China to US: we didn’t hack your computers

China on Thursday dismissed accusations from two United States lawmakers that it had hacked their office computers as alarmist and unfounded. U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, a Virginia Republican, said his office computers had been compromised in August 2006 and that he was told by the FBI and other officials the source of the attack was inside China. Rep. Christopher Smith, who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said his computer had also been attacked from China.

“Is there any evidence? Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at a regular news conference in Beijing. “… China is still a developing country. Does that mean we have already mastered such high-end technology? Personally I’ don’t believe that.” Wolf said the computers that were targeted contained sensitive information about human rights in China, while Smith, a New Jersey Republican, said he had “every reason to believe” the Chinese government was to blame. “I’d like to advise some people in the U.S. not to be overly suspicious and not to make sensational remarks all the time,” Qin said. “They should rather do more things that help China-U.S. friendship and understanding.”

Eschelon snoops on electronic communications globally. It is flagarant hypocrisy for the US to complain. So what if it came from within china? There are hundreds of millions of internet users in china it does not mean government was responsible.

    June 12th, 2008 | 12:47

Exactly, so what it came from china? haven’t people heard of proxy servers?

I’m sure a half competent hacker can easily frame USA by using a Proxy server in USA to hack somebody in another country. Then cover their tracks so it ends in USA…..

If the US does some outlandish things its called for the good of the people or protecting our rights and interests. If any other country does even a percentage of what the US does they’re labeled terrorists and criminals. Ugh.

A war with China would be absolutely devastating. Nations would take sides and then we’d have a World War. The price of EVERYTHING ALL OVER THE WORLD will sky rocket. It would be FAR larger and more disastrous than WW2.

We need to decrease the population somehow so maybe we need a war to break out with two ’super powers’. And the price of anything wont be your top priority, staying alive will take that spot. Everyone will have to pick up a gun and pick a side…sounds like fun

This sounds like a load of made up BS. It’s two year old news that is not even at the Reuters website nor my subscription. Why in the hell would a senator from Virginia have “sensitive information about human rights in China”?! He wouldn’t. What’s so sensitive that China would hack a worthless senator from Virginia? What, their communist?! It works for them, let them have it.

How about instead of just saying you got the article from Reuters but an actual link. That’s as bad as Ernesto and his “interviews” with aXXo and Diamond. Neither of which actually happened. Is TorrentFreak paying for space here now also? Has it turned to RLSLOGTF now? Yeah I got ya a graphic you post up.

It is the US government, NOT the US people.

People from other countries seem to have a hard time getting that straight.

I am not worried about a war, I am worried about internet freedom. This could be a “terrorist” scare tactic to justify more freedom taking laws.

    June 12th, 2008 | 18:17

The world is in it’s last days and Armageddon will soon be upon us.
    Look at the signs…
    1 Timothy 3:16 –
“But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power.”
    Luke 21:10,11 –
“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another pestilences and food shortages; and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs.”

The world is going downhill rapidly…

Why is this even on RLSLOG?

Martin, its clear you have a anti US agenda, because you never post anything about Europe. Not the truckers killed in Spain. Not the secret documents left on a train in Britain. Not that Germany supplied Hussein with WMD’s, not the US.

Face it, your a one man clown convention, as are all the other bleeding heart Europeans here. Grow a spine, realize that your ultra liberal society harbors global terrorists for a reason. Realize that your ultra liberal thinking will be the end of you, as immigrants continue to breed at a rate that destroys your culture.

Id feel a ton of shame if I lived in a country like Germany, that terrorists use as a planning ground.

Everyone has the power to change their own fates. We may be divided in terms of colour, race, religion, country etc. But we must realize that we are all the same inside. We are all living beings on the same planet. Goverments start wars. Even if they win or loose the actual loss is eventually for the common man. There are many things that are unknown to humans. Like extraterrestrial life. We will all remain peace full and united.

    I agree with #18

this is quite inevitable, I for one, I don’t like the idea of Made In China. everything nowadays is made there. even the classic Russian boots isnt Russian anymore. it’s built by Chinese. or the American guitars arent built by Americans anymore. it’s built by Chinese. got my drift? it takes away jobs from other people too. what I’m saying is, China gets richer and richer everyday, and this is a threat to global economy and stability. sooner or later they will open a big can of whoop-ass to everyone. be prepare everbody. be prepared.

    June 12th, 2008 | 20:13

And what will happen when they do that ? kill everyone and subdue the others ? comeon thats phisicaly imposible since even Korea wold kick their arse, and dont forget brits, americans, and heck the whole europe wold pwn them back to the chinkyland, ffs, dont make such random “threats” or pointouts, since they woldnt stand a chance, and furthermore, its kinda boring if they wold lets say woop-ass ppl, what good wold that bring to them ? it aint normal anymore. its kinda boring to even think that way.

China is only a threat to the lifestyle of the wealthier and lazy nations. Nations like France and America are going to have to change their lifestyle. Either deal with the 3rd world rapidly catching up with the rest or figure out a way to keep them perpetually down. Of course chances are its going to be the US attacking China not the other way around. Also I believe that most of these cyber attack are actually net map, port scanner etc. Not quite what I called a attack, there are millions of port scans, nmaps etc done everyday.

this is only the start of it.

It will escalate rapidly once US is in war with Iran.

China will not back USA in this way – however I doubt they will openly back Iran either – that will be done covertly.

Russia / US relations will also become strained.

hahahahaha!!! more US paranoia. well if China isn’t hacking US computers it should get started already. US is certainly already hacking Chinese computers! Well funded groups of hackers are being supported by the CIA to damage Chinese interests on the internet! Not to mention the bloody (literally!) attacks they’ve already paid for using religion as excuses. the ironic thing is, the religion they’re using is considered “pagan” and “satanic” in the view of Christianity!
