Blu-Ray cracked by Slysoft, rips pouring from air
The recent massive increase in amount of Blu-Ray rips has an obvious reason: cracked protection BD+. A Caribbean firm called SlySoft claims to have broken the copy protection technology used on some Blu-ray discs designed to prevent video content from being copied and pirated. SlySoft has long sold a product called AnyDVD which is a utility that disables a DVD’s Content Scramble System (CSS) copy protection technology. Once a DVD’s copy protection is disabled, you can copy its content using one of several third-party programs. Now the company SlySoft is upping the DRM-busting ante with a new version of AnyDVD HD 6.4.0.0 ($47) that promises to crack Blu-ray disc copy protection.
The copy protection cracked by SlySoft is called BD+. According Macrovision, the company that owns the rights to the BD+ technology, the copy protection has been adopted by “more than 20 companies including major CE manufactures, motion picture studios, as well as The Blu-ray Disc Association.” It’s likely that Macrovision and the Blu-ray Disc Association will knock heads and thwart SlySoft’s crack of BD+. In fact SlySoft representatives have publicly stated the it’s not only likely but probable that the BD+ copy protection technology could be tweaked to prevent Blu-ray discs from being cracked. DRM-cracking technology has long been a thorn in the side of Hollywood anti-piracy fighters. Despite the Motion Picture Association of America’s efforts to crack down on DVD-ripping and despite U.S. copyright laws that make it illegal, sales of software that bypass DVD copy protection continue online and at retail stores. While this may be a sad day for MPAA, it’s a much welcomed breakthrough for the scene.

does this really work if so what program can i use to copy or burn a blu-ray disc or movie anydvd breaks the code but what do you use 2 copy or burn the movie?
Does this mean a crack for PS3 discs ?
So…they’re promising a product that they then later will “tweak” to prevent the function they are promising?
The only BD that they haven’t done yet is Hitman. Which they supposingly know what the problem is and should have it cracked sometime this coming week.
@6
If you’re waiting on cracked PS3 games then I think you’re in for a long wait. The PS3 has been out around 16 months and it hasn’t been chipped yet. Sony are well up on the encryption used in the PS3 which is many, many, many times more secure than what was used on the PSP.
There is something in place in the PS3 firmware which would prevent playing a game (online) which isn’t genuine.
If it does evetually get chipped, how many people are seriously going to download games which are around 25GB or more?
Good peice of software, simply removes copy protection on the fly. Been using it for for aaaages. Old news btw.
@9
Haha if something was that big, then i wouldn’t download but go out and borrow the games from friends and video store…. and then do it at home….
In your Face MPAA !
@10
I doubt you’ve been using the new version for ages, it was released just a few days ago! Perhaps you should think before you speak..
With the HD discs I would be fine to buy my own if they didn’t insist on region coding as I enjoy building a physical library.
By locking me out of some (not all are region coded) discs, it’s as if they are forcing me to resort to piracy.
@9 : I would definitively download 25+ gig games without even thinking twice. Hell , i would download 50 gigs games (IE : MSG 4) as well. If the game is worth it and you have a nice connection and you’re not capped or throttled then there is no problem downloading files that big. I regularly download 30 + gigs stuff (mostly complete seasons of TV shows , Blu-Ray/720p if possible) so it would be nothing new to me :).
I agree that the “mainstream” may not be attracted by the prospects or downloading 25 gigs + files though but there is still a scene for those who do. The real issue about this is the price of blank BD media but they will most likely go down in due time. Burners aren’t an issue anymore as far as price is concerned since you can get one of 150 - 350$ these days.
@17
He said he’s been using AnyDVD for ages, as have I. That means that those of us who use and are well aware of SlySoft products aren’t surprised as the software is updated constantly for each new protection that comes out. Now STFU noob and think before opening YOUR mouth. Idiot.
@19
AnyDVD removes region coding.
I was wondering why there was 20+ BluRay rips in the last week, it’s starting to get out of hand!
@22 : It’s not getting out of hand. It’s actually getting better.
For those of us with big HDTVs , standard resolution DVD rips just doesn’t cut it anymore when you got a taste of 720p/1080p. Sure i can still watch DVDs and R5 but i’m looking primarily for BR rips. I also don’t buy DVDs anymore , only Blu-Ray.
@7
i think the article is referring to the the companies that code the bluray protection. i believe slysoft sees something, that if it is modified a certain way, may prevent the protection from ever being broken again.
thats what i got out of it anyways.
which is now why im scared. heh.
any comments ?
@22
the line between HTPC users and the good ol’ standard desktop is being blurred more and more each day.
welcome to change.

what about HDCP? I’ve been asking if I’ll be able to play BDrip movies on my (no HDCP) lcd.
So how do u play them on ur lcd? Is ur computer connected to it? or do u back them up to disc? and if so what do u back them up to? because i see BD rips at 4.X gigs does that mean i can back them up to a dvd-5? Sorry if this a lil off topic but I was just a lil curious.
Slysoft has been cracking dvds for years I have been using there software anydvd since like 04 it’s the best.It’s a small driver that sits in the background and cracks anything you put into the cd drive automatically.They also update frequently to overcome any new technology that the security companies come up with.They also have another piece of software called Clone dvd which works great too you dont have to be a tech guy to copy a dvd.Well worth the price.
Grandma’s Boy
keep up the good work slysoft.
These guys are the real “Pirates of the Caribbean”
I’m confused what is so diffrent then the older ANYDVD HD versions? They have had Blu-ray ripping for a while. The article’s about?
I’m confused too. For a BlueRay torrent, will we have to go out and buy a BlueRay burner and blank BlueRay disks? Or can we somehow burn them to DVD5 or DVD9? Better yet, is it possible to just play the file from a laptop patched into a TV like we do with regular avi, xvid, or DVD rips?
Anydvd + CloneDVD = Rip anything you want.
@20 from my pc, HDCP videocard, HDMI to a non HDCP 47″LCD, I read that HDCP security reduces the resolution to 5xxi.
I Haven’t Bought the videocard yet (palit 8800gt sonic) but I’m a little worry if I’ll be hable to play releases of like… 12GB.
The best this can be for is movies and BD players in general. You can’t really expect this to be any good for PS3 games because your PS3 would first need to be modded as well. Not only that though but MANY games advertised as blu-ray are really dvd9, like most multiplatform games.
Slysoft should have a go at the cinea protection that a few groups have been struggling with lol.
Awesome work guys
Finally, at least something positive comes after the HD war is over! Now let’s have the BD v2 standard with DL capabilities.
@ ZHK
AnyDVD HD removes protection on Blu-ray discs (and HD-DVD…), meaning you don’t need a HDCP enabled graphics card or monitor - you just make sure AnyDVD is running before you insert the disc.
@ na na
Previous versions of AnyDVD HD removed protection from all DVD, HD DVD, and Blu-ray discs EXCEPT for the ones with the new (new-ish) BD+ protection (and extra layer of protection on Blu-ray discs). 6.4.0.0 now removes BD+ on most of the currently available Bluray titles with BD+ protection.
AnyDVD will always keep up with new protections. Remember the old saying ‘what man can make, man can break…’
what we also need is something that disables hdcp for ps3 so we can play it on computer monitors without hdcp compatibility , something cheaper then 60 bucks, maybe some cracker could disable it by installing linux and making a program that runs on linux to disable the hdcp on the ps3, then we’re golden
Anydvd is the best out there, fabdvd is really good to with those and a converter program u have most bases covered, its not a suprise that slysoft comes out with this, they been doin it and doin it well for a while now. Im not really concerned with hdcp what i wanna know if i rip or DL a bluray can i back up the movie to a dvd9 or a dvd5 if the file is small enough and does it play on a ps3? my ps3 is connected by hdmi my pc is connected by s-video, i would love to start a collection of bluray movies. My thought was that the bluray disc is just like a dvd but holds more info (simplified I know) so theory would suggest if the movie was ripped it would still be high def. So it wouldnt matter what the high res movie was contained on whether it be dvd5 or dvd9 or external drive connected to a ps3 or off a computer connected with a High def output. is this correct?
yes you correct
yes you are correct

this is old news. Slysoft cracked Bluray like a week after Bluray was released.
they cracked BD+ _not_ Bluray. there haven’t yet been many BD+ releases but still, a few notable including FantasticFour and DieHard releases. cba to get the whole list but you will manage with a search yourself.
can anyone link a good bd to mkv guide?
