BS Player PRO v2.26.956 Multilingual Incl. Keymaker-CORE

BS Player is well known & popular commercial multimedia player… Emm… Do i really need to write more? Oh yeah… I can see it already: “VLC FTW, MPC FTW…” :D

    har har, the “network buffering” is a joke, it either crashes or does nothing, and seeking in FLVs doesnt work (like in 90% of the players)

    I do get tired of the large amount of bugs in VLC, crashing for no apparent reason. However, I tried BS once and hated it. I couldnt figure it out. Maybe I just have no patience…

  16. FlyingElvi
    January 6th, 2008 | 23:40

    Does it support Vista’s enhanced renderer like KMPlayer does. If not it’s not worth it. even VLC doesn’t support it.

    January 6th, 2008 | 23:50

    Tried it once, and it was better than many others i’ve tried, but would’nt show correct full screen on tv.. tried different settings etc, but could’nt get it to work properly.. Now i’m using mediplayer classic for everything, if for somewhat reason a file can’t play in mediaplayer classic (almost never has happend) i use vlc..

    I use MPC because its not bloated with a lot of extra crap, doesnt take long to load, and has a lot of advanced features (the thumbnail screenshot tool mainly). if you guys still use itunes for get stuff on your ipod i suggest switching to floola (i kno weird name) but it works faster and allows u to transfer files from more than 1 pc without having to wipe out the whole memory :D

    KMPlayer can play rar’ed files directly, without extracting them first. Also, like VLC, it can play everything true internal filters (no codec packs needed).

    I havent found anything better than Zoom player for full screen clean interface for the HTPC. Media Player Classic for anything on the computer and VLC if MPC wont play it.

    #22 look for Quick Time Alternative. MPC w/Quick Time.

    BS Player is a very good player but like MPC it needs external filters from a codec pack or the latest ffdshow:

    yes!! thank you!

    BSplayer FTW!

    i have a laptop with a nice big secondary display. MPC and VLC don’t play nice with your non-primary displays. sucks because who wants to watch video on a tiny little laptop screen when there’s a big honking display right next to it…

    media player classic works out of the box, but it’s MS.

    set BSplayer to vm9 renderless, and viola.

  38. odot
    January 7th, 2008 | 00:32

    BS player is handy cause it can play RARed files without extracting them, and it usually autoloads subtitles that are RARed and in a seperate folder :)

    though this rls isnt working for me :S

    January 7th, 2008 | 00:45

    second shout for GOM player. i used to use BSplayer but it had great difficulty with MPEGS, not that its much of a problem these days though. anyway GOM rocks, has inbuilt codecs and plays everything i throw at it (apart from the vile Quicktime). if not, it goes off and finds the appropriate codecs i use it with a minimalist skins and its quite sweet. BS has had its day

    I’m sooo tired of VLC, sucky Subtitle options (why can’t I choose a font? Why can’t I adjust the delay, easily?! COME ON!)

    Does BSplayer need codecs? (Almost) the only reason why I use VLC…

    MPC + ffdshow (+ corecodec for the high res mkvs).
    VLC has its meaning but hello, no adjustments at all if you take mpc+ffdshow. I would like to set resize method, have it fix some levels, chroma sharpen. resize to fullhdtv. It just works like a charm. MPC for the win

    please don’t ban me. I just want to ask one off topic question because what I’m asking about is from a post several months ago and no one can answer me. Regarding the game Stranglehold, after I mount the first dvd it asks after installing for a while to insert second cd. what is this?

    The very latest version of MPC (January 4, 2008):

    http://rapidshare.com/files/81858432/mplayerc_20080104.zip

    In combination with ffdshow (see comment #38) can play everything with minimum resources.

    BSPlayer is a good video player BUT I love it more as an audio player. The Equalizer is badass, unmatched in my opinion. I have set it up so that it plays HipHop, Rock, and everything else perfectly with all the right Highs lows and mids.

    Its also good for movies with ac3 or low volumes, you can adjust it so that it sounds perfect.

  67. Natrix
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:07

    Do yourself a favor people and start using GOM Player. I was hard core BS Player user but I gave a chance to GOM Player and now I don’t want to hear for anything else then GOM Player. Thank you for your attention. http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html

    No Charge, No Spam, No Spyware!!!! It’s GOM Player.
    Uh, I do sound like I’m working for them but I’m not. I would actualy like to give them some money for their software but it’s FREE!!!! Can you imagine it? It beats all other crap such as BS Player, VLC, Zoom Player, etc. etc.

  68. hobomobo
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:16

    tried GOM Player on everyone’s recommendation

    VLC and MPC don’t support dual head setups… GOM player works great out of the box on my secondary monitor!!

  70. Jr
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:35

    BS player is actually bs the thing is slow for one and vlc player is 10000000000 times better and vlc player is nicer,it converts video if you know how to use it, it uses nice skins, and it has all codecs in there and you wanna know a real commercial media player, itunes, wmp11, media monkey(for music)and even OPENOFFICE.ORG (theres a media player for some reason) IS BETTER THAN THIS
    go get vlc player and enjoy please

    ps: you dont even have to install vlc, just go get the portable version from portableapps.com

  71. Jr
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:37

    ok and i add gome player is also better than this and its similar to how vlc player works

  72. bill
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:39

    I used to use it, but why bother having 85 players for windows. I just use media player and vlc. I wouldn’t download any program off this site anyway. They’re all loaded with viruses.

  73. Pop006
    January 7th, 2008 | 05:43

    what does “DVD support (codecs required)” mean.. for each movie, or just once?

  74. rachet
    January 7th, 2008 | 06:05

    @64 Joe…If memory serves me right then FLT version of stranglehold spanned over 3 different normal dvds(DVD5) because of its 12.5GB size. So when asked for the next disk just insert the second disk U had burnt!

  75. heh
    January 7th, 2008 | 06:29

    ZoomPlayer/KMPLayer/MPC/VLC are all better than this…

  76. x
    January 7th, 2008 | 07:46

    guess what, VLC doesn’t need any additional codecs

  77. Tom

    Thanks for the info. I figured it out already. Appreciate it!

  79. Rekrul
    January 7th, 2008 | 09:07

    @3 KsK,

    Some players CAN make the same source look better by applying post-processing to the output. They can do things like add blurring to get rid of overly jagged edges, de-interlace the picture to get rid of mis-matched video frames, alter the color/contrast, etc. Most all of those are user-settable though, so don’t expect the image to look better without manually tweaking it.

    @6 xrmb,

    My FLV files seek fine in MPC, GOM Player, and even Windows Media Player 6.4. I use ffdshow as the ecoder and a separate FLV splitter.

    @39 hobomobo,

    Media Player classic isn’t made by MS. It’s INSPIRED by the simple, clean interface of WMP 6.4, but it’s been written from scratch. It just looks like the old WMP.

    @77 Pop006,

    It means it can handle DVD menus, etc, but that it doesn’t include the Mpeg2 codec necessary for actually playing the DVD video files.

    About various players;

    Windows Media Player - I’ve never upgrade past 6.4. Newer versions are too bloated. I used WMP 9 or 10 on someone else’s system and it had CD ripping, CD burning, a Media Library that buries the actual files so deep on the HD and you have to do a search to find them, etc. Just making a simple playlist requires about 5 steps.

    VLC - Sure, it has all the codecs built in and will play the latest Quicktime files on systems that Quicktime is no longer supported on, but it has more bugs than a swamp. Play with the wrong options, it crashes. Play with the options too much, it crashes. Change some options while playing a video, it crashes. The full-screen controls are a joke and if you open two instances (either accidentally or on purpose) you’ll end up with two slideshows and audio that sounds like a skipping record.

    GOM Player - Seems to work pretty well, although no faster or more efficient than others. Relies on outside codecs for some formats, but actually seems to be able to fine what ones you need for unplayable files.

    Media Player Classic - Based on WMP 6.4, but with many more features. Older versions were buggy, but the last several versions seem to work well. It has a bug in the subtitle handling though, which prevents it from loading many subtitle files depending on what renderer you’re using. ffdshow has its own subtitle option, so I usually use that instead.

    I use MPC for almost everything except DVD playback, for that I use PowerDVD. For Quicktime files that MPC can’t handle, I use VLC, which is the ONLY reason it’s still on my system.

    ontopic: Everyone knows what BS stands for… And that is exactly what this player’s all about lol. You’re better off with soft that need not to be hacked. I’d say XP Codec Pack (with the lightweight Media Player Classic), (S)MPlayer and VLC are just some of the best out there. ;)

    @ Noel, this might help http://torrentdoctor.xm.com/archives.html Its about how to extract archives which come as parts (.r01, .001). Theres no need to be joining files and extracting them thereafter. ALZip is great for it.

    The KMPlayer >>>> all

    If ur looking for the best player with most options, use KMPlayer.
    If ur looking for a simple player, use MPC.

    Its that simple folks :) Ive tried EVERY player mentioned in these comments (and more..) and nothing beats MPC in its simplicity. However, i was looking for a player with more features, and came to KMPlayer. Its like a Zoom Player, but it doesnt have many bugs, and it has a active development. The only downside is the configuration (if u wanna use ur own decoders): thats pain in the ass. But it also has internal encoders which also do their job.

    Why i cannot save the modified subtitles in the subtitle editor?
    BTW: This movie player is not bloated! Very fast rendering, useful for hi-def movies! KMPlayer is not that fast! I tried to run a 720p movie and it run only at 16fps instead of 25fps so I turn back to BSplayer! And one more thing: The version with adware is only the free one! This is not the case (PRO version)!
