Can never recomend ZoneAlarm for any Warez related guy, I have no clue if they fixed the problems they had with data corruption on the newer vers, but it’s a fact that there products cause quite a cunk of network corruption.

    Specialy at high speed connections.

You know, people may bash on their products but I’ve never had a problem with them. I haven’t used it since the last major version, but I had a key that has worked for the last three years so I figure an old would work perfectly anyway.

This latest version (7.1.248.000) is really unstable on Vista, I’ve been using it for over a month, and just keep getting random crashes for no apparent reason I used to get a blue screen and the machine shut down, I’ve removed it completely now and my machine is behaving normally again.

For the people who have nothing to complain about you might also consider it’s hard to say that a firewall is doing a good job, I haven’t ever used one on any of the 5 pcs in my house since windows 98 was released (although I didn’t have 5 at that time :-) and have never once been hacked. So if I’d had it installed all this time I could probably say the same thing too.

    March 7th, 2008 | 20:35

How do you know you haven’t been hacked if you are not using a firewall? : )

when was this released? i have ZA Security Suite v.7.0.462.000
but when i try update there is NO new version available. From where are these versions then?

Zone Alarm is not worth installing to Vista.

Vista’s Firewall is far more advanced than Windows Xp’s and wouldnt require the likes of ZA on it. That’s probably why people are having issues with Blue Screens etc, both Firewalls are conflicting perhaps…?

Microsoft’s attempts at Firewalls in the pst have been crap at best. Since Vista, they managed to get off their arses and have made more of an effort.

More details about this can be found on various reputable websites. Search on google for more information. :)

Piece of advice for people saying you can’t use “keygenned” zonealarm.

I used zonealarm pro for over a year, from a keygenned cd key.

with updates to the Database. not the program.

    anyways, to me real suggestion.

TURN OFF PROGRAM UPDATES, LEAVE ON DATABASE UPDATES.

    kthx.

thanks for the release rlslog! I LOVE zonealarm!

Ive never had a problem with Zonealarm UNTIL they merged with CheckPoint…. Then all the problems started commin in.

The main problem i have with it is:
Internet connection doesnt work after Hibernate.

I’m not the only person having this problem, appears heaps of other ppl are having it on Zonealarm forum.

However checkpoint doesnt even comment or appear to be trying to fix that bug…

I have made sure that it was zone alarm, i install zone alarm and hibernate, then turn pc back on. The Internet connection fails. (Tried that 3 times and all 3 times it does same thing)

Then i uninstalled Zonealarm and hibernated 3 times, and connection works perfectly.

Conclusion: Zonealarm causing internet failure after hibernation

I’ve been using ZoneAlarm since it first came out years ago and all i can say is that it’s getting worse since Checkpoint took over with the newer version. The XP version tends to corrupt your HDD datas ( required you to run chkdsk to fix the problem) and the Vista version sometimes cause a BSOD. The XP and Vista firewall isn’t good enough protection that’s why i stuck with ZA for now keep hoping that they fix all the issues with it.

The Vista version prior to this new release seemed to be much more stable on my machine. This version posted now, I’ve been using it since mid january when it came out and it results in BSOD at least once a day, sometimes after about 10 minutes after booting up, and sometimes over 20 hours later, each time its Zonealarm causing it.

I’ve removed it now, I actually paid for a licence, because I’ve been using ZA for many years without any issues, but after version 7 when Checkpoint took over it seems to be more hassle than its worth. The firewall is great but my router blocks out most incoming connections, in over 8 months ZA blocked nothing as my router did everything

I used to like ZA but now it is just buggy bloatware.

Don’t believe all the people that are pimping “Comodo” either. Piece of crap kept crashing. Junkware.

Personally I’ve been using the 7.0.462.000 pro version for well over a month and seen no problems. It seems to intercept rouge sites real well also. I’ll give this a go with my XP laptop wtf! Thanks for sharing!

    hands off!!!

CheckPoint ruined a good product. ZoneAlarm 6.5 works best for WinXP. 7 was already slowing down systems.
Vista isn’t a real OS, since none is really usin it,rite?!

7.0 is using kaspersky anti-virus, which is suppose to be better than CA antivirus in 6.x, but v7.x never install properly for me, as you can find many complaints (and angry customers) in their user support forum. What a pity…
