if the source of this article is the associated press (AP) then it makes sense that they are using the term “cell phone” since the AP is an American news agency. Just because the article is about sell phone usage on Europe doesnt mean they have to use European terms. :):)

I wish people on flights would just shut up and let others sleep. Its hard enough with all the noise the turbines and ventilation make. I need to take long flights frequently because of my job and I prefer to sleep on the plane, so I hope they make this service expensive enough to stop people from using it for meaningless chatter. I don’t think I could handle sitting next to someone who is making long and pointless phone calls to his friends back home for several hours just to pass time. Some people do that on trains and it’s very irritating.

That service will be more expensive then a normal phoneline..why because they just see money.

Second its about time they researched some new ways to communicate in planes because i want to use wifi with my ds and psp.

Agree with Tommelfinger… so far I don’t think I’ve been on a flight that DIDN’T involve some kind of annoyance. Babies is the classic (1 out 2 flights, for sure), then loud-mouth conversationalists, then getting caught with a fatso in the seat next to you – jeez, that I love . Worst was a 10-hour transatlantic… had a seat with a power outlet so watched rips on my laptop all the way, BUT, there was a Hispanic-speaking couple just behind me… I swear, they did not cease babbling at high volume for the entire duration. Increasing the volume didn’t make any difference, and I was wearing intra-auriculars as well. That Spanish bla frequency just drilled through my head bone. And now cell-phones? With those bozos who don’t know how to mute their frikkin’ keypad? Please NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with 19, after a few minutes I will be hoping someone is using one as a remote detonator.

I would be ok with this as long as they didn’t allow women and teenagers.

what are they talking about? Just saw a report probably two nights ago that US carriers will start letting Cell use by July. FAA has been planning it since a while ago. I think it was southwest that has already tested some.
