TRADINGSTANDARDS: Epic Fail

First of all, let me establish one thing. I appreciate the work that all scene groups do. Even the groups that are less experienced than others; even those that get every second release nuked. If a group does their best to adhere to scene rules and keeps putting out releases, then to me they deserve respect, whether they get nuked or not. Its when a group knowingly breaks a major scene rule and still puts out the release that a line has to be drawn. Of course many groups these days are suspected of doing this, but some just don’t cover their tracks too well.

Its the case of TRADINGSTANDARDS vs. PLUBE. Plube? Is that a scene group? No. Its a one time p2p release “group” made up of one person. This person also happens to be the Admin of Plube.com and one of my moderators on the RLSLOG Forums. About two days ago, he made a DVDRip of a film called Mutant Chronicles, which had been anticipated by some people on our forums. Proof to this can be found HERE. The source was a DVDR from a torrent tracker (Mutant Chronicles 2008 Pal DVDRo-BcF). Then today, TRADINGSTANDARD happened.

They pred “their” release of the exact same film earlier this morning (Central European Time). First reaction was naturally some suspicion, but nothing more. Then their rls got nuked for DUPE of plubes release, which was pretty funny. But then a closer look at the TRADINGSTANDARDS rls gave the greatest laugh of all:

Obviously, TRADINGSTANDARDS didn’t even bother to cover the most simple of tracks.

I’m sure a lot of you will say, “who cares, we’re all stealing anyways”, but those who say that don’t truly have an idea of the effort and risk many scene groups go through to put out releases (even though they’re not meant for you). Groups like TRADINGSTANDARDS make a mockery of that effort.

The Dark Knight: First Six Minutes [Spoiler]

First of all, if you’re looking forward to this film and you’re spoiler sensitive, just look away right now, even though there are no major spoilers below.

Yesterday the BluRay of Batman Begins was released. On it, the first six minutes of the upcoming sequel The Dark Knight was released. This film comes out in cinemas on July 18th in the USA, so this is pretty much completely exclusive material. Ripped by Waldo, who is one of my moderators on the RLSLOG Forums, but also the ex-owner (but still completely runs) plube.com . Download link is below some additional snaps. The stream could get removed any time, so don’t rely on that.

Wacken 2008 Pre Report-RLSMETAL

What can be said about Wacken that hasn’t already been said? Wacken is not only a festival, it is a phenomenon. It is the place all self respecting metalheads wish to visit at least once in their lives. It is the Metal Mecca. This being said, certain people simply have no idea of its existence. This is part of what makes Wacken special, but also what makes Metal culture in general feel special.

Wacken 2007 Report-RLSMETAL

We are entering a new era of RLSLOG. An era where we cease to be merely people who run a scene release blog. RLSLOG is becoming more than that, and this is our first project: Project Wacken 2008. We are taking the music section of RLSLOG to a whole new level. Wacken Open Air is THE biggest Metal festival in the world.

This year Over and myself will be present as press representatives for RLSLOG. Below is a little summary of last years festival and in a couple of minutes we’ll post the pre-report for this year’s W:O:A. The festival takes place between July 31st and August 2nd, so look forward to a detailed report of the biggest metal party in the world in early August.

Don’t worry though, your usual scene releases will be as accessible as ever. Nothing is going to change on that front.

Dugg: you know when you do it right

I don’t really use Digg that often, but it’s a well respected site without any doubts. I guess we could easily get many of our posts on the frontpage with our 200 000 daily visitors and little bit of motivation for digging our content, but I don’t have a reason to do so: Digg’s average reader is a computer-savvy geek which would probably spend 3 to 4 seconds at our site trying to understand what’s going on here and then quickly leaving back to his funny images and dorky videos listed in Top 10. It’s a well known fact that the value of Digg traffic isn’t really high, although it can quickly bring many server to their knees.

However, I was browsing the referer stats today and noticed quite a few people coming from digg.com. That was weird - we weren’t on the frontpage and there weren’t even any articles submitted in last few weeks, neither by me nor by any of our readers. But then I saw it: Digg was offline for more than hour today and it displayed only a simple page with links to various sites, recommended by Digg employees. And here it was: link to Releaselog recommended by someone called Mark L, right next to internet giants as BBC News, Yahoo or Techcrunch. It’s moments like this when you realize you do your job right. Thanks.

ReviewMe: Pic Vi

Here’s one more web tip from ReviewMe, which will surely entertain you for quite a long. Pic Vi is a super simple but quite an enjoyable website featuring cool images and video clips. The site looks like a classic blog with few new articles posted every single day. The design is super simple but very effective and ad-free.

All posts are sorted in various categories - most popular ones are of course Babes (some of them NSFW), Humour, Ads, Animals and so on. Everyone will find a great content there, it just depends on your taste. The site loads fairly fast, and as it’s a classic blog, you can also add comments and rate the posts.

Among the Top rated articles are pictures of Mila Jovovich or Rihanna as well as great Social Ads and few videos including famous Durex Ads. The another nice thing is that every visitor can submit his interesting photos, links or videos - there’s a simple upload form which can get your pictures to the masses, if they pass the validation process. Give it a try, I’m sure you will spend quite some time at Pic Vi and it may end in your bookmarks as well.
