Blood Diamond 2006 1080p HDDVD x264-DEFiNiTE

Hey guys, I’m back with another HDRiP, and so is DEFiNiTE. Great movie again: Blood Diamond. I don’t think this movie needs any introduction, so just grab this one guys ;) Sorry for the bad snaps but I didn’t have much time to take them. I can guarantee you that the quality is fine.

In 1999, in Sierra Leone, the fisherman Solomon Vandy dreams on the day that his young son Dia Vandy will become a doctor. His dreams are shattered when the rebels invade his village and kidnap him to work in the diamond mines. Solomon finds a huge pink diamond and while hiding it, the commandant of the rebels sees, but the rebels are attacked and Salomon is arrested by the government army. While in jail, the wounded commandant tell the prisoners that Salomon found the stone, and the mercenary smuggler Danny Archer from Zimbabwe releases Salomon and proposes to exchange the diamond by his missing family. Using the idealistic American journalist Maddy Bowen, Danny locates the wife and daughters of Salomon in a refugee camp, but is informed that his son has been recruited by the rebels. Salomon and Danny consolidate a partnership, with Salomon looking for and finding his son, and Danny looking for the diamond and finding redemption.

    @ Bram

    An error remains: it’s 1080p, not 720p.

    You haven’t fixed that:
    “Video Quality: 720p (1280×528), x264, 7935 kbps”

  4. October 15th, 2007 | 19:05

    @3:

    It’s fixed now :) As said in the post, I didn’t have much time to make it but it is all good now I guess :)

    Just out of curiosity, how do you guys watch these hd movies? 8gb is quite a bit…

    October 15th, 2007 | 19:15

    @ #6 hey

    on my pc lcd monitor, or encode to fit on dvd5 (usally 720’s are just right 1080 imo is overkill. 4gb is my limit for a brilliant film i must burn to dvd at highest qualilty without having HD player i.e. evil dead 2 :D )

  8. Why
    October 15th, 2007 | 19:22

    Why download an 8gb rip to watch on a computer monitor, what a waste. Look out of the window, its a much better resolution…
    It looks almost lifelike..

    Is there a 720p version of this movie available? My PC can’t play these 1080p’s :(

    These samples look way too blurry. I reckon for an 8Gb release you’re better off with a 720p encode. At 1080p / 8Gb the bitrate is too low and the quality suffers big time. And yes Florist, there is a 720p version, Blood.Diamond.2006.DVD9.720p.BluRay.x264-REVEiLLE, search for it!

    an amazing movie that makes you rethink your life. definitely a good watch

  14. October 15th, 2007 | 19:49

    @12:
    That was because the screen was moving and I didn’t have enough time to make good samples. You should read my post: “Sorry for the bad snaps but I didn’t have much time to take them. I can guarantee you that the quality is fine.”

    Thanks.

    I have to say, this was actually quite a good movie.

    I didn’t like Leo after Titanic (how many guys did?) but this movie proved he wasn’t just a teenage girl’s wet dream, but a competent and intelligent actor.

    9/10 for social commentary, acting, and not having a terrible plot.

    One of the better movies of the year and kinda stuck with you afterwards. Not a depressing as i thought it would be as these movies with a message usually are.

    At that length and resolution, to achieve excellent pixel quality, the file should probably be up around 12GB.

    Yikes..

    I’d just like to point out that Leo was also some teenage boy’s wet dream as well.

    October 15th, 2007 | 22:05

    Well, u can also build yourself a HTPC and watch it using that.
    And no need to watch its infront of your 19″ screen. =P
    But 8000kbit seems alittle bad.. Allmost dvd ffs. ;-)
    On a dvd u can with around 9800kbit on a dvd, while on blu-ray & HD-DVD can do about 30000-40000kbit.
    But would probably suck pretty much to have 30gb movies on your hdds.

    October 16th, 2007 | 02:03

    Does anyone know if there’s a significant difference in quality and/or viewing experience between watching the 720p mkv’s on a PC via TV Out VS a retail DVD via a 720p upscaling DVD player (provided an HDMI cable connection is used on a 42″ LCD/Plasma HDTV)?

    October 16th, 2007 | 04:17

    @Peter

    Which one have you noticed is better?

    @John Smith

    Yes, as long as you convert it first, unless you have an HD-DVD player that can play the .mkv file straight.

  37. Peter
    October 16th, 2007 | 05:56

    @John Smith

    Which model of HD-DVD player are you going to play it on?

    October 16th, 2007 | 08:20

    @John Smith

    At the moment standalone hardware support for matroska is slim to none, hopefully this will pick up soon.

  39. Wah
    October 16th, 2007 | 08:46

    @John Smith, ryley

    As is standalone hardware support for H.264/MPEG-4 AVC/VC-1. When that time comes, the scene needs to find a way to make each movie fit on a DVD5/9.

    Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this..

    Every few minutes the video freezes up but the audio will keep playing. I can continue watching (again, only for a few minutes) by pausing it and starting it again. I’m using VLC and have no clue how to fix this. Any ideas?

    I’ve been having similar problems with this movie. I have an htpc and play from my pc to my hdtv…but this movie seems to be the only movie my computer can’t play smoothly. I have Condemned and spider man 3 playing perfectly by the way. I am using zoom player, my comp has a amd athlon 64 3600+ brisbane, w/ 2 gigs of ram hooked up to a 690G based mobo with integrated graphics via ati’s x1250 or something like that. Any ideas…should I overclock up to 2.7 GHz, cuz the cpu runs at 1.9 right now.
