Chocolate News S01E01 DSR XviD-0TV

This show premiered last night after South Park. Being a big David Allen Grier fan, back from his days on In Living Color, I’m hoping that this is funny. DSR, as usual, from a Comedy Central release.

Episode 101
Parodies include Maya Angelou prepares a poem for the inauguration of the next president. Plus, a commentary of the death of Hip-Hop. Finally, a rapper creates a public service announcement for the No Child Left Behind Project.

look! comedy central found another black guy that stoned college kids find funny!
“Look, Bro! The black guy on the TV sounds just like Dave Chapelle! They’re both black, so, like, they must be the same guy!”

Yeah, they’ve pretty much said this is supposed to be the new incarnation of Chappelle’s Show. Sort of looking forward to it, though.

Um… why aren’t torrent links posted? (don’t mention the NTI link… that site is nothing but an annoyance)

Unfortunately, this show is the exact reason why Dave abruptly walked away from his show. This is a nuanced point that many of the knuckle-dragging people that hate books will not comprehend but, this is making fun of race as opposed to making fun WITH race.
According to Dave, he left when he realized that many people were not laughing with him, but rather AT him; that he was re-inforcing negative stereotypes.

I think David Allen Grier has been underemplyed for long enough that this won’t be a problem for him. It was funny at points, but on the whole it was simply “let’s make fun of stereotypes of black people.’

Meh, it is what it is.

caspere, your points are well thought out and written. I agree 100%. Shows such as this are doing nothing but enforcing the black-american stereotype. But unfortunately, some folks will do anything for a paycheck.

    jazzspot its “African-American” :)

And I turned off the show after 10 minutes. I was hoping it
would be like Dave Chappelle or just close..but imho it was
just a show attacking caucasians. Thats not funny to me, just
    mean.

Thanks to the uppers for their efforts tho.

This show has hilarious moments. For a first episode, it was great. DAG can sing and dance and act and do stand up comedy and musical theater.. He is really one of the most talented and underrated entertainers in the world.

Actually, “black American” is becoming the more accepted and appropriate term.

Actually black American has long been more accepted by the people it refers to…..

Anyways I loved him in In Living Color and though I’m not sure what he’s trying to do with this show and w/ his sketches but this first ep. was pretty funny,

This doesn’t poke fun at anyone. If you thought it did, you fail to “get it.” It pokes fun at the STEREOTYPES that people use to poke fun at other folks.
