Blast from the past! Capn Crunch and Friends is an animated TV show (or rather a set of commercials) which were quite popular back in 1980s and it returns now thanks to the EPiSODE’s dvdrip. This is just a short one-hour rip (350 MB), which will be probably picked up mostly by elder readers who remember it from their childhood. The image quality is quite poor, but that’s because the source DVD wasn’t too good either.
Veteran animator Jay Ward, creator of Rocky & Bullwinkle, produced dozens of popular animated commercials for The Quaker Oats Company during the 1960’s and 70’s but really struck gold creating Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch. The famous seafaring sailor, joined by Carlyle, Brunhilde, Seadog and others are back in this retrospective collection of classic funny commercials. Watch their first encounters with the Crunchberry Beast and the dastardly pirate Jean LaFoot along with rare commercials of the extraterrestrial Quisp and muscle-bound superhero Quake.

If I remember correctly, Cap’n Crunch cereal once came with a free whistle. Nothing strange about that, but this particular whistle blew at 2600hz, which when blown down old analogue pay phones gave you free calls. In the film Sneakers, when they are going through the trash to find passwords and stuff, Dan Ackyroyd’s character holds up a box of Cap’n Crunch that has the free whistle stuck to it.
