Interesting new BBC Documentary  has been released by W4F. Documentary in which George Lamb dives into the world of legal party pills and herbal highs. Legal highs are sold openly and legally in shops across the UK and on the internet. Enjoy!

There are thousands of different pills, powders and herbs that promise the same effects as illegal drugs, but for much less hassle – no arrests for possession and no backstreet dealers to visit. Lamb sets out to discover why they are legal and whether this means they can also be called safe. He meets people who take them, a man who sells them and a doctor who says they are potentially more dangerous than class A drugs. He travels to Guernsey, where most of the young people he meets have tried them, and finally decides to try one for himself. They might be legal and easily accessible, but should they be used? This film presents all the information needed to make a decision.

    @7, drug-tourist should stay away from holland. They allready closed some coffeeshops because of the drug-tourists! they come here and think they have to smoke as much as they can, the problem is when you smoke a joint you have to enjoy it and not smoke as much as you can and cause for nuisance to the population! So stay away or act normal when you go to holland to smoke weed!

    Khat, it's legal, it's like cocaine, it's about 5 GBP for a bunch and you chew it and suck the juices out, you start buzzing after about 30 mins, that continues until you run out. It's not as good as cocaine because that is concentrated, but you will know what cocaine is like after having khat.

    nature gives us everything we need, and the hemp plant is one of the best plants ever, the list of things you can do with hemp is endless. hemp is probably one of our most valuble plants, and thats not even touching on the cannabis aspect of it.

    The problem in Holland is that the dumb ass drugs tourists dont know how to handle their dope and take for instance too much mushrooms and try to "fly" out of their hotel window (a few killed themselves that way).
    This kind of moronic behaviour gave some fascist rightwing dutch politicians the power to put "closing the coffeeshops and smartdrugs-shops" on the agenda.

    In short: drug tourists will destroy dutch stoner heaven.

    I don't think drugs make you dumb. The whole key to enjoying most things is moderation and whether it's with illicit drugs alcohol or other forms of entertainment it's better in smaller doses over time. People that smoke a joint everyday just about were already a little ignorant to begin with so it's hard to say it makes them dumb. I have run into quite a few people that are just plain prone to addictions or habits which causes abuse.

    I buy a six or twelve pack of beer once in awhile (Newcastle Yuengling Sierra Nevada or another decent beer) and enjoy the taste and fullness of it. This happens maybe once a month as I get it when it's on sale. Pot is another story since with the children being around I have other things to spend 20+ bucks on so it's basically stopped. Anyways I have messed around with cocaine, acid, x, and the various painkillers but never made it into an addiction or did them on a daily or even a weekly basis. They were all kind of fun in their own way with your friends and it was enjoyable when used "in moderation".

    @29 i fully agree. most good things in life should be enjoyed in moderation as excess may do you harm.

    in that regard, i don't think that pot should be legalized as there are just too many fools out there who can't set their own limits and too little "responsible" potheads.

    Cannabis doesn't make you dumb over time -_-. That's a false stereotype that is portrayed due to the way many people act when they are actually on the drug. But it doesn't make you permanently stupid while off it. On the contrary, it's actually been shown to help brains cell growth, prevent cancer from developing (at least in the lungs/throat/brain so far) and help deal with quite a few sickness's.

    Cannabis is a wonderful drug, that's good for us, and can add some more spice into your life. It's not about doing drugs to be happy, it's about doing drugs to be happier.

    Why is alcohol legal and weed isnt?

    Wont say quiet as much as I could to the topic (I am well educated in the "legal highs" as of late, tried my first "tinkered with" legal mdma just 2 weeks ago)

    As said, moderation is key to everything. Education is important too (research for 3 month before touching the chemical)

    And to the weed enthusiasts:
    Yes, it has alot of benefits. But way more as a medical and industrial substance, than as a recreational drug.
    ESPECIALY WHEN SMOKED!!
    It IS bad for you, just as any plant that is inhaled after BURNING IT!
    Bake some cookys, set up a cattle of tee… THAN you can talk about health benefits. If you light up, its just as bad(or some studies say even worse) than ciggarettes etc.

    Thers a study that calims that cannabis smoke combined with tabacco smoke (aka joint smoke) is VERRY cancerous, because the combination somehow becomes alot more toxic or w\e.
    Dont know the details, but pls… educate yourself and dont just defend something because you WANT it to be harmless.

    Synthetic cannabinoids are "the thing" right now. Stuff like JWH-018 for example is dirt cheap, legal in most countries and relatively harmless but still 100's of times more powerful than natural THC.

    @44 On the contrary, medical science has proven that a low weekly alcohol intake does prevent cancer and other things like heart attack…

    infact there are many modern chinese herbal medicine that have a 20%++ alcohol percentage so alcohol isn't all that bad

    as for drugs, most drugs have medical purposes… morphine is used as a pain killer… so they arn't all bad either, just how much you use
