poll.gifThere were some minor problems which caused a little delay in this announcement but anyway, the Music competition results are finally in. I launched this contest just as a small trial without expecting a greater response, but the results were quite impressive. We received well over 100 correct posts and tens of others which were missing some of the requested parts and weren’t counted. It was nice to see that few readers offered their help even without competing for a Rapidshare premium account.

Here are the results: Out of the 32 contributors who signed up and posted at least 1 article, the user with nickname Ertunc won with a huge advance against anyone else with a total of 41 posts. The next two followers on second and third place respectively are Prezdead and Chinballs. All three users won premium account for Rapidshare which will enable them to download without limits for 1 month. Details will be mailed to your emails in next few days. The competition is now over and I consider it a big success, so we will probably repeat something similar in the future for other categories as well. I will also offer a position of regular editor to all entrants, so you will most likely see more posts from the competition guys here at Releaselog pretty soon.

Finally, I closed the last poll question and prepared a new one for all of you. We asked a simple question about your gender lately and it was quite surprising: there’s about 10 percent of girls and women among RLSLOG readers! That’s not really bad considering our niche and sort of things we write about. The new question was inspired by sunny weather and Summer getting closer every day and I guess it will be pretty interesting to see the results this time too…

Post music, win 3 Rapidshare premium accounts! http://www.rlslog.net/post-music-win-3-rapidshare-premium-accounts/ http://www.rlslog.net/post-music-win-3-rapidshare-premium-accounts/#comments Thu, 08 May 2008 20:14:34 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/post-music-win-3-rapidshare-premium-accounts/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Our Music section is not really active lately so I thought about a small competition for all our readers. The rules are really simple: make as many posts about new music scene releases as possible in next 3 days (you can pick any music genre you like) and win one of three Rapidshare premium accounts. This account will enable you to download from Rapidshare.com without any time or traffic limits for one month.

The rules about these posts are quite strict: only real scene releases are allowed and you must follow the template/pattern we use for our music posts, which means that 1st paragraph should contain your comment about the release, 2nd paragraph covers short info about the album and 3rd optional paragraph contains a summary about the band / music artist. You can easily find the text for latter two with Google or on sites like Amazon and Wikipedia. Then you have to include the tracklist and release details from the NFO. Finally a full release name and links to homepage, wikipedia and eventually a torrent or rapidshare. You should also add image of the CD and the artist (Image Search at Google is a great helper). This may look little complicated, but if you take a look at few of our music posts, it will be pretty obvious to you.

As I wrote, the competition will run for 3 days till Sunday, May 11, 24:00 GMT. We will count only proper posts. Incomplete posts or those about non scene releases will be neither published nor counted to your stats. The 3 users with most posts after 3 days will immediatelly receive their new Rapidshare account. If you want to participate in this contest, just send an email to “rlslogcontest at gmail.com” and we will mail you back with more instructions (where to send your posts). According to our experience, one post shouldn’t take you longer than 5-10 minutes. Let the best contributor win!

RLSLOG Forums: Upgrade Under Way http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-upgrade-under-way/ http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-upgrade-under-way/#comments Tue, 06 May 2008 17:32:14 +0000 ReeGed http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-upgrade-under-way/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Those of you who read my previous post will probably understand why the Forums are down right now, but since it happened a bit later than anticipated, I’ll make a small post about it again. The forums are down due to a server OS upgrade. The forums will be back just as they were before the upgrade. This will probably happen later on tonight.

RLSLOG Forums: Short Downtime http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-short-downtime/ http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-short-downtime/#comments Sat, 03 May 2008 02:46:06 +0000 ReeGed http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-short-downtime/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Just a really quick but necessary note here. The Forums will be experiencing some downtime in the coming couple of days. I’m telling you this so that I won’t have to wake up one beautiful Saturday or Sunday morning and find my Inbox monster-spammed with mails reading “Wfux is wrong with the forums??!11one”. What’s basically happening is a necessary server OS update. It will only take a few hours. If you haven’t already registered, do so now and join in on the madness :D

If you see this post, it means your DNS was already updated and you are accessing RLSLOG on a new server right now. The whole transfer is still far from complete but the basic functions and all content should be accessible now. Well, I’ve got another sleepless night full of playing with configs ahead of me so sit back and enjoy the RLSLOG served from the Netherlands!

RLSLOG back online after 3h downtime http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-back-online-after-3h-downtime/ http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-back-online-after-3h-downtime/#comments Wed, 16 Apr 2008 20:28:49 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-back-online-after-3h-downtime/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Uff. I hope you feel as relieved as me. I just spent 3 hours convincing our current ISP to put the site back online. What happened? A simple copyright infrigement email from some stupid internet investigator company (or rather a bot) caused our ISP go nuts and shut down the whole site after I refused to delete that particular thread. The email says we are illegaly offering copies of certain game, which is of course not true. The another paradox: it was Unreal Tournament 3, half a year old game noone really cares about now.

One would think that writing few paragraphs and posting a few links to third party sites can’t cause you much trouble in country where’s the freedom of speech. Well, it can. I can be lucky the site is running at least, the post was removed and we will have to find a new home for our project pretty fast as our ISP doesn’t like to host it anymore. I’m just so disgusted right now by attitude of these people with whom I closely cooperated (and paid) for more than two years. Anyway, the site is back for you and I can finaly take some sleep…

Best of Week 14:

Best of Forums:

Poll results:

DiAMOND confirmed their great reputation and ranked as #1 movie scene group with a huge advantage against second PUKKA and third mVs. It’s interesting to see that even a group as VoMiT has its fans, although they release mostly low-budget movies. Enjoy the new poll question.

It’s been quite some time since our last Best Of recap so I thought I will revive this old habit and collect the best posts published here at Releaselog in recent 7 days. This is also a great chance to point out few interesting threads at our official RLSLOG Forums. I’m happy this project launched well and is pretty much stable and fast at our new host. Finally, I prepared a new poll question for all of you.

RLSLOG Forums picks #2 http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-picks-2/ http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-picks-2/#comments Thu, 20 Mar 2008 21:05:29 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/rlslog-forums-picks-2/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Our official RLSLOG Forums were relaunched few days ago and we added a new light skin yesterday (can be switched at the end of the page). It’s good to see noone complains about the speed now - it’s on a super fast server and loading very smoothly. I plan to post a short article with links to interesting posts, we could connect it with our Best Of weekly posts. If you aren’t registered yet, don’t wait for anything. :-)

New and Improved Forums! http://www.rlslog.net/new-and-improved-forums/ http://www.rlslog.net/new-and-improved-forums/#comments Tue, 18 Mar 2008 21:31:58 +0000 ReeGed http://www.rlslog.net/new-and-improved-forums/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Well it took a little longer than we had expected due to some problems, however the Forums are finally back up again. We are now using vBulletin instead of IPB, and we have a different host which is located in the Netherlands. We are confident that forum speeds increased as of now. Martin has worked hard on moving the entire forums over to the new vBulletin board so we still have all the previous threads.

There are some things which you MIGHT have to do on your own however. If logging in dosen’t work like usual, try resetting the password and then logging in again. It is possible your avatar and signature are gone or different, but it shouldn’t be hard to fix for you. It takes a bit of time to get used to vBulletin if you haven’t previously used it, but I suspect most of you have.

Big Thanks to Las3r from the Frienz Network who has been a huge help in the process of moving the forum, as well as providing the excellent new hosting!

Happy St. Patricks Day! http://www.rlslog.net/happy-st-patricks-day/ http://www.rlslog.net/happy-st-patricks-day/#comments Mon, 17 Mar 2008 19:13:48 +0000 ReeGed http://www.rlslog.net/happy-st-patricks-day/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Its a bit late if you live in Europe, but Happy St. Pattys day! Today is the “real” national day of Ireland (although I realise it was celebrated on the 15th in Ireland this year), also known as St.Patricks day. Even though nobody from the rlslog staff is Irish, I decided to make a St. Patricks day theme for all of you who are. Hope you enjoy the day and that your hangover is mild tomorrow morning! Raise your Guinness up high! Cheers!

Notice: try pressing CTRL+F5 if you don’t see these crazy green colours. :)

Forums Temporarily Down http://www.rlslog.net/forums-temporarily-down/ http://www.rlslog.net/forums-temporarily-down/#comments Sun, 16 Mar 2008 07:38:59 +0000 ReeGed http://www.rlslog.net/forums-temporarily-down/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Well as many of you have mentioned in the comments and on IRC, the RLSLOG Forums are currently down. This is due to the current host and unfortunately Martin has been the only one in contact with them so far and he is gone for the weekend. Its unfortunate that we should experience problems today because we have already made plans to change to a host in the Netherlands tomorrow. If we’re lucky the forum problems are resolved, but the worst case scenario is that you’ll have to wait until night time on monday when we will have brand new hosting. ReeGed over and out.
