This is a guest post written by reader Plgnomey.

FTN has come along with this fine release which is sure to please all fans of indie music with The Myriads soft-more release and major label debut release i think they have created an exciting album where there isn’t a week link like we are used to with most album these days . Seattle-based rockers The Myriad had prime TV show placement to help get the proverbial ball rolling. In addition to placement on “The Real World: Denver,” the band sealed its “Emerging Artists” status by getting handpicked by MTV for the “Dew Circuit Breakout” challenge, which The Myriad ended up winning, thanks to several million voters.

So to say that expectations are high for the band’s Koch Records’ debut, With Arrows, With Poise, is a serious understatement. But thanks to a pitch-perfect set list packed with one clever song after the next, rock & roll fans won’t leave the listening experience disappointed. In fact, there’s not a dud in the 12-track bunch, a rarity in our singles-driven, iPod age.

What makes these songs really pop is an intuitive knack for melody (see “Forget What You Came For” for the band’s best work) and the polished yet decidedly artsy production from Michael Ilbert (The Cardigans, Kent, The Hives). Just when the listener is expecting the song to head in a certain direction, there’s one surprising turn after the next, which leads to a rewarding listening experience that should easily cement the band’s status as “one to watch.”

The digital-only soundtrack to this urban drama of the same name is only available on iTunes. It’s an interesting mix of different musical styles from hip-hop to pop ballads featuring Lil’Mama, Montell Jordan, Smugglaz, Fenom, Carl Henry, and Kadar, and more.

Despite some big-name artists and several booty-shakin’ beats, this soundtracks lacks cohesiveness and doesn’t tell you anything at all about the movie. A good soundtrack should at least make you curious about a film, but you’d probably only pick up this album if you loved the movie (which could be the case) — or if the songs had some actual meaning for you (which probably isn’t the case since they don’t really talk about anything). The songs are repetitive and unoriginal and definitely fall flat without the accompanying cool dance moves from the silver screen. At least there’s no doubt that they’ll make you want to dance.

Better music to get you moving includes Janet Jackson, Rihanna, and Shakira.

This is on of the last Music competition posts which will be published before the deadline of this contest, so it’s your last chance to work your way up and win on of the three Rapidshare premium accounts. Written by Ertunc.

Hailing from Jersey City, Ransom was an integral member of the A-Team crew that also included Joe Budden and recently slain member Stack Bundles. Recently, Ransom has experienced heightened attention owing to his highly publicized falling out with Budden. Having recorded and/or collaborated with such A-list acts as Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, Juelz Santana, Styles P., Sheek Louch, Fabolous, Flo-Rida and more, Ransom’s street and blog-based buzz has reached a fevered pitch.

Citing influences from such icons as Nas, Kool G. Rap, Big Punisher, Big Daddy Kane, The Lox & more, Ransom can confidently assert himself as the voice of the streets. As he states : ’I vow by the time it’s all said and done that I will be looked at as one of the most influential artists of all time.’

The follow-up to 2007’s street mixtape smash ’Pain & Glory’ ’Street Cinema’ is the widely anticipated precursor to Ransom’s forthcoming major label debut.

Amy Winehouse - Frank (Deluxe Edition) [2008] http://www.rlslog.net/amy-winehouse-frank-deluxe-edition-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/amy-winehouse-frank-deluxe-edition-2008/#comments Sun, 11 May 2008 10:43:31 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/amy-winehouse-frank-deluxe-edition-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

This is one of the best releases of last few days without any doubts. Written by Prezdead.

Curtosy of release group MTD, we have our hands on an early CD-Rip release of Amy Winehouse’s Deluxe Edition of Frank, due out early June*. This is a great release, with an additional 17 demo, mix and live tracks not originally found on Frank (2003).

Frank is the first studio album released by Amy Winehouse, done under the Island label. This deluxe edition re-release, due out in the UK, will boost sales of the original album which sold approximately 22,000 copies in its first week of release there, coming in at #61. It has since been certified double platinum for shipment of more than 600,000 copies.

Amy Jade Winehouse is an English singer-songwriter, known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including soul, jazz and R&B. Winehouse has created media buzz apart from her singing. Her distinctive style, most notably her former signature beehive hairstyle, has spawned imitators and been the muse for fashion designers, most notably Karl Lagerfeld. The singer’s struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as self-destructive behaviour, have become regular tabloid news since 2007.

Tired of all the modern music genres? Try this classic, Frank Sinatra! Post written by user Livemp3s.

Frank Sinatra - Nothing But The BestRelease group VAG has pre-released this umpteenth Frank Sinatra Greatest Hits Collection.

Released to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s passing (May 14, 1998), Nothing But The Best salutes “The Voice” with an essential single-disc compilation of hits. It features 21 legendary songs from “The Chairman Of The Board,” plus a previously unissued version of “Body And Soul.” The collection is part of an international initiative between the newly created Frank Sinatra Enterprises (FSE), Warner Home Video, MGM Home Entertainment, Turner Classic Movies, and the United States Postal Service to honor Frank Sinatra, whose music and movies had an everlasting impact on popular culture. For a limited time, Nothing But The Best will contain a collectible, commemorative Sinatra stamp with official USPS first-day issue cancellation.

Francis Albert Sinatra (December 12, 1915 – May 14, 1998) was an American jazz-oriented popular singer and Academy Award-winning actor. Beginning his musical career in the swing era with Harry James and Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra became a solo artist with great success in the early to mid-1940s, being the idol of the “bobby soxers”. His professional career had stalled by the 1950s, but it was reborn in 1954 after he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

My Dying Bride - An Ode to Woe (2008) http://www.rlslog.net/my-dying-bride-an-ode-to-woe-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/my-dying-bride-an-ode-to-woe-2008/#comments Sat, 10 May 2008 22:30:09 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/my-dying-bride-an-ode-to-woe-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

This is a Music competition post from user Plgnomey.

BERC bring us UK Death Metal band “My Dying Bride” and thier latest album “An Ode to Woe” a live album recorded at Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland, in April 2007.A Live Compilation of many tracks from thier past albums and The entire show sounds excellent on CD and DVD, both of which capture the atmosphere and sense of occasion inherent in watching such a theatrically inclined band. Naturally the DVD benefits from a lot of dry ice, black clothes and cold blue light (and not much else), but CDs get more use and it is a nice touch to include both editions in one package.

The European goth-metal band My Dying Bride formed in June 1990. The four-piece first recorded the demo tape Towards the Sinister, and after the release of a seven-inch single for the French Listenable label, the group sigend to Peaceville Records in 1991. My Dying Bride’s first release was a 1991 EP, Symphonaire Infernus Et Spera Empyrium. Debut album As the Flower Withers appeared the following year, and after touring Great Britain and Europe, the band released another EP, The Thrash of Naked Limbs. Third album Turn Loose the Swans coincided with another European tour, after which the band disappeared for a year.

I don’t remember a punk release here at Releaselog for a while so this new post may be a nice change after all the mainstream music genres. Written by j0hnson.

I like split albums, to me it feels that you’re getting two experiences instead of one. True to the hardcore/punk style this album packs in 7 intense tracks in under 14 minutes, so there are no slow songs on this. Personally I prefer Hour Of The Wolf to Lewd acts as I find Lewd acts a bit unploished and slightly to metal for my taste. Anyway enjoy this one.

Hour Of The Wolf team up with Lewd Acts for a split release that knows no boundaries. Between the seven tracks, you’re walking the fence of hardcore punk, and metal. The only thing that’s certain is that they’re raw, honest and dark.

Tracklist:

01. Hour Of The Wolf - Overload (2:16)
02. Hour Of The Wolf - War Machine (1:43)
03. Hour Of The Wolf - Nothing Hits As Hard As The Abyss (3:17)
04. Lewd Acts - Broken Kids (2:02)
05. Lewd Acts - Jealous Sea (1:13)
06. Lewd Acts - Shark Bait (0:45)
07. Lewd Acts - Glass Act (2:01)

In Extremo - Sängerkrieg [2008] http://www.rlslog.net/in-extremo-sangerkrieg-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/in-extremo-sangerkrieg-2008/#comments Sat, 10 May 2008 12:02:05 +0000 Over http://www.rlslog.net/in-extremo-sangerkrieg-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Hi Guys! I’ve got a pretty neat release for all you Folk Metal fans out there :) It’s a very well known band in Germany and afaik they are also quite successful in other countries. Personally there was a period in which I really loved In Extremo, but I overdid it by listening too much to their albums, so I had enough of them.. ;D anyways I listened to this release and it’s definitely In Extremo style, not the old one (like on the “Verehrt und Angespien”) but pretty much In Extremo’ish :P I recommend you to get the old stuff. Enjoy and don’t forget to buy this if you like it. (Track 2, Sängerkrieg is my fav. song from this album btw.)

In Extremo” (Latin: “at the edge” or “in the extreme”) is a German folk metal band originating from Berlin. The band’s musical style combines metal with medieval traditional songs, blending the sound of the standard rock/metal instruments with historical instruments (such as the bagpipes, harp, hurdy-gurdy and shawm). Versions of well-known traditional/medieval ballads make up the main part of their repertoire, but the band has written an increasing share of original material in recent years. Their own material is written in German, whilst the traditional songs are in a variety of languages, including (but not limited to) Spanish, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, French, Hebrew, Gothic, Latin, Old High German, and Middle German.

Enjoy one more music post from our Music competition, written by Mueller56.

This release is almost 2 days old now but it’s a much anticipated album in the whole rap genre so I just thought I’d post it anyway. C4 is again able to win the race for this release which is not surprising at the moment. Almost every major album is released by C4; don’t know how they do it but keep doing what you do :PAfter a first listen, I can definitely recommend this new CD.
Lil’ Scrappy’s third solo album is released in 2008 and it is a considered to be another classic. One of the many highlights of Prince Of The South is ’The A’. It’s a tribute to Lil’ Scrappy’s hometown of Atlanta. Lil’Scrappy released his debut CD entitled The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Lil’ Scrappy in 2004. The album featured production by Lil’ Jon. The release was an instant classic; it sold over one million copies.

Crunk practitioner Lil Scrappy was born Darryl Richards in the ATL. Discovered by BME Recordings and Lil Jon, Scrap built his rep throughout the Southeast before breaking nationally in 2003 with the hit “Head Bussa.” A split EP with fellow BME artists Trillville followed in February 2004, spinning off the single “No Problem.” Crunk was never the same again. In 2006 the full-length Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live landed featuring the hit single “Money in the Back” with special guest Young Buck.

Peace Division - The Lab (2008) http://www.rlslog.net/peace-division-the-lab-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/peace-division-the-lab-2008/#comments Sat, 10 May 2008 00:00:35 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/peace-division-the-lab-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

I guess there’s been enough hip hop lately so why not change the rhyme a bit with this new Electronic release. Written by user Ilkore.

I’ve never heard of these guys before, but as I learn more and more about them; the more I like ‘em. The album has some nice chill grooves, with some deep earthy bass lines. Definitely grab this one, if you are looking for some music to accentuate your laid-back lifestyle.

2008 sees them kick off a brand new project for Tsuba: Peace Division Presents The Lab. As you’d expect, the undeniable Peace Division groove is in full force throughout this EP. The beat-perfect arrangements that Drake and Henry are known for are here too but there’s an increased warmth throughout with the use of sparse chords, subtly used samples and gentle layering of sounds. From the heavy John Ciafone-esque vibes of “Theory” and “We Want You” to the smooth liquidity of “Get Over it” via the futurist updates of the traditional house template of “Basik” of “In My Mind” this EP is Peace Division at their very best.

Peace Division is the production name for the tribal house duo Clive Henry and Justin Drake. Together, they have proven to be one of the most prolific UK tribal house producers starting with their first record in 1994.

The duo have released EPs, remixes and singles on Kickin Records, Eukahouse, Hooj Choons, Prolekult, Low Pressings, Junior and NRK Sound Division among others. Peace Division have also produced remixes for a wide variety of music artists including Moby, Superchumbo and Yothu Yindi, among many others. Peace Division got its name from a UN peace keeping force.

Blueprint - Blueprint vs. Funkadelic (2008) http://www.rlslog.net/blueprint-blueprint-vs-funkadelic-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/blueprint-blueprint-vs-funkadelic-2008/#comments Fri, 09 May 2008 18:45:37 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/blueprint-blueprint-vs-funkadelic-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

Here’s one more music post from entrants in our competition. Since this album has been posted by two people already, I guess it will be pretty popular. Written by Ertunc.

It’s been too damn long since I’ve heard some Blueprint. His release three years ago, 1988, was dope! He recently hit us up at DX to release his new EP for free online (CD version available online which includes instrumentals). Print puts his vocals over beats he made using the Funkadelic’s discography. Word!

I started making beats out of as much of their music as I could and putting lyrics to them; some stuff i wrote on the spot, other stuff was ideas that I had played with before but never finished. I had the record pretty much done for a couple of years but I felt like I didn’t have any audio of them speaking that really explained what they were about, so I put it on hold until I could find some interviews. Once i found them i finished it up, and here it is.” - Blueprint

Blueprint is a rapper and producer from Columbus, Ohio. He is the owner of Weightless Recordings and also signed to Rhymesayers Entertainment. He is also one half of the group Soul Position with producer RJD2. Over the span of several years, Blueprint has risen greatly in popularity. Al Green - Lay It Down (2008) http://www.rlslog.net/al-green-lay-it-down-2008/ http://www.rlslog.net/al-green-lay-it-down-2008/#comments Fri, 09 May 2008 15:51:34 +0000 Martin http://www.rlslog.net/al-green-lay-it-down-2008/ This article has been published at RLSLOG.net - visit our site for full content.

This Friday is an another boring day in the scene with no great releases so I’ll just publish next article submitted for our Music competition. We’ve received over 40 posts by now which means there’s enough music articles for the whole next week. Don’t worry if your posts aren’t published until Sunday when the competition ends, it will be still counted, only published little later. We won’t reveal any stats till Sunday so if you want to win, you need to be really active. :) This post was made by user Chinballs.

One of my favorite kinds of music, bar none, is old fashioned soul. And Al Green is right up there with Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Teddy Pendergrass as my favorite singers. So I found it really awesome that there was a new Al Green Album, and thanks to (assuming) one-time group LAYITDOWN, we get it 3 weeks before it hits store shelves!

Al Green’s long-in-the-works album co-produced by the Roots’ Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson and keyboardist James Poyser finally has a release date. “Lay It Down” is due May 27 via Blue Note and features guest vocals from John Legend, Corinne Bailey Rae and Anthony Hamilton, plus contributions from the Dap-King Horns, guitarist Chalmers “Spanky” Alford and bassist Adam Blackstone.

Reverend Al Green (b. 13 April 1946) is an American gospel and soul singer who enjoyed great popularity in the early- and mid-1970’s. “Let’s Stay Together” and “Tired of Being Alone” were two of his biggest hits.

Tracklist:

1. Lay It Down (feat. Anthony Hamilton)
2. Just For Me
3. You’ve Got the Love I Need (feat. Anthony Hamilton)

5. What More Do You Want From Me
6. Take Your Time (feat. Corinne Bailey Rae)
7. Too Much
8. Stay With Me (By the Sea) (feat. John Legend)
9. All I Need
10. I’m Wild About You
