Britney Spears – Blackout (2007)

Martin: This is a post by our new music editor – I am still waiting for his introduction, it will be added here later.

Here is a new release which will inevitably attract many people’s eyeballs: Britney Spears’ brand new studio album since 2003’s “In The Zone”. Worthy to mention, She also works as the album’s executive producer. The producers also feature some big names like the Neptures. Her new music style blends dance-pop, urban, electronica and some reggae I guess. Though I am not quite into her new style, I will still give it a spin.

Blackout is the fifth studio album by American pop singer Britney Spears. Originally slated to be released on November 12, 2007, the release date was moved up to October 30, 2007 due to numerous unauthorized online leaks of the songs in an attempt to combat song piracy, as well as the great success of the lead single.

    whoa nice album cover!!! *sarcasm*\

well all honesty if you like pop music then you might this that this is pretty good

it’s a good comeback for her but she is doing too much in her life that is gonna mess up her sales….

she might wanna get out the studip and start attending to those children of hers

I hope this album fails miserably, really, if it only sells a few hundred thousand copies, maybe she’ll go away? Don’t download it for free, don’t pay for it, and she will go away. Ok everyone? Unless you wanna keep turning on your evening news and seeing her stupid face all coked up instead of war news.

the music might be ok, im not gonna go out of the way of some good music just because of how the singer acts.

Troopers… fellaz! What is going on? What is up with all the negativity around Britney… she is trying so hard and yet the world is making fun of her and treating her like somekind of wild ‘n rare bushmonkey. No wonder she falls back into nasty habits and reacts in a somewhat annoyed way sometimes. She is the best momma those little brats could wish for… Id rather have a mum who looks good with some great hits than a father who relentlessly tries to carry out his talent. She’s facing a diffcult period of time right now and she needs to be left alone by all the media, or atleast make her appear in a better spotlight. You can hear all of her frustrations if you listen carefully to the lyrics on this new album. Sometimes its so beautiful. All I can say is… Thank god! She’s back bitsj! DaMn… what? There are no excuses for being a beaver wohre every single time. When your overdue, take a step… or rather a few back and leave them spirit n chemical goodies alone. Nice example for kids huh. I hope this album sails like the titanic… argh…! :D

Just don’t find her voice interesting. I don’t respect singers who focus so much on sex as she does.
I also don’t see why she wants to jump back into the spotlight when she just might face another “mental breakdown” or whatever it was that happened.
I wish her the best of luck though.

@ wikido; “she is trying so hard”? What are you talking about? She does not now nor has she ever written her own music. She is also a lip syncer (you all know it, she’s been busted numerous times), she’s nothing but a dancer, plain and simple. Her voice on albums is pepped up and fixed so it sounds good. As to her producing this album, who cares? So she sat around a booth snorting coke while some guys who went to tech school and actually WORK master her new ‘album’. Oh wow, must be so hard, ya lets put her face on the evening news EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS AND EVERY COUPLE DAYS DURING THE YEARS BEFORE THAT BECAUSE IT IS SO HARD TO BE A RICH KID WHO GETS ALL THE BREAKS THEN GETS PAID MILLIONS TO LIP SYNC SONGS IN CONCERT. WOW, SHE SURE WORKS HARD!!

woot!1!! you nailed that one like a thru pro. You must be a journalist looking for another rumourous gossip to make fun out of other people. I need to correct you on your comment… actually… she isn’t much of a dancer either. Basicly she is like a disposable mudtard capable of pretty much not so much. I still admire hard workers though. Try to be the topic for every single day for the last two years and before that. May I remind you that her wealth is solely to thank to herself, atleast she is not another spoiled brat like Paris Hilton who nearly starts crying at the late night show interview when questions are kept fired about her time in prison(break).

@27, the video was awsome… lol, I totally agree… look at the footage… her heel (whats the correct english again, heal or heel, oh whaeva) broke off and made her move less fluent. You try to dance with broken shoes! I couldn’t (I couldnt even walk on any womenshoe for that matter). It was so hard to dance that it was almost physically impossible to do so, but she managed! Perhaps it made her forget a few lines of the songtext, but hey if you’re lipsynching anyways, the audience which is 20 ft away won’t probably even notice. Its easy to judge it all at home sitting behind the computer watching the youtube closeup, but for teh real it was good… I mean, go ask P Diddy… nothing but good words over for her. It does her right too!

Read it again. “Though I am not quite into her new style”

This to me implies he was into her old style. perhaps it was just poor choice of words I am just very skeptical of anyone that listens to and enjoys this kind of music…especially males.

I refuse to buy any artist that can barely sing, and lipsynchs to all her “songs”
If you want to be called an artist you must put SOMETHING into the album other than your face on the cover.

Elton john-creates a few tunes of his own but while Berni does half Elton does the other half.

Beatles collaborated on their own songs (some cover but mostly them)

Monkees- started out as a cover band, but also fought for their own songs

OK these are all “old” bands (I’m an 38y old fart) but I don’t know about the bands out there now.

If you all you do is parrot what someone else wrote you are not an artist.

I will say that there ARE times where lipsynching is allowed , but that is only on songs that are literally impossible to sing without destroying it (Queen B.Raphsody etc.) cross fades multiple lyrics from the same artist

@19 Well, I downloaded a Hillary Duff album or something a few months ago. That might have been worse than what Britney produces.
I listen to the radio alot so I’m sure I can’t avoid songs from Britney’s new album, but I sure can try heh..

All you guys know you’d still hit it. I would have no problem banging Mrs. Spears. I’m sure the sex would be “CRAZY” and she would be telling you “Gimmie more, Gimmie…Gimmie more”. ha. Yeah, I know…CHEESY!

    LucidHarmony:
He did do a few songs and was involved in the instrument side of things.(all could sing, and play live)

I did not really say the monkees were a great group, but when you compare them to britney, they tried like hell to break out of the “package” and got some decent songs made by themselves.
They were also live and played their instruments, which palaces them above miss barely talented.

Heard about Radiohead and Coldplay not sure if I have ever heard them though, lost quite a few years of pop culture with other things in my life (Kind of why I seem to “stop” in the late 80’s early 90’s)

Though I WILL take umbrage at them putting the Beatles to shame

From all the comments given only a few were usefull!
Is is so difficult to give info on the album itself!
Either you liked it or not! Why go ranting about a celebrity you don’t know!

I’ve listened to the new songs! And to be honest there were
only a few that I liked!

    - gimme more
    - why should i be sad
    - get naked

“Gimme more” is without the best song on the album! All the other songs seem to have a similar vibe! But never come close to “gimme more”! In most songs the beats are downplayed considerably and there isn’t much of a melody!
So for now I will say that this album is worth listening!

actually i don’t really care abt her private life..i hate her previous pop albums but this album honestly gets into me..i tink as a frequent clubber, i’m kind of liking this genre of music. it’s all about the danceable music..brit can show more talent if she can perform to this songs live with a little more practice (i hope) this time round…lets see whether her album sales will surprise us…i still love this album even if it’s not from britney spears! so sorry guys, i will buy this, even if i’m the only one..kudos to brit and the Neptunes!
