Bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity [MCD][2008]
Pure Death Metal! Bloodbath is like heaven (or rather hell?) to my ears. This is an 20 hour (since pre) delayed post and I can’t believe I actually missed this release by a minute since it seems I’ve been waiting forever for it. Mikael Åkerfeldt (most famous for his main project Opeth) is BACK on vocal duties in Bloodbath! This is in my opinion one of the best Death Metal acts ever. Pure old school death metal is played here and they don’t pretend to be anything else. If you haven’t yet heard of this band I STRONGLY recommend you pick up their first EP “Breeding Death” which is a work of Metal genius. A live album of their (first and only) gig at Wacken entitled “The Wacken Carnage” is also due to be released on May 19th through Peaceville.
Critically acclaimed as a “superstar line-up” death metal outfit, the band is the brainchild of Anders Nystrom (Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade), Jonas Renkse (Katatonia, October Tide), Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale etc.), and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). The whole project indeed was the upshot of one rip-roaring night and intended to reinvent old school Death Metal.

Mr X is not only the most useless on this site, but his post are the same every week as though he has a quota to fill. His posts are silly and quite the same as my girlfriends downloads and she just goes to mininova and looks around. She knows nothing about computers.
Me and my friends have a “Mr X worst post of the week” and it makes for a great gag.
And yeah, only 4 songs but just as some horror is better than no horror, some death is better than no death.

Their last record were fantastic, this one i find too monotone. Does anyone know which instrument Swanö plays in this record? His blessed with godlike skills with guitars, bass, drums and vocals…

Bloodbath is neither like Dimmu Borgir (sympho-melo-pseudo black), nor Mayhem (black) alike. Bloodbath is swedish old-school death metal (death metal is known for making fun of blackers, btw), so it is something totaly different.
I love especially their previous album, Nightmares Made Flesh, with Peter Tatrgen (Hypocrisy, Pain) on vocals. But this mini-CD is really great stuff, kinda different, but still very nice. A long awaited CD. Highly reccomended.
If you like this kind of music, you can also try Blood Red Throne (their latest album “Come Death” is sooo amazing) or Vomitory.

Yeah man, there’s a lot of death metal bands up and coming all over NA and Europe… Even one of my pals that I went to broadcasting school with is in a new metal band called Demonthrone… Check ‘em out, they got a lot of potential, pure 80’s death metal sound; and oh yeah, their first album “Angel Slayer” (brand new) is released on old skool cassete tape! (no advertising meant lol)
