Crowded House - Platinum (2008)

This is a guest post written by Prezdead.

Album CoverRelease group ‘EON’ brings us a neat little surprise from New Zealand, now re-united, band Crowded House. After a long breakup and a sketchy existence, these guys are back after an 11 year ‘break’ with a greatest hits package. Good tunes and rockin’ riffs. Enjoy!

Platinum is a greatest hits package thrown together by Platinum Records. Can’t find a set release date … but we have something to go on after their last album, Time on Earth, released in June of 2007 & reaching #1 in Australia and #3 in the UK.

Crowded House is a rock group formed in Melbourne and led by New Zealand musician and singer-songwriter Neil Finn. Finn is widely recognised as the primary songwriter and creative direction of the band, having led it through several incarnations, drawing members from New Zealand (himself, Tim Finn and Eddie Rayner), Australia (Paul Hester, Nick Seymour, Peter Jones and Craig Hooper) and the United States (Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod).

Neil Diamond - Home Before Dark (2008)

This is a guest post written by Chinballs.

Neil Diamond’s latest? I know you must think I’m kidding, but I think I’m going to give this a shot. It’s produced by Rick Rubin, who very simply might be the greatest record producer that wasn’t recently involved in a murder trial. When you combine that with the fact that everyone knows at least some Neil songs, he’s had a movie declare him “America’s greatest singer-songwriter”(Saving Silverman, definitely a funny flick), who knows, it just might end up being a really good album.

Home Before Dark is the long awaited new album from legendary artist Neil Diamond. Home Before Dark was produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin who also produced Neil’s critically acclaimed 12 Songs.

Neil Diamond is one of pop music’s most enduring and successful singer-songwriters. As a successful pop music performer, Diamond scored a number of hits worldwide in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Critic William Ruhlmann wrote of Diamond, “As of 2001, he claimed worldwide record sales of 115 million copies, and as of 2002 he was ranked third, behind only Elton John and Barbra Streisand, on the list of the most successful adult contemporary artists in the history of the Billboard chart.” As of May 2005 Diamond had sold 120 million records worldwide, including 48 million records in the U.S.

Clay Aiken - On My Way Here (2008)

Kind of slipping through the cracks is the new album from American Idol Season 2 Runner Up Clay Aiken. Say what you will about his personal life or the style of the music, there is no doubt that he has vocal talent. He’s a little corny, a little goofy, but this might be the kind of album you get for your girlfriend, wife, or mother.

On My Way Here is the fourth full length studio album planned to be released by American Idol Season 2 alumnus, Clay Aiken on May 6, 2008. Marc “Kipper” Eldridge is the producer and Jaymes Foster the executive producer. Enjoy.

Clay Aiken (born Clayton Holmes Grissom on November 30, 1978) is an American pop singer who began his rise to fame on the second season of the television program American Idol in 2003. Jesse McCartney - Departure (2008)

Here’s a new mainstream release which falls into pop music genre. Written by Prezdead.

Unknown to me, group BiGJESSE (maybe a big fan?) have provided us with some new J.Mc material. I think we all know what to expect from this one, coming from Dream Street. Either way, enjoy!
Departure is the forthcoming third studio album from American pop singer Jesse McCartney. The album is now complete. It is expected to release May 20, 2008. It has been described by McCartney as a complete change in musical style, compared to his previous releases. He was quoted saying about the new album, “I’m going for Prince chord changes, Michael (Jackson) melodies, and the bigness of Madonna - fun ’80s stuff. That’s the best that I can put it”. Producers on the album include Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, Sean Garrett and J.R. Rotem.

Jesse McCartney is an American pop/R&B singer songwriter and Daytime Emmy-nominated actor. McCartney initially came to fame in the early 2000s as the youngest member of the boy band Dream Street. He subsequently branched out into a solo career, having appeared on the television series Summerland.

The Myriad - With Arrows, With Poise (2008)

This is a guest post written by reader Plgnomey.

FTN has come along with this fine release which is sure to please all fans of indie music with The Myriads soft-more release and major label debut release i think they have created an exciting album where there isn’t a week link like we are used to with most album these days . Seattle-based rockers The Myriad had prime TV show placement to help get the proverbial ball rolling. In addition to placement on “The Real World: Denver,” the band sealed its “Emerging Artists” status by getting handpicked by MTV for the “Dew Circuit Breakout” challenge, which The Myriad ended up winning, thanks to several million voters.

So to say that expectations are high for the band’s Koch Records’ debut, With Arrows, With Poise, is a serious understatement. But thanks to a pitch-perfect set list packed with one clever song after the next, rock & roll fans won’t leave the listening experience disappointed. In fact, there’s not a dud in the 12-track bunch, a rarity in our singles-driven, iPod age.

What makes these songs really pop is an intuitive knack for melody (see “Forget What You Came For” for the band’s best work) and the polished yet decidedly artsy production from Michael Ilbert (The Cardigans, Kent, The Hives). Just when the listener is expecting the song to head in a certain direction, there’s one surprising turn after the next, which leads to a rewarding listening experience that should easily cement the band’s status as “one to watch.”

Tracklist

01. You Waste Time Like A Grandfather Clock ( 4:07)
02. “Get On The Plane.” ( 4:19)
03. Forget What You Came For ( 4:11)
04. A Clean Shot ( 3:50)
05. The Accident ( 4:23)
06. Holiest Of Thieves ( 5:00)
07. A Thousand Winters Melting ( 3:57)
08. Polar Bears And Shark Fins ( 4:01)
09. Throwing Punches ( 4:39)
10. “Don’t Let Them See You!” ( 4:59)
11. Braver Than The Rest ( 4:53)

VA-How She Move-OST-2008

The digital-only soundtrack to this urban drama of the same name is only available on iTunes. It’s an interesting mix of different musical styles from hip-hop to pop ballads featuring Lil’Mama, Montell Jordan, Smugglaz, Fenom, Carl Henry, and Kadar, and more.

Despite some big-name artists and several booty-shakin’ beats, this soundtracks lacks cohesiveness and doesn’t tell you anything at all about the movie. A good soundtrack should at least make you curious about a film, but you’d probably only pick up this album if you loved the movie (which could be the case) — or if the songs had some actual meaning for you (which probably isn’t the case since they don’t really talk about anything). The songs are repetitive and unoriginal and definitely fall flat without the accompanying cool dance moves from the silver screen. At least there’s no doubt that they’ll make you want to dance.

Better music to get you moving includes Janet Jackson, Rihanna, and Shakira.

Tracklist:

01. Lil Mama - G Slide (Tour Bus) (Feat. Kadar) 03:32
02. Mayhem Morearthy - Out Here 04:12

This is on of the last Music competition posts which will be published before the deadline of this contest, so it’s your last chance to work your way up and win on of the three Rapidshare premium accounts. Written by Ertunc.

Hailing from Jersey City, Ransom was an integral member of the A-Team crew that also included Joe Budden and recently slain member Stack Bundles. Recently, Ransom has experienced heightened attention owing to his highly publicized falling out with Budden. Having recorded and/or collaborated with such A-list acts as Lil’ Wayne, Rick Ross, Juelz Santana, Styles P., Sheek Louch, Fabolous, Flo-Rida and more, Ransom’s street and blog-based buzz has reached a fevered pitch.

Citing influences from such icons as Nas, Kool G. Rap, Big Punisher, Big Daddy Kane, The Lox & more, Ransom can confidently assert himself as the voice of the streets. As he states : ’I vow by the time it’s all said and done that I will be looked at as one of the most influential artists of all time.’

The follow-up to 2007’s street mixtape smash ’Pain & Glory’ ’Street Cinema’ is the widely anticipated precursor to Ransom’s forthcoming major label debut.
