The only thing is its hard to do with TV shows, because they are not all released at the same time…
So it would mean that majority of TV shows are posted hours and hours after being released

Nice idea, but it would be cool to note down the resolution (e.g. 1280×544), an indication of whether the audio is AC3 or DTS and the complete file size (4.32GB or whatever). Quite honestly, this is the info that helps me decide if I’m gonne DL or not. Thanks for considering.

I think the layout looks very tidy and alot less cluttered. There isn’t any need for the huge images shown for most movie titles. I think this type of layout should be for the whole website! It looks so much more organised and easy on the eye! Very nice!

it is a good idea, yes.. but honstly.. some of these blueray movies are not worth listing, or even being made. did anyone care enough to keep thier copy of short circut on beta max? do you really want to see geuttenbergs’s or other people 80’s hairstyles in HD? or listen to the silly way people bond in 80’s movies in 7.1 surrond?

watch the movie listed called final count-down.. ask yourself.. what was the over-all point to this movie? what did i learn? and, based on the characters personalities, and the people chosen to play them.. who was the target audience?

just brings more questions.. are the people who cared about this movie still alive?.. could any of them appreciate HD through thier cataraced eyes? or would they want to watch it in monocrome instead like in the good ‘ol days.

why should we pay 35 for a movie on blueray if these companies can waste money producing shat movies on blue ray.. were are they getting the cost recovery from?.. most likley on sales of good blue ray movies for 35 each.

i’m just listing the reasons why i no longer pay for movies, and apprieciate RLSlog and other sites. and maybe re-assure others that there’s nothing wrong with D/L movies.. these companies are ripping you off, so you do the same, and if you want to support the artist, do so.. but

I don’t mind a weekly roundup for old movies released in HD, but I’d like to know ASAP when Blu Ray rip of a new release is out.
As for TV shows, I wouldn’t mind if they were in some kind of daily TV show roundup or something like that so it would make the site listings less cluttered.
And for the person making remarks about Short Circut, I loved that movie as a kid and I’m in my 20s and I wouldn’t mind seeing some 80’s classics in HD (since I have a projector display and low-res XviD releases don’t look so great on it). And my eyes are just fine ;-)

    @43

Yes there are plenty of us still around that want to see our favorite 70s and 80s movies again in HD. Don’t forget that even HD doesn’t come anywhere close to the real definition of 35mm and 70mm film. And not all 70s and 80s movies had bad surround soundtracks. Often the audio sounds better when transferred using modern techniques than previously used for VHS or DVD.

As for The Final Countdown, it’s a popcorntastic :) B movie. Who cares who the target audience is, it’s still entertaining for those of us who like such sci-fi. I think maybe audiences today take worm holes and time travel in movies for granted, but back then it was still a relatively new thing too see in sci-fi movies and more so for such ideas to be used a historical context.

Another “oldie” favorite movie of mine I’d like to see in HD is Time After Time, the Nicholas Meyer sci-fi/thriller twist on H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine.

This cursory listing of re-releases of older titles in HiDef-format is greatly appreciated. Not all the titles appeal to me, but ‘Narc’ (2002), ‘Hannibal’ (2001) and ‘The Man Who Wasn’t There’ (2001) are all top-notch!

Some will consider the Ethan & Joel Cohen film ‘The Man Who Wasn’t There’ (2001) as slow or even boring. But both ‘Narc’ (2002) and ‘Hannibal’ (2001) will certainly be met with enthusiasm by the common rlslog user who hasn’t yet seen one of them.

Looking up ‘Caligula’ (1979) at the IMDb, I just see that ‘Caligula’ might very well be worth watching. An early version of the screenplay was written by Gore Vidal. In a comment it is noted that the film sticks closely to the facts of the life of that psychopathic roman emperor.

Here is what ‘bhat962′ wrote in 2001:
»This is actually a pretty good film. Perhaps the intense nudity and graphic-ness was not likeable but the movie was very closely tied to the facts and history of Caligula himself. You don’t see many movies that actually stick with the facts instead of making it ‘Hollywood.’ I reccommend this to people who “know” about Caligula in advance so that they know what their seeing instead of going into the film not having a clue what its about. I don’t think they could’ve made the movie any better that relates to Caligula- he was a psychopath and it showed in this movie.

Tons of great scenes, and it showed what the “real” Rome was like. Brutal and harsh and misgiving.«
