Blackout 2007 DVDRip XviD-FRAGMENT

A rather cheap movie Blackout appeared few hours ago in a new dvdrip. Released by group FRAGMENT, this story is inspired by 2003 blackout in Brooklyn and it describes events which took place at that time. No superb acting and slightly inaccurate rating at IMDB (only 26 votes), but the release quality is fine and English subs are also included.

“Blackout” is an ensemble piece and it’s about the chain of events that unfolds in a Brooklyn neighborhood, a forgotten Brooklyn neighborhood, during the blackout of 2003 and how it affects people differently. It deals with people and characters that step in and out of each other’s lives and see each other on a day to day basis on that block, but basically this film displays how everyone is affected differently by it and what chain of events can happen in a limited period of time.

Excellent point, based on the current mark-up of RLSLog reviewers Asian and English movies get the thumbs up. Eventhough I have tried acquiring the taste for Asian (Korean, Chinese, etc) I am still not taken by an all favourite movie.

Hopefully your point will be taken.

Damn Hydr0, I have to agree. But, that being said, this has to be an awful movie because of the sub par storyline alone. I thoroughly enjoyed Jeff Wright in Broken Flowers, and he was phenomenal in “Angels in America” as an AIDS stricken homosexual and in Casino Royale. But, no matter how great and acclaimed an actor/actress is, they cannot singlehandedly save a piece of sh!t film. But I would love to see a black staff member on RLSLOG, though I despise Rap, and feel the majority of their posts would be of the said variety.

On a side note, I think it’s human nature to be racist to some degree. And through my experiences, Black people are just as, if not more so, racist than Whites and Hispanics. But thankfully, in 50 years or so, the gene pool with be so deluded, race might not be such a polarizing factor.

P.s. Please disregard my previous comment, it was an immature attempt at humor, (yet I still found it humorous) and apologize to anyone offended.

    @ Hydr0

You are a moron. Just because he called it a cheap movie and they’re happens to be black people in it he’s a racist? It’s not like this is the first time they called a movie crappy before. Plus an imdb rating is usually a good start to look. A 7.6 with 26 votes usually means the movie crew voted it up. Yet you tell others to be open-minded when you basically call all whites racist? Then you are mad just becaase he gave a good review to a white populated movie even though it had already recieved many awards and nominations? You are the racist here. Chances are though your just a scrawny white kid in his room trying to just piss people off.

Hydr0 are you high?? (BTW i’m not trying to imply that all black people take drugs as i’m sure you will claim)
The claim that Martin’s comments are ‘openly racist’ because he described the film as ‘rather cheap’ is absurd especially since he does not even mention the fact that the cast has any african-americans in.
Also, have you seen a Wesley Snipes movie?? I don’t think its racist to say that they all lack ’superb acting’. The fact that the man is black and also cant act is purely coincidental. For example, if an african american called Ben Affleck a sh1t actor how many white people do you think would be offended? (none).
Just another immatur child crying ‘racism’ at every oppurtunity.

  35. slamothecow
    February 6th, 2008 | 19:21

so you mean to tell me that an American who’s descendants voluntarily came from South Africa, would not be considered an African American. I think that you need to broaden your view on people and their opinions before you contribute your comments. This is coming from an American. Stop segregating yourself. My Descendants were slaves, not me.

Not only do I agree with Hydro I read his entire post..Its amazing to me that just because someone can hide behind a computer screen can spew negativity and hate. The surprising thing here is that those of us of color are expected to take it without censor. Martin’s comments are rooted in good old fashion racism. It never fails that whenever a film featuring an all black cast comes along this type of discussion ensues. i said to myself just click on the comments and read the commentary which (surprise) is all about race.I think those of us offended should contact an outside source about this place I dont care what group it is but im spreading the word myself that RLSlog.net is home to some of the most racists folks on the net.

    February 6th, 2008 | 20:37

    hydr0,

Are all the editors of this website supposed to watch the full movie before posting about it here? One of the reasons I read rlslog is because it’s usually pretty quick (not as fast a pre-bot of course) with getting information about releases out there. Postings would be delayed for at least 2 hours if every editor had to watch the release before they wrote about it.

Your points of contention are also easily disproved:

You say that calling this movie “cheap” as opposed to “low budget” is racist…all it took was a little search for “STV” to see that Martin does in fact call other movies “cheap”, even when they only have white cast members! Crazy!

Your point about IMDB is also amusing, considering Martin was only saying that the IMDB rating could be misleading because 26 people had voted on it. Actually by saying “BLACK PEOPLE DONT USE IMDB THEREFORE IT’S NOT VALID” seems a bit racist to me…what, non-blacks can’t grasp whether a movie is good or not?

So let’s recap what you took offense to:

“cheap” – He uses this term quite a few times: The Unknown Trilogy DVDRip XViD-HooKah, Teenape Goes To Camp 2008 STV DVDRip XviD-DOMiNO just to name a couple

“no superb acting” – Well since I assume he didn’t watch it, this is a guess on his part but considering how horribly this movie did at the box office it’s probably a safe bet.

“slightly inaccurate rating at IMDB” – Yeah well I wouldn’t trust an IMDB rating with only 26 votes either.

Stop trying to play “the victim” on behalf of a movie that happens to have black people in it.

BET is racist in itself. If they had the WET (White Entertainment Television) it would be highly unappropriate. The day you stomp out racism is the day idiots stop using a color or race to separate people.

  42. Hydr0
    February 6th, 2008 | 21:57

“Are all the editors of this website supposed to watch the full movie before posting about it here?”

No, that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is how can you can give an opinion on whether a film is good or not, if you have not watched the film? When posting about a film, all that should be discussed is:

    1) When the film became available.
    2) 1CD or 2CD + filesize.
    3) Quality of the file.

If Martin or anyone else wants to discuss the quality of the acting or the plot, then they should write a proper REVIEW AFTER HAVING WATCHED THE FILM. This goes for whether the film contains an all-white, all-black or all-Martian cast. The reason that I said that IMDB ratings should not be included with film posts is because:

    A) When Martin gives his opinion on black films, it is based off of IMDB ratings and not his actual viewing of the film.
    B) Because the IMDB ratings database is heavily biased in favor of white films, no accurate view of popularity can be determined.

No one is trying to play victim here. And for the record, just because a film doesn’t make a lot of money doesn’t determine whether it’s good or not. I’m sure that you have a quite a few titles in your library that didn’t make a dime that you would consider good cinema…..

  45. Br0zack
    February 6th, 2008 | 23:03

Ahhh, the sound of Hydr0 backpedaling.

So now that we’ve reduced your racist rant down to your only valid point, the real discussion can begin. You have a problem with Martin “pre-judging” a release before he watches it. Honestly I see no problem with it just because anybody who has an ounce of common sense would realize that its just a prejudice, not an actual review. I agree with your point about box office success not necessarily being indicative of quality, so that might be the wrong criteria to base your prejudice on. Either way, I don’t see how racism equates into any of this…the worst thing Martin is guilty of is judging a movie before he watched it.

Also, saying IMDB has a heavy white bias is pretty humorous. Maybe you could send me the link that contains the racial makeup of the IMDB userbase and I’ll concede the point. Let’s take “The Wire” for instance. Sure it’s not a movie, but the majority of main characters are black. User Rating: 9.7/10 (7,236 votes). I guess whitey really likes this show! Ok let’s take “The Great Debaters”, also a majority of black actors: User Rating: 7.8/10 (3,649 votes). Oh wait…it has Denzel (the Uncle Tom) so I guess that doesn’t count as an undervalued “black” film. Maybe you should provide some examples of films you feel have been unduly influenced by IMDB’s White Supremacy’s squad and we’ll debate that.

And BTW, it’s BLACK not African American, which is a stupid PC term that’s racist in itself. Why should skin color matter to anyone for rlslog editor ? Deliberately requesting a black editor will just split everything into a white/black debate. It’s best that our editors are anonymous as possible, without any details about skin color made available. We have editors around the world, so who knows we may have one already.

i’m not gonna lie, when i read martin’s review, and before reading any comments, i felt the same way as hydro.. im not black though. i read through most of thee comments and still supported hydro’s point of view.. thats changed when i looked at the recent reviews martin wrote, and it seems like hes not biased/racist. just a good reviewer, and next time, i wont be too quick too judge. “welcome stranger” is a good example of a white film martin flamed on. although he did use ‘low budget’ rather than ‘cheap’ in the welcome stranger, i dont thinnk he did it purposefully.

    @ hydro,
i see ur point, but this is a situation where you need to re-think ur ideas..
