Catz 6 & Dogz 6 – RELOADED
Catz and Dogz, probably the oldest pet simulation games. I believe I still have 2 and/or 3 somewhere in my old stash of retro games. Anyways, this game is basically a “The Sims” but then with pets. They’re two different games but if they did it like they did ten years ago with the older Catz and Dogz then it’s most likely that you’ll be able to import and export pets and get your cats and dogs together. If you happen to have any children or little brothers and/or sisters then this will likely glue them to the computer for a couple of months. So if you only have one computer in your home, don’t tell anyone about this game!
Catz 6:
Catz is a pet simulation game that lets owners name, train and play with adorable kittens. Players adopt a customized kitten from one of thirteen different breeds. Gamers will earn their kittens love and loyalty by remembering to feed, groom or play with it. Toys and accessories can be purchased for the kitten from the in-game store. Kittens can communicate with their owners through a variety realistic sounds effects including purring and different types of meows.
Dogz 6:
- The DS exclusive features such as touch screen and voice recognition allow the player to feel more connected with the puppy.
- Use the touch screen to praise and take care of the puppy!
- Use your own voice to train! The puppy recognizes the voice command and responds.
- The duel screen allows the player to see what the dog is doing even if she isnt in the same room. The dog will come when the player calls for it.
- Save hand written picture diary of your life with your puppy!
- Arrange and customize your room with various items!

I get sound but no picture when I try to run it – just a blank screen and then the monitor shuts off. Any help to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Make sure you downloaded the latest drivers for you video card. Also update to latest direct x!

Took me a while to figure this out but it worked a treat on my daughters PC using an Nvidia FX5200.
(ps ..same edit on the catz.imi works for Catz 6 also)
I am having a problem with mine, it will load up and everything, but the screen is way too big. Like half the screen isn’t there. I just want to know how do I get the screen to be normal size? I tried to change the resolution in the game and in my properties on the computer, but either way the screen size never changes. Can anyone help me??? Please?? I really wanna play my game.

Ok this is what I changed to make it work with the 3 Pc’s I’ve tried it on (All with Nvidia GFX cards).
Within the folder you installed game to find and edit the file “catz.ini”
EDIT the lines to match the following.
[Engine.Window]
Size=1024, 768
InternalSize=1024, 768
AND change the line from the default of “1″ to a “0″ as shown below
[Engine.Direct3D]
AllowFullScreenAntiAlias=0
SAVE the new file with the same name and the game should now run and you’ll be able to change the resolution to whatever you like within the game settings.

Hi, I followed your advice, Avenger, but I am still getting an out of frequency error, tho the numbers have changed. I have the Geforce video card. Just reinstalled the drivers for it. I really want to get this game going for my daughter and I’ve checked the Dell website. I meet all system requirements. I don’t know what to do!!

From what I caan gather, you need a program like daemon tools to act as an emulator or burn it to disk. what I did was use daemontools and then ran one of the files to start the installation

Can’t get to work. Tried everything that was mentioned above.
If you have I (and most people) have had happen and the above doesn’t work, try this (as this worked for me)
As long at you can hear the sound playing and have a blank screen, it is probably trying to play the game at a refresh rate your monitor will not support.
You can try a tool called refresh lock ( I had no luck but others did in other games) or…
Here is the Refresh Lock Fix that doesn’t use the NVfix 2.1.
Open DXDiag.exe and go to the HELP TAB
Click the override button
Open it and type in a refresh rate that you know your monitor will support.
Be warned: Running your monitor at rates that it shouldn’t be could damage your monitor or shorten the life of it.
Be absolutely sure you know what you are doing.
Try this: type this command in the “catz.ini” : MaxRefreshRate=60
so it looks like this…
[Engine.Direct3D]
MaxRefreshRate=60
AllowFullScreenAntiAlias=1
if you open catz.exe with notepad you gonna find more commands to try out.
I’ve downloaded the torrent but all i have now are a bunch of rld-dgz6 archives. how do i get to play the game? every time i unrar they have the same stuff on each and every one of them. help:(
