OMiCRON has released this TV special, Chain Gang Girls. I remember seeing something about the chain gangs in this prison on another TV show, a British documentary, was very interesting. This is a one and a half hour long documentary about a women’s chain gang in a prison in Estrella Jail, Phoenix, Arizona.
Show Summary
What do a car thief, a meth addict, and a prostitute have in common? Thirty feet of sturdy, steel-linked chains. They’re part of a fifteen woman chain gang, the only chain gang in America. Chained together and wearing jail-issued stripes, they paint over graffiti, bury homeless people, and clear highway brush. Some say it’s sadistic. Others say if you do the crime, you should do the time. Is it torture or tough love?
