now, im not saying theres anything wrong with selling music that sells ideas, but personally i dont want to listen if those ideas centre around a god.
i have no problem with christians, id just rather not listen to them wax lyrical (literally) about their saviour. and im fairly sure im not alone in that.
the problem here is that rlslog is increasingly posting stuff (musically at least, and i dont just mean chinballs and the other competition posts) that sacrifices quality in favour of diversity. now i dont expect everything to be my cup of tea, but you must concede that this is going to have a fairly limited target audience. and its a shame, because theres a lot of excellent music that could use a bit of an extra marketing push (cause piracy can sometimes be a good thing) but instead we keep getting all these soulless, commercial albums which (next to) noone cares about.
i dont think he’ll be doing any running… this aint a joke subtitle for the album right???

@47. To me, they’re like singing when they preach anyway, so not much difference when they release music. It’s like preaching with added melody. And I don’t like most of the music post here either, but you don’t see me complaining. Because once in a while, I find something I actually like.
