California Dreamin 2007 DVDRip XviD-NEPTUNE

A little special release from NEPTUNE appeared few moments ago. California Dreamin’ is a Romanian movie based on the same-title sond, also known as Nesfarsit which describes the immense differences in the current world. American Dream on the one side contrasts with life in a poverty in Romania on the second. This title also catches some moments of the war in Kosovo, so it will raise a lot of controversary for sure. The quality is standard on one CD with 2 channel AC3 audio.

Movie plot: US Marine Cpt Jones is assigned to escort a train carrying NATO equipment headed for Yugoslavia during the war in Kosovo. His mission is held back by Doiaru, apparently a very thorough station master in a godforsaken village, who halts the train over a paperwork technicality. The community makes ridiculous efforts to welcome the Americans, intending to profit from their unexpected presence. The troops join the game – and Doiaru’s own daughter has a brief affair with Sgt. McLaren. Tired of waiting to get help from higher up, Cpt Jones decides to take matters into his own hands. As he gets more and more involved with the locals, he stirs old arguments and reveals the actual reason why Doiaru stopped his train to be a very personal one. At the end of five intense days, the train resumes its journey leaving behind broken hearts, broken dreams and a civil war.

“The quality is standard on one CD with 2 channel AC3 audio.” but it says 2 cd below and it is 2 cd..

  3. June 11th, 2007 | 19:33

Nesfarsit means “endless” as in the director died before the movie was finished. that is why it is so long.

“California Dreamin’ is a Romanian movie based on the same-title sond, also known as Nesfarsit”
The title is California Dreamin’ (Nesfarsit) and not aka Nesfarsit. Nesfarsit is attached to the movie cause the director died last year in a car accident and it was never properly finished. Nesfarsit means in Romanian un-ending/un-ended
This movie won “Un certain regard” prize at just finished Cannes Film Festival 2007.

Another sentimental quirky Eastern European movie, ala anything made by Kusturica for example. Not a bad film, but nothing special. Still much better than the last Romanian film I saw ‘Second Hand’, one of the worst pieces of crap ever made.

Romanians are kings of piracy and hacking, they are always on their computers, sniffing out any references to Romania to flaunt their patriotism.

The fact that cheapo B-movie king Armand Assante is the star of this movie should tell you about it’s average quality.

It’s not an Oscar movie, but that’s because it’s not an American production.
Still, it won “Un Certain Regard” at Cannes this year. It could have been a much better movie, had Nemescu had time to round it all off, but he died one year before the movie was finished.
I’ve seen better movies, but hell, I’ve seen a lot more worse movies.
And if you think of the budget this movie had… jos palaria.

“Romanians are kings of piracy and hacking, they are always on their computers” – that is a nice thing to say but is not the truth, yet; we are good with computers but not the kings.
“they are always on their computers, sniffing out any references to Romania to flaunt their patriotism” – this is just bulshit; yes, romanians are very proud people whether they have reasons or not for that (mostly not); in fact they all want to kill all their politicians; eventually are better people than americans who have bombed themself on 911 just to start another war for oil; you know, Hitler did the very same thing with Poland.

I`m Romanian, I`m not a hacker and I`m definitely not proud of this piece of shit country I`m livin in — worst of all it`s not the country that actually sucks, but the people that live here make it like that; and fuck me if I know where all the goddamn patriotism comes from when most people are drowning in poverty compared to other civilized countries.

Funny that I mostly see this online, everyone around me keeps on complaining about how bad it is to live here: the taxes, the government, the salaries, the “Romanian” mentality, everything… but just come online — lo and behold: words of praise lavished upon “the jewel of Eastern Europe” by happy Romanians.

Come on Romanian comrades! I was having a bit of fun. I live in Romania cause I married a Romanian. I’m actually Polish, but a dual citizen with Australia. I think it’s a good country if you have the money like any place. I’m not rich, but we get by here. I’m having trouble with a visa for my wife so I’ve lived here more than a year already and I like it(in Galati).

@ Combichrist I do find, just like in my home nation Poland that there is a lot of exagerrated patriotism by the masses, who get thrown a bone by the thieving populist oligarchs like Basescu (or Walesa) and then roar to all and sundry about what a great place Romania(or Poland) is! The media is to blame, cavorting praise on the country everytime some pathetic award is given to a Romanian production or if some crap actor comes here to promote a movie and says a few nice things, then the Romanian hordes cream their pants! Funny that the same inferiority complex is in Australia too.

People get fed such opiates and then tune in to watch Columbeanu or Prigoana or any other fat rich fuck buy a Rolls Royce and imagine that in the EU after a few years they will all be like that! The naive fools! What did they fight for in 1989? To be even poorer and more downtrodden? Why don’t people riot now when it’s worse than back then?

  29. June 12th, 2007 | 16:01

Nobody has mentioned subtitles. Is this movie in English? All the Romanians writing in makes me wonder!

Combichrist: The type of mentality you’re showing has a HUGE contribution to the situation Romania is in.

Anyway, this is not the place to have this conversation, I’m really curious on what people who actually had seen the movie have to say about it!
