Charlie Bartlett WORKPRINT XviD iNT

A nice early workprint of a promising-looking comedy Charlie Bartlett has been released few hours ago. This is rather a p2p release and there’s no group officialy standing behing it, but it will surely be very popular because of one simple reason: the movie won’t hit cinemas until February 22. You could have seen various commercials and trailers and if everything goes well, this will be a real hit. The release is slightly out of sync in first 10 minutes, but then fixes just fine. Don’t forget, it’s just a workprint, some scenes may not be fully finished and effects/audio may be missing.

Wealthy teenager Charlie Bartlett is failing miserably at fitting in at a new public high school run by the world-weary Principal Gardner. As he begins to better understand the social hierarchy, Charlie’s honest charm and likability positions him as the resident “psychiatrist” dishing out advice, and the occasional prescription with his partner and fellow student, Murphy Bivens, to other students in need. Along the way, he decides to take some of his own advice, find romance, and learn to accept who he is, thus wielding a witty dark comedy about the angst-filled years before college.

Rated R.. hmm. I never noticed anything other than it promoted teen sex and drug use… But hell. That is life.. Why put a restriction on life… -lol-
In all honesty tho. there isn’t any nudity or any real foul language in it..

    @74:

HUGE thanks for link to the sync fix!

Can anyone please provide a link to a tutorial on how to fix sync issues in movie files yourself? That way we can all do it ourselves without waiting for an official fix.

I know that you can adjust the audio in vlc and such, but I would like to know how to fix the avi file using ndub or whichever program.

So can someone please provide a sync-fixing tutorial? :)

sync fix tut:. Or how I did it…
    1) open avi in Virtual Dub
    2) save the audio as a wav file (Direct stream copy mode)
    3) use Besweet to convert the wav to an uncompressed wav
    4) load uncompressed wav into GoldWave and ADD 0.5 sec of
silence to the beginnning of the audio clip….
    5) goto the time frame of 9min and 57sec and DELETE 0.5 seconds of audio
    6) save the wav file.. You will have a 1.04GB wav file now..
    7) load this new extremely large wav file into Vdub with the
    original avi..
    8) change from Direct stream copy mode in audio to FULL PROCESSING
    9) Now choose COMPRESSION
    10) I chose 128kBits 48000Hz stereo MP3 format
    11) SAVE the avi..
    12) wait a min or two, and then watch…
It seems like alot of steps, but it is easy to do..
and takes less than 5 minutes to complete…

This is a SHORT and brutal Tut….. :)

oh. and also make sure that when you save your new avi, that you VIDEO is also set to Direct Stream copy mode. There is no need to recode the video….

This release should be nuked for being terribly out of sync for the first 15 minutes or so.

I watched the whole movie, and I still don’t understand what story it was trying to tell. Did Charlie Bartlett learn a lesson and stop giving advice or does he use his advice giving talent to get a job?

Everyone is universally complaining about this being out of sync. Wait! Brendan has the answer with his perfectly in sync joox link - NOT!

@74 me - thanks for your sync fix link! @111 TJW - thanks for your tutorial. But wait! There is a better way to fix the sync - as Brendan claims: “I found it on Joox, downloaded it, and converted it to DVD in Nero… and watched it… with no audio synch problems.” - NOT!

@74 me - did you create the sync fix yourself? @111 TJW - I have copied your steps so I can try your method later.

Poor Brendan, noob who instead of using torrents, has to sniff around joox waiting for someone to upload an out of syc file for him to defend by attacking probably the only girl who posts on rlslog with any frequency. I now dual boot in XP and Vista as a result of Miss Bell’s comments.

Brendan = a liar who attacks girls. Should be banned.

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE JUST UPLOAD A FIXED VERSION, NOT THE FIXES?

i have mac and i can’t use virtual dub and the other programs i can’t figure out. help please. thanks.

    February 10th, 2008 | 01:42

@115 carla - yes, in this case I AM being self righteous:

1.It’s irrelevant whether a poster is a boy or a girl. But Brendan attacked Miss Bell purely on being a girl, it’s unlikely he would have asked a man to “blow” him, unless he swings both ways. He wrote that because Miss Bell is a girl.

2.Brendan is not able to provide accurate information on the link he provided. Please don’t post misleading comments about files.

3.Brendan again provided misleading information on how to fix the file with Nero.

Carla, these are the reasons for my self-righteosness. Please accept my apologies if you did not like my comments. But as you can see, they are not made without basis when someone attacks women and tells blatant lies.

I find it so funny that nobody can fix a simple sync issue. LOL> GOOGLE maybe. I cant understand how somebody would even know how to download a torrent, and not fix a sync issue. You newbs. hee hee

I saw the commercial again and remembered I’ve been wanting to see this. I saw the commercial originally about a few months ago and have been wanting to see this since. Can’t wait to spoil the ending for me friends! jk, but yes, I WILL be checking this out.

I accept your apology as I did not like your comment.

Respect, Adam. Sorry ’bout that. I hope you see the specific nature of my comments towards Brendan. I always agree with the use of sex for LOVE. Unlike Brendan, I don’t agree with the use of sex for POWER to win an argument. My apologies, again, Adam. Your preferences are celebrated!

@91 Brendan “In the meantime, if I find a working link to download the files discussed in this forum, I’ll contribute them to be added with the other links here… if that’s okay with you.” NO!!! Its NOT OK. Brendan, please keep your links to damaged files along with your incorrect information, your bogus fixes and most of all your sexist comments away from Releaselog!

@118 “I cant understand how somebody would even know how to download a torrent, and not fix a sync issue. You newbs. hee hee” I tend to agree with you. Brendan is an example. He can’t download a torrent and relies on joox instead. He can’t even SEE a movie out of sync. Nevermind about fixing one.

Just want to give everyone a warning to avoid downloading this release. The audio is out of sync with the video for the first 15-20 minutes of the movie.

This should be nuked soon, so wait for a better version.

saw this movie over the summer (07) when they were pre-screening it, very good. i thought i remember it being release already (saw some posters around). very good movie, i enjoyed it a lot. as far as this torrent goes, its a little out of sync, as stated… if can can, id say go catch it when releases in theaters.

  23. MNB
    February 10th, 2008 | 05:47

its CANNOT be nuked because no scene grp rlsed it, it’s from a P2P grp….and we THANK them for doing this, without their out of sync stuff, we would have NOTHING, so be great full for having something…and for the post 116, go buy a pc, their cheaper and run all GOOD programs….i’m going to buy an airbook, and snap it with my knee on youtube…look for it..

i love this site. I always look here first , then before long the movie will be on kingdom a KVCD site, and any problems like sync problems or colour problems or subtitles are fixed. Plus they take under 10 mins to burn after you have downloaded them onto a cd which works on almost any dvd player. that my two cents worth. cheers all. keep up the great work rlslog.

  25. Pet
    February 10th, 2008 | 07:15

    @MNB

Of course it can be nuked. It has the problem of out-of-sync audio, so this is a cause for nuking.

Ignore what MNB has said and wait for a better version with in-sync audio so you can enjoy the entire movie.

    February 10th, 2008 | 09:12

@132 magicbean, thanks for the info about KVCDs@Kingdom. However, haven’t you paid attention to comment 91 Brendan!?

Joox is the answer! Quoting Brendan, “downlaoding(sic) the avi file directly from a fast site that doesn’t require membership to download”.

Joox is ALL you will ever need. Forget about Newsgroups and Torrents, or even Rapidshare. I repeat, Joox is ALL you need. Releaselog will no longer reference newtorrents.info, Releaselog will soon become a front end for Joox. We must all bow to Brendan for his great advice - hell, why don’t we all blow him?

Just got home from work and read all these comments! Could everyone commenting on Brendan and myself please stop. Hopefully, you have all made your points and we can now all move on from this. This is my favourite site, and this community is usually very supportive. Please, everyone, don’t get carried away with negativity.

Ok, cutting through all the BS and the childish schoolyard taunts (I thought we were all grown up here, seems that I was incorrect on that assumption)The main question needs to be answered.

Option 1:If we do have a working in-sync copy then fine, where are the links?

Option 2:If we do not have a working in-sync copy, then that is fine as well as this whole thread should be deleted until we finally DO get a decent copy.

    There is no option three.

    @111

Huge thanks for the tutorial, just what I was looking for! :)

How do you know to add 0.5sec of silence though, is it just trial and error (adding .2 sec, .7, etc) until you get it right? Or is there some way to find out exactly by how much the audio is oos?

  31. TJW
    February 11th, 2008 | 06:59

The 0.5 sec is a rule of thumb for me. I learned while converting Divx/Xvid with VBR audio to Mpeg2 a few years ago, for my old skool normal dvdplayer, the movies would be out of sync..
But by adding 0.5 seconds of silence to the beginning of the uncompressed audio, before I converted the movie to the mpeg 2 format, 99% of all vbr encodes became synced…
so I now as a rule of thumb, I start with the 0.5 second delay, and work from there… try it sometime. any VBR encode you have.. Open the movie in Vdub. rip the audio, convert the audio to an uncompressed wav. use goldwave to add the 0.5 second silence to the beginning. then save the wav. I can guarantee you that 99% of the time the result will be a synced audio to your video. And then you can convert the video to what ever format from there, and know it will be in sync.. I no longer convert to mpeg2, but what I learned awhile back, does come in handy from time to time. As it did on this release.. :)
