    @102,

    There are microcode patches but the manufacturers do not distribute them and it will probably suck if you have a computer 2+ since no one will probably care to distribute these low-level patches for them, some seem not to care about system less than 2 years old. The only hope is that intel will start distributing patches them self independent of operating system for us to patch hardware.

    Also I heard not all ERRATA can be patched away and therefore needs hardware replacement which is bad news for all of us as it will be costly. It is a bit scary that you now not theoretically cannot trust your hardware but really you cannot trust your hardware it is even below the BIOS level and other low-level firmware (ethernet firmware…).

    This sucks!

    Sure does. Im sure this one will be patchable as Kaspersky would not leak the info if it isn’t worth any monetary gain. XD

    He should be showing it soon enough and show how the attack effects all OS’s and the breeds of viruses/spyware that it will enable to bypass any software…. BOOO Kaspersky…

    He says he is doing it to show that CPU creators should remove all ERRATA and stop being lazy, but we know its for some quick cash.

    PS @ #99 – you don’t have to install the AVG toolbar, nub… :P

    Thanks nolimits for the tips. I also come across this problem recently.
    I found that, for existing installations, you can also use this method (no need to reinstall):
    - use keygen to install a new license
    - reboot and enter safe mode
    - run cmd
    - run “attrib -h +r c:\windows\system32\zllictbl.dat”
    - run “attrib +h c:\windows\system32\zllictbl.dat”
    - reboot again and boot normally
    It will keep the existing license from being updated.
