Bob Marley and The Wailers - Roots Rock Remixed (2007)

A real reggae legend Bob Marley still attracts many music producers and his songs are very often subject to various remixes and special sets. Roots Rock Remixed is one of them - enriched by Bombay Dub Orchestra, Fort Knox and other familiar names. This is a really nice music for relaxation and funky mood and you shouldn’t miss it.

The first officially sanctioned Bob Marley & The Wailers remix album ‘Roots, Rock, Remixed’ is out Monday and features some well known tracks from the Lee Perry produced Black Ark days given a respectful reworking by some notable current producers. Out via Quango, the best remixes come from Afrodisiac Sound System, Yes King (Rhys Adams & Mark Rae), Trio Elétrico (Boozoo Bajou), Fort Knox Five, King Kooba, DJ Spooky and a great remix of ‘400 years’ by Jimpster. The Marley family have backed the release, saying ‘Roots, Rock, Remixed retains the songs and the spirit of the original Wailers’ recordings and creates a great dance party record.’

Robert “Bob” Nesta Marley OM (February 6, 1945 – May 11, 1981) was a Jamaican singer, songwriter, guitarist, and activist. He is the most widely known performer of reggae music. A faithful Rastafari, Marley is regarded by many as a prophet of the religion. Marley is best known for his reggae songs, which include the hits “I Shot the Sheriff”, “No Woman, No Cry”, “Three Little Birds”, “Exodus”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Jammin”, “Redemption Song”, and “One Love”. His posthumous compilation album Legend (1984) is the best-selling reggae album ever, with sales of more than 12 million copies.

Anyone who things Bob Marley is over rated must not know too much about the man or his life. Hi’s music at face value is barely half of what he is or he achieved.

Retards that spout opnion as fact are SO fucking annoying.

PRODUCT WTF??? You must be 11 or something?? 90% of the artists these days make poop music without a message, and without any skill at all. Bob Marley is a legend…A LEGEND! No Reggae artist can beat Bob Marley in historical appeal and musical skill. His songs are so well written and have so much cleverness in them, you could only dream to get to the level of that musical intelligence.

IMHO this is the best music release I’ve seen posted here so far. Not for Mr. Marley but I am curious about the remixes by Fort Knox Five, Trio Electrico and Jimpster.

This site deserves to see something else than the R&B, Techno, Now!-537, Ibiza Mix commercial crap that I see so often…

Anyway, great job you guys are doing in what comes to movies and tv series. My fave site, no doubt.

I’m curious to see how drastic these “remixes” are. Doesn’t remix essentially mean change? Why would we want this music changed? I guess I’ll just have to check it out. I have a feeling I’d rather just have cleaned up, remastered stuff. But I guess I’m just an old guy.

well that was quick. Yea, remix apparently means change and make kinda sucky. I’m curious of all the people above who are saying how much of a genious BM was, Do you like this crap? The little bit of the real music that gets through is so watered down… I’m glad that didn’t take long, but I’m off to find some PROPER Bob Marley stuff now…
